In my experience, the lower the level of the zone, the higher the magnitude of retarded players. Now, that's not to say that RV does not have its fair share of downies, but I've seen some folks in BB, and to a lesser extent SC, that most definitely take the cake.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seems kind of common sense though doesn't it? For the most part, beginners are going to start off learning what they can in the low end zones and you would think gradually move up. I do love all the IOd out, lv50s that hang out in BB waiting to kill "n00bs" though lol.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
you take a group of people that pvp in RV and put them in Sirens Call i bet they do well. You take a group of SC people and put them in RV...and well...it's not pretty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I honestly wasn't playing the "different zoves VS skills" game. I was just agreeing with Super...I'm not a fan of 75% of the people in zone perma Hibernoobing and fighting with heavies is all.

Some guy thought it was broadcast worthy to "LOL!" all day when he killed me recently, but I had to say that I wasn't impressed considering I was held by a robot for 6hrs.

a shuriken and caltrops are WAY lower tech than something that explodes and is designed to lock someone in place...
If it was a smoke bomb, I'd agree, but the concept of web grenade really isn't ninja esq.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Depends on what you think Ninjas are. Ninjas employ tricks, weapons, stealth. Web Grenade could be devised and used by a martial artist as could Caltrops and Shurikens. Targeting Drone doesn't fit the roleplay theme of the other powers in Weapon Mastery, it was just available to be plugged in. One day it should be addressed in some fashion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You do realize that Weapons Mastery wasn't designed for those that wanted to make a Ninja, right? It was designed as a thematic ancillary pool for the blade using power sets. It has nothing to do with ninjas or any specific character concept (which you seem to be operating under the incorrect assumption of). All of the ancillaries were designed to be vague thematic counterpoints to the existing sets. Scrappers had DM, the blades, and MA when the APPs were added. Dark for dark, Weapon for the blade sets, and Body for MA. Complaining about the Targeting Drone because you don't think it works for ninjas is like complaining about the Laser Beam Eyes and Energy Torrent in Body Mastery. None of them fit specifically with their root power set, but that doesn't mean you have to take it or that the animation/effect is bad.

If anything, a modern ninja would leap at the chance to use higher level technology than what they had available in the medieval era simply because they used whatever tools they had available. They would never handicap themselves by only using tools from a specific era.

I really think that you need to remove your head from your rectum and figure out that the APPs don't exist to make your concept complete. If you don't like how it looks, you don't have to take it.

(Also, they're not going to take up one of the 8 remaining costume option slots for a single power effect that you don't like. They've got better things to use them for. If you don't know what this means, you need to learn more about the problems with power customization before you start trying to make a fuss about it.)

I wonder if the first ninja using caltrops got razzed for it....his buddies told him REAL ninja still use polished rocks and sturdy sticks.

Tell Mat link to join the big boys and come to some kick ball and arena

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty sure he doesn't care about showing his skills to anybody. I'm sure he's not as good as a test arena stalker ([censored], he only has SS and combat jumping....no SJ and no phase either), but he's definitely a lot better than average. Only reason I brought him up was to say that he does twice as much damage as my stalker with the same build, simply because it's a purpled build vs SO's.

As far as sirens being boring, meh. To me, RV is the essence of boring. No good player ever dies unless it's like 5v1, due to every single person having insane resists and phase+hibernoob. Also, 90% of the time, there's 20 vils camping 2 heroes in the hero base. Sorry, but that's not fun PvP.

Last night in sirens, there was like a 15v15 (at least) going on for like 4 hours straight. I got probably like 100 kills (no, seriously...I was getting ALL the ks's for some reason lol), with 0 deaths of course. Now that was fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also, as far as RV goes Super...don't forget "ATTACK OF THE KILLER ROBOTS!!!" ftw. If I want to see people fighting with robots, I'd watch Voltron/The Gobots instead of PvPing.

I heard heavies are getting their holds nerfed, so thats a + for heading to RV.
  5. Geejay and glad u guys had a blast. I will try to be more punctual next run
  6. Also, hit up the TF Channel if you haven't already.

I really dont understand how you could have an SoA or Widow switch sides. SoA's are supplied by arachnos, (Omega Maneuver, archnobots etc) So I would imagine switching would cut you off.

Besides, then you wouldnt be a Soldier of Arachnos, you'd be a Soldier Formerly Known as of Arachnos, and that just doesnt have the same ring to it.

So honestly, I dont really wanna see the possibility to switch sides with the SoA/widows... but on the other hand, I REALLY want an evil warshade. All Lovecraftian and such. And while I dont think it would make much sense story-wise, it is probably a neccesity to have both able to switch sides.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since this thread is full of RP...a SoA could be undercover collecting info, a double agent or could be either getting supplied through the "Black" Market or have carried all the equipment designs his/her crabpack would fit, over for Longbow reverse engineering (sounds plausible).

As far as the mentality of it...a lot of people get out of the military, but sometimes still consider themselves military enough to set themselves apart from civilians that never served. Seems like the same concept could work for a SoA.

Im looking forward to taking my PB to redside.

Sonic hits like a truck, lowers resistance to allow for more damage when stacking and takes procs, but compared to Radiation...it roots some. Radiation is extremely fast, can be loaded with procs, but is not as heavy of a hitter as Sonic overall.

    [/ QUOTE ]

eh, actually against a high defense opponent, even one simply running rock armor from the troller patron or scorpion shield, you're gonna get enough dodges on a sonic (lolsmashing damage) to make it so that rad does more damage, as it will consistently hit through high defense. this remains constant unless you have a sick defense debuff like infridg+sleet. and even on a rad/rad i don't think RI will cut it by itself.

and then go ahead and factor in melees... rad rips through melee like nothing else, play no dr and it's just not fair. it will rip through good tanks EASILY.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree; if you're doing arena/duels...this can be the case. Not everyone you fight though is going to have that high defense factor.

Thx guys, I've spent more time PvPing then in PvE lately and used to the bonus not counting more then +/- 3 your toon's current level.
    And yes...MIDS is great

[/ QUOTE ]Even in PvP, sets work if they're below your level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought it was +/- 3 levels in order to receive the set bonus.

Example...in SC, sets have to be between lv27 - lv33 since ur toon is capped at lv30, no?

  13. Quick question for the gurus. I just started playing my lv50 Kinetic Corruptor after letting it collect dust for awhile. I'm IOing him up and working on squeezing the last bit of 3.75% defense (Melee) from the 6th set of Touch of Death. Will the lv40 set bonus work for me if I'm playing at lv50? Thanks in advance.

I took it as meaning he doesn't PvP much...but thats kinda obvious since in the original post, he said he just came back to the game. Sounds like the guy is honestly looking for advice on /rad vs /therm and sonic/ vs radiation/ and the PvP mechanics behind them. Not sure how that could be considered trolling.
  16. Welcome back.

You usually have more success making the build you like and then posting for people to tear apart. Also, may have more luck in the PvP sections of the forum.

  20. Thanks Nih, that's what I wanted to make sure. I know the Achilles Heel is good for like 10secs, so didn't know if the Fury proc just refreshed the time as opposed to making them both kick in -40% resistance.
  21. So is that -40% resistance for x amount of seconds or a constant renewing of -20%?

    +Regeneration

Thats def worth it; guess I need to read up more on defense to better understand how it works.

    Thx Cat.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah I just use that winters gift IO in superspeed for my slow resists. I wish they would add a little S/L resist to temp protection to make it actually worth taking. Even at 20% slow resist its still a pretty weak pick IMO.

Heh looking at all these SS/Fires makes me think of ice cream. Lots of different flavors, but all are delicious. Now if we could only keep the ice cream from melting... tough to do in a burn patch.

Back on target, Slow resists are actually pretty useful for a heavy recharge SS/Fire build, because -rech really messes up all the hard work you did to get the build to high rech in the first place. I might jump on test and respec into temp protection and see how it works in conjunction with the winters gift for a full 40% resist to slow.

Then time to pick on a herd of fortunatas/tarantulas to see how well the resists hold up.

Not something I deem needed, but might be interesting to see if it makes a noticable difference.

Good info that Im keeping in mind. Let me know how that 40% to res works out on ur toon.

Thanks man. I worked in as much recharge as possible without spending too much money. +HP & +end came along easy enough and I do have Tough/Weave putting in some work on the build also.

I did not focus on exotic res/def...does 17% Psi defense help or is it better to throw those slots into something else?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It seemed to me that I ended up with a TON of resistance to everything except Psi. I ended up with 12% resistance and 17% defense to it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I guess my question is...for Psi attks (or any damage type), does 17% def/12% res help out or is that such a small amount that it doesn't do much for mitigation?
  25. Double stacking -res would be so hawt
