Quote:I hope so as well and expect it to...was just sayin.I still haven't seen the Cap movie, except for a few scenes, but it looks like in the first pic he's about to jump into action and is in a manly "ready for action" pose. In the second, he's just standing there, so I'm taking that into account and hope that it does translate better on film, post-production.

Quote:Whoa whoa whoa...was just my minds eye impressionMaybe we grew up with a different Hawkeye, but I think Jeremy Renner fits perfectly. Heck even the Ultimates version has a bit of a gritty past.
"I reject your reality and replace it with my own..."
Gritty wasnt really the concept I was getting at...for me, Renner simply looks more like the average guy Id bump into at the local pub. Again for me (thats the qualifier lol), he doesn't fit how I would imagine a world class athlete to look. I mean I don't work out much and am built like Renner, but I know Im also in nowhere near peak physical conditioning by any stretch.
Not everyone can look like the guy playing Cap America/Johnny Storm, but we do need variety I suppose and if he can act the part, Im sold. -
Quote:Thanks a lot Wyatt for the response and glad for the insight. It's pretty hard to guess what incarnate powers would work best because it really depends on the build. However, I'll give it a shot...
For Judgement, I really see three choices for a Dark/Rad in melee, Pyronic, Ion, or Void. Personally, I like Void for the 50% -Damage, but any of them will work just fine.
For Interface, I would suggest either Reactive for the extra damage or Gravitic for the 10% -Special debuff. I would think the extra 5% -ToHit from Diamagnetic would be superfluous, and the 15% -Regen isn't anything to write home about. (and you have a couple sources of -Regen already.
As for Destiny, do you really need more defense? Do you find yourself being hit often? I would think with 25-30% defense and all the -ToHit, extra defense/resistance may not help all that much. (Probably only for iTrials) If it were me, I'd probably go for Clarion because Mez protection on a squishy is just nice... Also, Ageless would be a good choice if you find yourself with endurance problems.
- Good idea with the Void option.
- What is the special debuff? I read that but wasn't sure exactly what it was. True about the -regen, dark/ has a cpl of sources...more damage never hurts.
- I dont get hit a lot on this toon, but hits do get through regardless since Im not softcapped. I dont get mezzed very often either and have BFs on hold for those moments and endurance is under control with the Alpha Slot, I had to go that route running 7 toggles.
Again, I appreciate the input. -
Thanks for replying guys, I started thinking every VG on Virtue was of a roleplaying nature and not interested in coalitioning with a non RP VG.
Boomie - You are always welcome to holla at us if you are interested in doing something redside. We ran about 4x LRSFs yesterday on different toons and a cpl of other SFs as well. Id like to send you a message this weekend when Im not working (probably free Sunday).
DK - If you have room to add us, we'd be glad to have you on our list, 1 man VG or not
Davpa - I understand your VG RPs mostly, but it sounds like you also run the Weeklys which works. We really just want to expand by meeting some cool people and not have to spam the Channels for 15 minutes looking for those interested in various SFs or other activities like accolading etc. Id like to drop you a line in game as well to talk more. Also, killer promo...I got a kick out of it lol.
Any other active VG out there, PLEASE drop me a line. -
I CANNOT believe my testicle themed toon got the generics recently!
Mutated Testicles is now no more...wth? lol
And I agree with Forbin; I still hear idiots using that 'queer' deal in a bad way. Im sure you can get creative and come up with an alternate. -
So in lieu of no responses, I hope to get some feedback on the following:
Judgement - Pyronic/Total Core Judgement
Interface - Diamagnetic/Partial Radial Conversion
Destiny - Barrier/Partial Core Invocation
Can anyone tell me if there is a better fit/level of Incarnates to use for this toon? -
No active VGs on Virtue interested in coalitioning with another for SFs, farming etc?

Quote:Yeah, seems I remember him using a superdope/hi-tech bow sometimes in the comics...what can ya do? And for some reason, this is not the dude Id imagine playing Hawk since he doesn't have superhuman powers other than:One thing that kinda caught me (and not really in a bad way) was that Hawkeye is using just a regular recurve bow. Granted, it IS a sort of "tech-y" looking bow, but I'd have pictured him using some super tricked-out compound bow. It does look pretty cool to me & I'm not about to lose sleep or start throwing furniture over it. It just wasn't what I expected. Didn't he use a compound bow in his bit in "Thor", or am I mis-remembering stuff?
1) peak physical conditioning
2) being an exceptional fencer, acrobat and a grandmaster marksman, having been trained from childhood
3) been thoroughly trained in tactics, martial arts, and hand-to-hand combat
Im not hating, but the actor playing him doesn't fit that look in my minds eye. I like his acting in other pictures, but he has that very salt of the earth look about him...kind of like the guy that picks up my garbage twice a week. -
-
So I'm one of those people that has done some trials here and there, but hasn't really delved too deep into the Incarnate content (too many toons etc blah blah etc). I am enjoying my Dark/Rad Defender more lately and I wanted to ask the pros what types of Incarnates I should pick for Destiny/Interface/Judgement.
The toon has approximately 25-30% defense to all and with Darkest Night's -tohit, I tend to stay in melee with the team Tank/Brute. I use the ST rad blasts along with Cosmic Burst, but spam Irradiate mostly which is up every 6 secs.
Thanks in advance. -
I recently relocated from Freedom to Virtue and within the the 1st week was lucky enough to bump into a great (however small) group of players that welcomed me with open arms into their VG. While I came over from Freedom because my toon slots were full, they moved from Champion for the larger poulation/activity. The VG consist of a handful of people that ran together on Champion and they have added a few more new members from Virtue, like myself. We tend to run multiple SFs in the evening and do some accolading/farming since some of these guy tend to enjoy SG oriented arena PvP as well.
The VG leaders have only found one or two other VGs that seem active enough to coal with, but since we do quite a bit together I thought it would be a good idea to look for more like minded people.
If there are any active VGs that enjoy running LRSFs daily as well as other SFs with a group of laid back and seasoned players...please let me know.
Thanks and look forward to seeing you Virtuites in game -
Quote:If the scenario isnt strictly group A fights group B, then yeah...Im a fan of this concept.Again, I'm not convinced the Marines would even bother attacking the Romans in force. It's not like Marines don't have their own compliment of nerds and geeks throughout the command structure. The second they figure out time travel has occured, I think they're more likely to pull back for a 'command-level' rethink and evaluation
Afterall, these are not stupid people. Stupid people don't get promoted in the Marines. Stupid people get their people killed without benefit, which kinda halts promoton prospects in the modern military. Smart Marines will want to know *exactly* what's going on, and what effect they are having. They are going to recon, and attempt to question natives.
In a unit that size, it is entirely possible there will be a couple of Marines who can speak and/or read Latin. Which means that with a lot of effort on both sides, communication is possible. (Living Latin as actually used by the common man being sufficiently different from Classical Latin as taught in schools that the communication will not be easy.)
This is not to say that they won't end up fighting Romans. Just that there is a lot more going on than 'Marines automatically shoot anything that moves.'
Also, the Romans legions have a good compliment of smart people in them as well. Unlike what movies and what-not teach, just because they existed two thousand years ago does not make them naturally stupid. We are not naturally any smarter on average than they were. When Roman legions ran into people who had better tech/tactics than they did, they didn't try to steamroll them, they tried a variety of non-military tactics to co-opt them. Celtic cavalry and ironsmiths, goth mercenaries, eastern bowmen, all got hired on/incorporated into the Roman empire. Because the Romans were experts with a skill that isn't based on tech/tactics. Making good-sounding deals. Given half a chance, I think the Romans would rather make a deal with the Marines than try to fight them. -
Quote:I dont know man...have you ever seen what a 155millimeter artillery round does to a crowd of people or vehicles? These are the rounds commonly used in Iraq, daisychained together for roadside bombs. Check out youtube and search for "Iraq VBIEDs".Modern people have a different understanding of what gods are. A religion might spring up, but more than likely the romans would view the Marines as humans endowed the an evil god's power, or evil gods that they need to kill.
In which case it turns the Roman defense into a holy war
Holy war or not, I think once a barrage of these land on the Romans and takes out a few thousand soldiers in the course of 30mins, its a wash. Evil gods, nice gods, gods playing Benny Hill music etc. I dont think the Romans would live long enough to do much except say some prayers before pounding sand. I'm not even going to consider rotary wing aircraft, tanks, APCs and other vehicle platforms with heavy guns putting holes/shrapnel into mass formations of Romans in the matter of a few minutes.
You need people to wage a holy war...a few highly motivated soldiers with ineffective weapons/armor/shields isn't going to play out very well. -

Having worked with all of our military branches as prior Army and a civilian, Id venture to say that Marines are some of our more disciplined men/women, both on and off of the battlefield. (I say this not wanting to get into a discussion of which service is sturdier, more motivated, better trained etc because they all shine and play thier role in the concept of operations). I could be underestimating the #s some are looking at as far as projected suicides, defections/breaking of the ranks and overall sedition focused at the command...but I don't see it being as high as some in the thread may think. Sure, some of that is to be expected, especially considering this whole time travel scenario.
I think you have to either be in the armed forces or a prior service member/family member to understand that there really is a fundamental difference between the way the minds of most military personnel work compared to their civilian counterparts (generally speaking). As far as Marines leaving en masse to search for a religious personality, real or not, I don't see that happening either as the command is going to be focused on setting up current and future operations in a foreign/hostile environment and even the basics of that type of work is extremely taxing, time consuming and very difficult overall. I doubt Marines will have the time or much of the inclination to figure out where to go, how to get there and what they will do once they did or didnt find Jesus or the "Jesus-like figure".
As far as Marines vs Romans...even if the Marines have a reduced slice of combat power reference artillery, mortars and the like on top of everything else a combat element is supposed to have attached to it, itll be a solid victory for the Marines.
**EDIT**
Had to go to the store and during my mindless/droning walk up and down the isles...this scenario popped back into my head. Talking about Marines "going crazy", running off, conducting suicide pacts etc...what about the Romans? How many of these soldiers would lay down their weapons, commit suicide or flee at the sight of this technology that resembles the gods coming to their doorstep with flying steel dragons and men in armored beasts? Seems like the Romans would break from morale failure way sooner than our Marines. -
Quote:Sorry if I misused the word, Im not a psychiatrist or anything closely related, but Ive always gone with this as the meaning:Why do people keep misusing this word? "Anti-social" does not mean you don't like to socialize. it means something else entirely and it's not at all a positive thing.
an·ti·so·cial
[an-tee-soh-shuhl, an-tahy-]
adjective
1.
unwilling or unable to associate in a normal or friendly way with other people: He's not antisocial, just shy.
And this...
1) "This. If you just team with random Broadcast folks then you're gonna run into a fair amount of jerks, global channels is where it's at."
2) "Join a server with a GOOD community that actively use a Global Channel... only team with folks in there that you think will be more of your style. Or, better yet, start a Casual global channel yourself and specify that its for folks who wanna have fun, blast **** and not get told how to play." -
I hope so Foam, I don't get crazy about this kind of stuff like I see others doing on the forums...but I really do dislike that outfit. It looks like it came from some of the cheesy superhero movies of the 80s/90s.
-
Agreed. I know hes an old school hero, but I don't think he would be too intimidating to modern villains while running around in what looks like a blue sweatsuit and wings colored onto his helmet. SHIELD couldnt have someone design him something more current but not over the top?
-
The hide function that people have mentioned above works like a charm. If you are one of those that are completely anti-social...then I say go for it. If you are social but have had some bad experiences with people, then you could always just get into a friendly SG of very cool people to play with no pressure.
I have relocated to different servers a couple of times and have always found good groups of people to run with. -

Quote:1) Every hero needs a nemesis; I wonder how long before a second suit ends in the hands of someone with less scruples and the drug lords, terrorists, child pornagraphers, slavers, pirates etc hire that person to kill you and your support system.I would hunt down and kill Drug Lords, Terrorists, Child Pornographers, Slavers, and Pirates.
I would take all the money they had then give half to the government in taxes to keep them off my back.
2) Even though I'm a fan of your course of action, I think killing all the bad guys would label you as a bad guy/terrorist/madman with our government out to get you. -
Have an SG mate that makes his own farms and would use his ?/Kin corr to run members through his own S/L defense farm. The team would help but it was pretty amazing to see how fast he bounced from one farm to the next, maybe a little slower than my SS/Fire brute.

While I agree with morale being a very real combat modifier, I dont think its based much on religion. Morale issues stem more from being deployed away from family/loved ones, combat and the possibility of a violent death. Sitting at traffic control points for days at a time with a squad, going out for hours on foot patrols with a platoon or even being in firefights, I never witnessed anyone speak about religion or politics or a lot of the other things people think military personnel focus on. Not to say that the base chapel didnt have plenty of people in it during services, but I never had a soldier stress much about any form of religion versus sitting in my hut and crying about missing their kids, wife or parents.
Even then, morale affects every individual differently, not as a mass negative combat multiplier. Some show signs of distress within ten minutes of the plane going wheels up while it may take months for bad morale to affect others. With most, you can trust that their training will take over and keep them driving on. -
Nerd rage is as nerd rage does but I don't know if anyone else really reaches Cover Girl status PvP. Dude would actually send me hate tells when I stopped responding to his "you suck, baddo" or "ur fat and live in ur mother's basement" broadcasts. The guy was really dedicated...
