Quote:Same advice I give when people ask about building a PB for PvP...pick the role/function that u enjoy and specialize. Just because you have 3 transformation options doesn't mean you have the slots to support all of them with the ability to be "real" effective. If you want to be more of a Blapper/melee toon, then split ur slots between Human and Dwarf...dont waste running up Nova. If you want be a super Blaster and pew-pew from 150ft away, then build on Nova's superior range and damage, add procs and there u go. Follow that and all Khelds can "perform their function" well and even over-perform.Hello all, please forgive me for the broadness of this topic. I am new here, and am *still in the process of reading guides/stickies* and etc. (120 pages of Philosophy homework, or CoX? Easy choice.
I'll get right to the point. I've had kheldians unlocked since whatever issue they came out in, but never payed them any attention due to all the negative reviews I heard. Their powers cost too much endurance, did too little damage, and slotting was very restrictive, often forcing a "2-form" build. There is also a long list of "bad things" stickied up there...
I'm really interested in trying something unique and challenging. (I have a 50 ice/ice blaster and a 50 claws/ninjitsu stalker. While I like 1-shotting minions, I think it's time I branched out.) I'm especially enamored with the Warshade. My questions are simple:
1. Do kheldians perform their function(s)?
2. Are kheldians unique and interesting in their role, or are they simply a scrapper and a blaster smushed together?
3. What's the playstyle like? (Are you sitting in squid form on teams facerolling 4 buttons, or are you changing forms and using all your abilities?)
Thanks very much in advance for your support. *Back to reading* -

I second this and want to say don't let all the "jerks abound" talk keep you from playing a high pop server. Its like someone telling you to not move to NYC b/c there are more idiots there VS Dental Floss, Kentucky. Of course this is obvious...but the same can be said that there are more "nice" people as well. Unlike real life, you can always press the ignore button on in-game dummies you don't care for.

I gotta say though that a cpl of Forts perma MLing each other + triple Venging and killing 20 heroes over and over by camping the hero base was good times.

Uh oh. Like we havent had a million of these already, but I forsee another 1 of those "RV pplz iz betar warrirs thAn SC pplz" battles coming on. Please dont do it.

Whats the best DP name you've seen so far? For me it would be . . .
'Getting DPd Hurts' -
/Traps Corr that spams Webnade for disruption. Always lulz to see ppl with high defense toons and one travel power running around in circles getting gangbanged by 10 and then raging.
-
A lot of choices depending on what you want to do and what type of PvP ur looking for. The PvP section always has ppl running the pros & cons of Corr sets Vs where u would use em...arena, zone etc.

Quote:The mutha fn king! I like some of your zone toons, but dont u have some toons built just to drone ppl?Let me cover this for everyone. The only real viable traps toon is a mm. You can make other ones work in zones. But you can make anything work in zones. Arena a traps fender or corr would be a farm target, pure and simple.
And just so we are clear rahji, I do think outside the box. I do try suboptomal builds and set ups to see what works. I am not stuck on 8v8 jump teams. I am the mutha fn king of zone pvp in this game. I don't have the time the effort or energy into arena. Plus I am antisocial as hell and refuse to use vent. What I lack in skill I compensate for with knowledge. I am also smart enough to know you really can not reinvent the wheel, but you can definitely change the tread. -

Quote:Word.Well I watched Vennetrix quite a bit of the time last night and his claims are not so far fetched. He was a great add to the team he was running and I watched him near solo a tank and scrapper using a pool and web nades trap setup. It was pretty sweet. He got other kills of note but these two I watched near the hero base were impressive. The tank is one of the more well built ones we see in the zone and he was defeated in less than 10 seconds with very little outside help. GG
I got sent to the hospital once on my main Corrupter over the nearly two hours I observed and played near him while he made, lets say a few more trips than I. From my vantage point I would have to say the SS / SJ combo was the superior escape travel setup in most of the situations I witnessed. He was suppressed a bit and spiked is what it looked like to me. As to be expected. But I am playing a Pain secondary and am a little more resilient to be fair.
However he did have some situations where he was able to hover out of range for many of the SS only users and got some lols out of me for his taunts and such. He did make good use of his Hover / TP setup quite a few times. He was able to make quite a few good escapes using invisibility or phase as he noted in his posts. I was able to make more escapes is all. Although they may have been gunning for him after some of his comments on here. Just to try and prove him wrong. I dont think they did.
I also observed how he attempted to pursue a few runners who either resisted the TP or he got a bad roll on it. I was not impressed much by the results of his pursuits. He did get ahead of the runner a few times but most escaped over the sustained pursuit. Pursuit with TP is a mixed bag. I will stick with my SS / SJ setup I think.
All in all, a very viable build but I still stand behind my earlier comments. I would not suggest this to a starting PVP player. I would suggest learning the ropes on a ranged toon but probably not that secondary to start with. That is not to say that I would never play a traps for PVP. I would think it will take much more practice, trial and error to refine the skill. A new player should start with something easier is my opinion.
Good work Vennetrix. Some of the later ire you are getting is because you really did well on that build last night. -

Quote:Classic line for me that never gets old:Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the henchie exploit didn't need to be fixed. It did.
I'm just mildly annoyed with NCsoft on the whole right now. They keep painting a shiny new coating over old content and expecting us to be distracted by the glisten.
For me at least, Issue 17 and Going Rogue will be the breaking point. If I don't feel a freshness in the game with them, I think I'm done. With CoH and possibly with NCsoft. They haven't been impressing me of late and I'm finding it harder to justify handing them money every month.
When you go play Champions Online, can I have your stuff? -
Quote:I don't say it's a non-issue but I don't think it's the main problem, in fact I think it helped the supply of most items. Tickets can be used for any items that can be gotten through normal drops except for purples. The difference is that the player gets to focus the supply on what they actually want rather than taking a bit of everything. Based ont he supply I would say that most people are either spending their tickets on rare salvage or making random recipe rolls (probably mostly bronze but maybe some silver and gold). The net result is that we do get a decrease in the supply of common and uncommon salvage but rare salvage and non-purple recipes are actually supplied in larger quantities but AE play than non-AE play.
This is really noticeable in the tier 3 salvage market. Prior to the AE most common and uncommon salvage here was very cheap while rare salvage was all over the map from very low (such diamonds and rikti alloy) to very high (hamidon goo was very expensive IIRC). During the boss farm AE craze the price of common and uncommon salvage skyrocketed but the price of rare salvage stabilized at about 1 million each regardless of type. With I16 the changes meant that fewer people are playing AE stuff but it's still pretty popular. The price of common and uncommon salvage has dropped but not quite to it's pre-AE levels (especially for some of the magical uncommons). Rare salvage has risen in price but the stock levels and the difference in price is much less extreme. Previously it varied between something like 100K and 10million depending on the item but now it pretty much all goes for between 1million and 2.5million as a buy it now price.
So yes AE has caused some inflation, particularly in Purples, but it has also caused a decrease in the prices of other items and so overall I don't think it's the primary cause of the current state of the economy.
I was just going off of one of your original statements, which I disargreed with, "...In any case AE isn't the problem..." Ive always felt that AE was the main reason the market prices, specifically purples, went apesh!t.
Good points, but I'm mainly talking about IOs that either you cant find on the market or rares running 600mill for 1 as opposed to 600mill+ for a set as it was b4 AE. Buying salvage for 4mill a pop b4 never bothered me as much as trying to afford purple sets now. -
...or people could just read the GR site, forum posts and all the other chatter about Dual Pistols. Just saying.

Probably more the "I don't have anything to prove VS being scared" mentality and lol@being scared in a video game. Been reading the thread on and off and cyber bullying ftw for the most part; with all the ppl on here putting him down, I gotta say I like Dah's style b/c he isn't taking it personal even with all the opposing baddo talk.
I remember seeing him in Freedom RV a long time ago and the guy has a decent enuff toon considering its /Traps of all secondaries and the role it plays. To join the others though, most could probably do decent on that build if theyre fighting with all traps set up & bunkered down in the train station ambushing players 1v1. I had a PB at the time and would Dwarf into the traps to set em off, heal and then Nova from 170ft away. He lasted awhile though... -
Quote:Its usually easier to get some guidance if you play with Mids urself and then post a build for ppl to look at/critique. Just my experience...So what's the deal? no one knows what they're doin with MM's here? I am an experienced PvPer, just never used MM's before.
Guess I have a few questions.
Am I ok with just ninja run and no travel?
Is kb really an issue with MM's?
which is beter to have, TP Foe or Challenge/Provoke and maybe the fear? -
Quote:Got it and understand all of that. Just seems that cause and effect points more towards the equation of "most ppl running AE and having more toons to outfit + less drops/salvage from mishs overall b/c of #s running AE =s super inflation of redside market" combined with the items that you pointed out as contributing factors as well. Seems to me that AE is the real problem as opposed to a non issue. The thing is that Villain side stuff has always been more expensive. There have been four major changes to rewards in the last year all of which have caused major changes in the market. Those changes apply to both sides but are more noticeable on the villain side than hero side due to lower population (I suspect villain side also has a higher percentage of powergamers and farmers which would further shift supply and demand but I can't prove that).
1. Merits killed the supply of mid level pool C and D recipes. It also caused a slight decrease in most high level ones but a more stable supply of the popular globals and proc120s
2. AE caused a drop in the supply of Purples and common/uncommon salvage. But it stabalized the costs of rare salvage and increased the supply of non-purple recipes (probably for Pool As more than the others though).
3. Double Inf for level 50s caused a lot of inflation overall for the market
4. Allowing players to play at higher difficulty also caused inflation since higher con enemies reward more inf but have the same recipe drop chance (not sure about tickets). -
Quote:If you say, but the vill side pop has always been lower and I don't remember the market being this crazy b4 ppl stayed in AE all day. Everyone running up 20x lv50s...20x lv50s that need salvage/IOs/purps combined with most of the population hanging out in AE and not getting drops from running mishs. Seems to me like thats the real issue.Actually I17 is undoing some of the previous nerfs to AE. In any case AE isn't the problem. The problem is that the redside population is to small (additionally there may be differences in the population composition which enhance the problem). The simplest way to fix it is to merge the markets.
