Did you forget about the halos? They just float above the wearer's head and don't connect to anything either.

It makes you wonder how far that will go. Where once every channel had its niche, they slowly become so watered down that they all become indistinguishable from one another. There'll come a point where the only thing different between all those cable channels will be their names.

Maybe then there will be a shakeup. Because if you have a hundred stations that are all alike, they can't all survive. After that happens, someone will get the brilliantly "novel" idea of starting a network that's devoted entirely to a single subject.

All this has happened before...

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a cable channel devoted to playing Science Fiction and Fantasy 24/7? I'm sure such a mythical network would never so blatantly kill such worthy franchises.

I guess while I'm dreaming, I'll also imagine a cable network that shows nothing but cartoons all day. Or, do I dare mention it, plays music videos 24/7? Oh, to dream the impossible dream.

This, entirely. I tried to give SGU a chance, but it just totally grated on me. That was a show that was trying too hard to be like LOST or BSG, when the Stargate franchise already had its own MO pretty well set and, to my knowledge, no one was complaining about. They tried to be the "Un-Stargate" and it just fell flat. When I learned that it was being cancelled after only two seasons I was like, "finally!"

The answer is obvious then.

I would suggest that perhaps it would be wise to not seek employment as a copywriter.

Imagine the meetings with clients at the ad agency...

This is pretty dumb. If lore content is irrelevant, then why does any game designer bother to include it? Even simple games from 30+ years ago had rudimentary themes. You're saying that Pac-Man would have been as much of a success if it just had a plain white cabinet with no markings other than the title "Dot Eater"? No music? No sound effects? Just a maze and some blocks. That's starting to sound like the Atari 2600 version of the game, and we all know what a blockbuster success that was, ahem.

I'm pretty sure that the way a product is presented has a lot to do with its success or failure, especially given functionally equivalent game mechanics (as in that other super hero MMO). A game's lore and ambiance can go a long way in making something that otherwise be tedious and boring into something worth playing.

Afterall, you didn't have to resubscribe to CoH. You could have just closed your eyes and imagined what it was like while pressing the WASD keys, moving and clicking the mouse, and making sound effects with your mouth. 'Cause really, all you're doing is pressing keys and moving the mouse around. Why pay someone so you can do even more of that?

The thread is 30 pages in. I'm not at all surprised that it's degenerated. It is a very rare thing for a thread to remain focused, on topic and without snark more than a few dozen posts into it.

I kind of think that's sort of a test to see just how civilized humans have become. In any casual public discourse, how long can any group go on until things get all stupid?

Why are you so afraid of the c-word? You're critical of other people's choices. Even if you decide not to communicate your dissatisfaction with others' builds, it's obvious that you have them. Just own up to it already.

A proc isn't a set bonus. I do believe you're right in that the set bonuses from a purple or pvp set will still function regardless of whether the power they're slotted in is operating or not. A set IO with a proc won't work unless the power it's slotted in is functioning.
