Quote:Yeah, that's what I meant. I haven't read anything about it, so I don't know any details. Maybe they're going with a younger Wonder Woman; maybe even one that didn't grow up on Themyscira. As I mentioned eariler in this thread there's already a rumored connection between this new Wonder Woman and Katy Perry in the show's storyline.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not ragging on the girl about her looks. She looks fine. DEFINITELY not "fugly". She's not what I'D picture as Wonder Woman, but then I've never thought Christian Bale looked like Batman.
I doubt I'll be too into this series given the tone they seem to be leaning toward, but I'm all for them giving it a try. If nothing else it'll at least get the Wonder Woman name back in the public eye, and if the more faithful comic book movies stay popular, we might get a good WW movie outta it. -
She looks too much like someone you'd see singing trendy pop songs on the Disney Channel with choreographed dance moves.
But that kinda sounds like that might be what they're shooting for, so maybe I'm just too far from the target audience. -

Quote:To me he'll always be Bertie Wooster.Have you seen any of the ads for a series called House? Laurie's in it as the title character. He's pretty grizzled looking in it. He's no longer the foppish Prince George (though he'll always be that character to me
And if he DID play Vimes, he could probably even keep his English accent. -

Awesome!
I thought the "Hogfather" movie turned out well. As long as they can get that Pratchett humor down, I'm totally onboard for this. -

Quote:Just for discussion:If the best that todays screen writers have to offer is something that has already been done then I'll be saving my money.
In terms of the Tomb Raider movie, is there really a story for them to rehash?
I mean, I doubt they're going to use the storyline from the first movie, and the game's story wasn't really strong enough for a movie. Is the fact that the character has the same name and (maybe) history enough to decry is as 'unoriginal'?
Is an original story concept with an established character not good enough?
I'm actually asking, cause I too automatically sorta viewed it as a rehash; but then it occured to me to ask 'why'. If the only connection is that the main character is a millionaire adventurer named Lara Croft who hunts for historical treasures; can it really be labled as an unoriginal rehash of the previous movies? -
Quote:I'm actually REALLY interested in the new game. It's also a bit of a reboot, following a younger Lara who's been stranded on a strange island. It sounds like the focus will be more on survival than straight up battles, with a less experienced character who's a little more "realistic".So putting Lara through hell and looking as tho she took the Kratos school of trials is what fans want?
More John McClane, less Arnold.
The movie reboot; eh, I'll have to see a trailer. I hated the first movie and never saw the second, so I'd actually be more receptive of a new Tomb Raider. I like the idea of a more actiony National Treasure angle to it. -

Power Pack - I'd get Pixar on this to give it the "family-friendly yet fun for all ages" treatment.
The Craptacular B-Sides - I think I may be the only one who's ever read this mini. The ultimate loser superhero team, I'd kinda like to follow the comic pretty closely, but it might be better to do an original adventure taking place afterward. Maybe something to do with the absent Feeva.
Not a comic but....
Freakazoid - Because..... well..... FREAKAZOID!!! -
Quote:Jubilee's been potential cannon fodder for years now. She's one of those characters who've been in limbo long enough to be dispensable, but is still popular enough to garner some cheap shock value.I'd worry about them saying she's going to get more focus, though. They're still slated to kill a "main" character every 3 months, right? Suddenly promoting a minor character to main character status might be just a setup for a death.
And if she's alreay on the short list for the chop; why not at least get some stories with her before hand? -
Quote:She only had some cameos here and there for quite awhile. How much is Jubilee in the comics now? And if often, which titles?
I'd get back into X-Men if Jubilee is a regular again.
At the moment she's mainly only in the 'Wolverine/Jubilee' mini-series. I've seen her in the background of one of the other X-Men books, but only as an extra. Someone at Marvel hinted that she'll be coming back into the spotlight soon, but you always have to take that kinda stuff with a grain of salt.
The mini-series is only two issues in so far, but I'm really digging it. The writer's really nailing the Logan/Jubilee dynamic which not many people seem to be able to do nowadays. -
Quote:Initially, yes.Actually, Scott directed the formation of this group (X-Force), and kept it secret from the rest of the X-Men. Wolverine is the field leader, and Archangel is one of the operatives.
However, after 'Second Coming' Cyclops disbanded the group, feeling he'd gone too far and looking to get back to Xavier's dream.
Wolverine and Angel disagreed and formed their own team on the sly. So now only they know about their little murder club.
Quote:Question: Does being a de-powered mutant turned blood-sucking undead make her more or less awesome than usual?
And the answer, of course, is "she can't be any more awesome". -
Quote:So far it doesn't look like Hope is Jean. Though there are many hints at a connection to the Phoenix. There was also speculation that the Scarlet Witch might have something to do with her as well. Nothing definite.Haven't followed the X-Mem lately. Would love help on some updates
Is Hope = Jean? Or still secret? So much symbolism. Many fans miss Jean.
Pdylocke and Angel are together again?
Psylocke and Angel DO seem to be back together, though Warren's angsting a bit over his newly returned Archangel persona.
Other important things to note:
Magneto has joined the X-Men.
The X-Men now live on their own island by San Francisco called Utopia.
Wolverine and Angel formed a "lethal force" group and kept it secret from everyone else.
Jubilee is a vampire.
P.S.
There's also rumors that the X-Men are going to split into two different camps, with Cyclops heading the group upholding Xavier's ideals and Wolverine leading the other group who will lean more towards Magneto's way of thinking.
Still just rumor, but something to think about. -

Quote:Except that now Hal Jordan and Barry Allan ARE back as Green Lantern and Flash. It's because just about every character in DCU you have something of a connection to and even if the name is going to be back probably, it doesn't necessarily mean that character is... and it almost always means something to someone.
Also, Hal Jordan's death may have been MEANT to signal the end of an era, but ended up being more of a signal to the beginning of nerd rage.
There are a VERY small number of comic book deaths to which I'll say, "yeah, that works and had a reason to it". And only about 1% of THAT number I would say, "that character should never come back".
I know everyone says that if I know the characters can't die, then there's no emotional investment in the story. I have NEVER agreed with that. There are plenty of ways to have drama and character development in a story without resorting to something as easy as killing someone.
I'm in the minority in that I WANT to know that my favorite characters will have won by the end of the story. It's the journey to get to that ending that I'm interested in. HOW they win and WHAT they have to do to win.
I know that those stories are harder to write and it's easier to kill or mutilate somebody so that everyone can be all angsty about it, but that just doesn't interest me.
Y'know who I liked. Red Arrow and his kid. I liked that there was a hero who was actually raising a child while being a hero instead of having some plot conveinence to get rid of the kid. Plus, they were cute together.
But nope. We can't have that, so let's get to the death and dismemberment! DRAMA!!
Same deal with Ralph and Sue Dibney. I fell in love with those two in 'Formerly Known as the Justice League' series. I was like, "these guys are awesome". A couple in comics with a stable relationship filled with plenty of love and snark.
Oops, sorry. Looks like they're dead too. Now go watch us completely destroy Mary Marvel!! DRAMA-GASM!!!!
Guh. Makes me wanna chug some drain cleaner.
