Oh, yeah... ATOs that go into an AT's secondary. Or primary if they're a Tank or Defender.

Maybe after that they can make some attuned enhancements that go into the pool powers. Then the epics and patron pool powers will get some.

Seriously, what kind of attuned set could you imagine for... I don't know, Presence or Leadership?
  3. Don't let the OCD nitpicking min-maxers get you down. It's impossible to please them anyway!

As long as you and your team mates all had fun, that's all that matters. And it looks like you all did. Gratz!
  4. Hey wait...

If these NPCs are doing the info-dump thing anyway, then this game being in the super hero genre and all... how about after the second page of text or so, we get an option to have an attack of opportunity? You know, because they're monologing?

We'd still have to roll vs. their whatever. But the odds should still be in our favor, at least against the more egocentric maniacs we go up against in this game.

That would be pretty awesome, to see that option there after the second page of text. "(Take advantage of the situation and attack this guy who just won't shut up.)" I say it should totally be in the form of an assassin's strike, regardless of your character's AT or build.

Me and some friends went to the new Star Tours ride in Disneyland when it opened up. That's the revamped ride that premiered last year, I mean. It's not only just a motion simulator now, but the screen is in 3D and you have to wear special glasses to properly view it. Well, this combination of technologies actually caused some severe motion sickness for one of my friends. He's cool with 3D and he's cool with motion simulators; but for some reason, combining the two together not only gave him a headache, but also made him very dizzy for a while.

I'd just like the point out that there was a peripheral that operated almost like this for the Amiga computer about 20 years ago. That is, it used LCD shutters, but I don't think it operated at 120 times a second. With it, you could use most of the ray tracing programs available to create a static 3D image, and view it.

    Just sayin'!
  7. It's probably some of the citizens throwing their rocks at the servers. Those rocks can destroy the universe!
  8. You know, sometimes it just feels better to get a mob's attention by blasting them all with a photon grenade than merely shouting at them.

That's why I got both the pulse rifle attacks and provoke. I'll admit that in the middle of a fight, I'm too busy laying down caltrops and poison gas traps and whatever while also provoking the enemies to keep the aggro on me, but the allure of "pew pew lazers!" was just too seductive to not get those powers as well, lol.

Also, I outfitted Pulse Rifle Blast, Pulse Rifle Burst, and Photon Grenade with the Gladiator's Javelin, Apocalypse, and Ragnarok sets respectively. All at +5. And for no reason other than I wanted to. So there.

EDIT: On the other hand, my new robots/force field MM is not taking the pulse rifle attacks. This is purely for thematic reasons, just as it was for my robots/traps MM.

  10. Maybe there could also be a new contact by one of the bus terminals. He'd be a PTA bus driver in uniform and he gives out a story arc that's related to keeping the bus service from falling into the hands of... oh, I don't know, some kind of Nemesis plot.
  11. I'm not sure if anyone noticed this before when I shared it last time, but I think it's relevant here!

He's level 23 now. I'd gotten the Halloween monster set thingie back when it first came out, specifically because I really wanted that brain-in-a-jar type head. But for the longest time I could not think of what kind of costume to make around it, or what kind of character it ought to be.

Then about two weeks ago now, while I was playing with some other character, I ran into someone else who made use of that head on a mostly robot body. I actually thought it looked pretty dumb, but I could see where a lot of improvement could be made with it. The entire concept suddenly came to me right then, and so I logged out immediately so I could get into the character creator, and thus was born Dr. Madrivet!

Force Fields only has three powers that are really good. The rest range from situational to incredibly terrible.

Note that this advice comes from someone who started CoV with a Bot/Force mastermind and still plays him occasionally... it's just a very underwhelming secondary.
My very first villain, made in 2005 with the launch of CoV, is a bots/traps mastermind.

    And yes, she is awesome!

EDIT: Well actually, she's a rogue now. lol

EDIT: These people. Gah, it would prolly have to be a lot of money!

    It should stay exclusive.
    Just... really, no.

I got this Collector's Edition back when it came out and so I've had access to Prestige Power Slide, cape of the four winds and the VIP/Destined One badge for all this time. I think that's long enough for them to be so exclusive. At least the power and the cape should be purchasable on the Paragon market already. I think those should have been made available in some other way at least four years ago.

Trust me, I wouldn't feel "ripped off" or whatever. I can't even understand why anyone would even come on here and say such a thing. It makes no sense to me at all.

Words to live by. I usually end up forgetting with whom I've been arguing not long after those arguments end, for whatever reason. I can't be bothered to remember who's annoyed me or who I am laughing at after it's all over. I'm sure it's already happened here where I've sided with someone's point of view in one thread, only to argue vehemently against them months later in another thread and calling them out on their shenanigans.

I mean, unless they are doing things to annoy me consistently, and for a very long time. That hasn't happened on this forum in particular for me, though.

There are countless examples of ferries running between islands and mainlands like this today. For the canon of the game there's clearly no obvious justification for having a tram in this situation.
I would say that building a tram monorail from the mainland to PI is closer in terms of technology and engineering to the Seven Mile Bridge, really. I'd also argue that this sort of thing might be a lot easier to do in the game's world, which has a huge labyrinth of underground sewers large enough for several groups of adventurers to romp around, has built gateways to other dimensions, and almost built launch pads to the moon. Oh and let's not forget, they were able to erect enormous walls around the city that have energy barriers on top of them. How much power do all those walls even require to remain operational 24/7?

Aren't there power lines going from PI to the mainland? You can also see a skyline off in the distance in the direction they go.

I think you've made your own opinion so abundantly clear that even the forums for other MMOs that no one here even posts on know what it is by now.

BTW, I notice how quick you are to engage in hyperbole the moment you think to perceive it in others. Nice going!

    LOL what?

I think you need to take that chip off your shoulder or something. If you don't like other peoples' opinions on your opinion, then maybe it's best that you don't share yours.

In my seven years of playing this game, I've learned that it'd be a lot easier to herd cats than it is to get any two or more players in a PUG to listen to your directions. And like I mentioned before, we've had a lot worse happen in this game, with respect to bad players contributing to bad experiences. So just because we have these new team inspirations that could save a doomed taskforce from failure does not mean the sky is falling.

I'm pretty sure the happiest outcome for TonyV's story was the way TonyV already stated it was. Perhaps you meant to say "the happiest outcome for TrueGentleman's story would be if...".
  23. If there was a way to take this level 1 HO out of your enhancement tray and put it in a special case where it could be displayed in your base so anyone else could see it, maybe then I would consider spending that much.

Almost begs the question as to what an HO would look like in the game, unslotted and out of your enhancement tray?

We got over the hoards of Winterlord babies. We got over the hoards of AE babies. I think we can handle a bunch of newbies not knowing their way around a single Task Force.
  25. Forgive me if this has ever been hashed out before...

On a whim I created a new robots/force field mastermind. I've played the robots set before, but never force field. After reaching level 20, I started wondering how possible it would be to reach the defense softcap for both my minions and myself.

To that end, I started looking at IO sets that have the most defense bonuses; good for myself but not really for my robots most of the time. I was kind of hoping some more knowledgeable players here might have some advice?
