Hey everyone,
It has been awhile since I have run a 'new' controller.
It is my understanding that you can hold the majority of Lt and Minion class with only one application of *hold*.
Same of course goes for *sleep*.
It was my understanding that if you place two applications on a Boss class, with the second being a *hold*, then that hold will take effect due to the stacking of magnitudes.
I have noticed lately that something 'odd' is happening and am seeking clarification.
I have been running low level mind controller and I have even noticed this on my lvl 30 Dom.
I can *sleep* a boss with one application. While I think that just might be the 'extra' mag luck shot.
Kicker seems to be...
I place a sleep on a boss then immediately slap a true *hold* on him and he starts moving and attacking as if I woke him up from the sleep.
Shouldn't the boss be then placed into the secondary true *hold* because of the stacked magnitude effect?
Also.. if I *sleep*, *hold* *sleep* he will go back to the sleep animation but if I attack with a regular attack, the boss wakes up.
I have noticed that it seems I have to have him under half health approx to place the standard *sleep*,*hold* effect on him to have it stay.
So.. am I missing something?
Did something change and I missed that note (entirely possible).
Any good explanation would be greatly appreciated as I want to learn the mystery to this.
Thanks -
I have a friend whom upon using his No-Die character ....
(a character who if defeated must restart and add the next highest roman numeral to his character to indicate how many previous attempts)
anyway....
One of his attempts resulted in him blowing himself up while standing at the steps to Ms Liberty as he moved his self destruct button to another tray.
That one had Soooo much potential too
My 'best' defeat came from using a No-Die during the Winter event and trying to pick those damn roses for Maruaders chick.
I Swear... the winterlord had his back to me AND I was out of range but... alas... two giant snowballs back to back and I was buried under the snow.
DAMN flowers! -

Just came on this news.
I'm glad you're brother is doing as well as he can right now.
Here's to a full and speedy recovery!
To him.. for his health!
To you and the rest of the family and friends.. for your sanity!
Tell him "hi" from everyone here and get well soon!

Quote:Welcome to the forums.I Thought it would be worth throwing out the idea of allowing bases to earn teleportation beacons to both sides, well, Preatoria too. It would make it much easier for rouges and vigilanties to travel around and bring SG/VG's up to date with Going Rouge's content.
P.S. I'm new to CoH Forums so if this is an old idea sorry.
TP beacons to both sides 'could' be done and it would sort of make sense. They 'might' do that someday because they have been making the game rediculously easier to get around in. We would lose some of the 'grinding time' effects if they did that.
Adding beacons to Praetoria?
That would be more difficult to 'explain in game' per say. Having your teleporter now be able to transport you to another dimension is a bit of a stretch.
It takes a raid teleporter of old to do it for the trial so it 'could' be done, but I don't think the standard TP unit should do it.
Who knows though, the game today is far different than the game of yesteryear. I suppose anything is possible if they come up for a reason for it, and it is deemed worth their time to do. -
This being my first MMO (sound familiar?)
I had joined up and was doing table top playing as well.
Our Gm was known for making sure you hid your identities and such.
SO.. in the costume creator (wayy back then)...
I chose a full mask cause... you know.. I didn't want the villains in the game to know who the secret ID for the character would be.
Little did I know hahaha.
TO this day.. I still have that costume slot saved to remind me.
And to this day.. I rarely ever place a full mask on my characters.
Never did the train exit thing, I always got lucky but did hear about it in broadcast a few times.
First time ever with Hover, I remember heading straight up and totally geeking out... then.. trying to catch and land on the blimp. Strategically heading it off by coming at it from different angles and never being able to land on it. Getting frustrated that I couldn't (Not knowing that you can not ever land on it).
Choosing SCIENCE as my origin on my 1st and main character. And feeling like I was some kind of idiot as others told me how they were able to go through missions without dying so much.
That is.. till they teamed with me and saw my missions haha.
BTW... never chose Science again after that.
Running around helping NPC's cause.. Well I thought that is what you had to do or.. you would get hammered by something in the game.
Stuff like that. -
I went over to Virtue last night to test 'the event'.
Justice is my home server and we receive our event tonight... so I wanted a preview of sorts.
Turned graphics to bare minimum - check!
I could freely move about but saw other 'skipping' as would indicate Lag.
My computer is:
i7 920
12 Gig Ram
Cable download speeds
Waited for event messages - check!
Went to the areas I chose and found the 50 or so heroes there.
Mobs started to drop from sky - check!
Que up power and SMACK them - check!
WAIT for next power to want to fire off - check!
Yep.. seems typical 'event' involving a lot of people in one area.
Things working as normal with no hint of improvements over last 'event' - check!
Can't wait till the 27th!
Going to make a costume for my guy consisting of a pair of shorts. Bald, nothing else, no aura's .... nothing ...
Then will put brawl on autofire and wait for it to go off. Maybe make a sandwich, clean out the garage, cut the lawn, pressure wash the house while waiting for brawl to autofire again
Serioulsy hope the improvements on Freedom will be up to the task. But ... I think Virtue told the story already. -
Hi Cende,
Well you already know that I think the story is good.
I'm glad that you are starting to post it up now too!
Looking forward to seeing it all.

This new zone will be small similiar to Cimerora.
Most likely two story arcs for each side.
Probably based in Praetoria. Somewhere outside the sonic barrier in a
"We have found an old village, town, city, base" that we have managed to gain a foothold in. Cole won't suspect we have been able to occupy this...
type scenario.
If there is a TF associated with it, it will contain approx 3 missions.
"Small"
"Light on content"
There will be no 'new' or even revamped Costume releases in it.
Seems to be the way this new larger improved Dev team has been going.
Just my opinion though.... based on the recent releases being put out. -
I seem to have problems loading in at night from my home.
This would be from 5 CST time on.
During the day from work I can check all day long if I wish and zero problems.
Work is AT&T DSL
Home is Comcast -
While I know it is far too late to even consider this....
(Unless the Dev's have thought of this themselves and have decided to do it)
But an 'invasion vanguard' of sorts between..
Rularuu - similiar to when they first appeared for us.
Rikti - cause.. they are always screwing around trying to gain more footholds.
And sadly Praetorians - cause they are the current focus group right now.
But if 'event invasions' could be happening featuring all three at once?
Drop ships flying overhead
Eyes in the sky
Troopers on the ground
Robots
Aliens
Oh my!
No place would be safe haha
Could be fun to blast a Rikti, punch a Praetorian and obliterate a Rularuu or two -
Vista at work has zero problems loading the forums.
Windows 7 at home has been having constant issues with not loading, slow loading mashing the refresh in hopes of something happening.
What exactly IS going on with NCSoft lately?
And I don't just mean the forums not loading. -
I have been reading all the posts that I can find regarding this issue.
While there are some that would incorporate a mechanic based system where participation for certain 'goals' determines the end result.
Others want a pure random event such as we have in place for task/strike forces.
For myself, I would rather go with random without any participation rewards. There are simply far too many 'conditions' that could or would apply to result in 'participation'.
Keep the streak breaker idea in place, so you wouldn't forever be stuck with bad rolls per say, but keep it random so everyone is on equal footing whether they are a AOE damaging death dealing massive murdering machine of devastating proportions.... or.... a carefully crafted empathatic essence of nature who exists to support the AOE maniac
BOTH have viable places on a team, both have valid ways to participate and neither is useless to a team.
iXP would be applied equally to the entire League and equally to each person within the League.
WHY we are penalized for being asked to take a specific task such as AV instead of ADD's goes way beyond good design to me.
What would possess the design team to think it was a good idea or even fair to have iXP split among team and not even equal within a given team.
They have taken a clean simple system and twisted it into a convoluted mess that we currently are forced to endure.
For myself..
I 'had' been willing to run several through the incarnate system taking up much more time than normal.
Now.. with this current 'plan' in effect... I will limit my exposure to this to one maybe two characters. Forcing myself through this 'content' with more than one solely to be able to help my friends and teammates with a choice of characters.
What does that say about a system that is in place if someone who has been here since launch doesn't want to endure their 'participation reward' program? -
Issue 21 should be in approx 3 to 4 mos. That is the history and probably what PR has for scheduling. That is their 'inside' timeline.
They will only tell their customers when they can give a very close to certain proximation of a scheduled release.
This is all normal and to be expected from a company. Announcing a timeframe too soon and not being able to keep it is not a good thing.
Issue 21 will most likely contain the last four slots. We will have to face off against the remaining Cole Lt's in the next two trials.
Issue 21 will probably also contain 2 small TF/SF for the lower levels as did Issue 20. I say small because of the time frame they can be done in.
I believe Issue 21 will be like this because of how 19 and 20 were handled and what we have been getting for some time now in terms of 'issue content'.
We *might* get a few random pieces of costumes by then, but most likely not. Paid boosters seem to be the way they want to go now. Also the art department is tied up with demands from the 'issues'.
I personally feel that Issue 22 will have the Omega slot and the final confrontation with ole numbnuts Tyrant Cole.
We will see then a revamp of one of the Legacy TFs as the team will have the 'time' since only the final slots and trial will be agaisnt Cole.
Again I think this because of the way and type of content that has been released.
It *could* be that the coming storm which has been the slowest ever coming stormwill be in the issue, but I highly suspect that will be at best Issue 23.
As for Developer Communication.....
I think.. that we should try to thank Jack for having the team be so very talkative since the beginning.
Then, we should thank Posi for continuing it.
Now... we should look to Melissa and ask her to continue that with us.
We *have* grown used to high communication, in fact, we now expect it.
Do we have a *right* to expect that? In terms of the community feel and perception, yes we do. In terms of our dollars expecting it. No, we don't.
We lost two very vocal people when Brawler was let go and Castle quit.
Why haven't the two replacements stepped up and continued that high vocals with us? Why has Melissa allowed the communication to dwindle so much?
I realize that posting to the forums is not their job requirement. However, we are always told that they love and play the game.
We don't always need to know the inside reason why they choose to do X or Y.
But I feel, we do need to feel the connection to the Dev team as we have in the past. We do need to feel like even those making the game are part of the community too. A community, which even the Reviews have stated is a tight nit and positive force for this game.
So.... Melissa.. encourage the posting again. It doesn't always have to be about X or Y, it can be about... Jay posting notes why you are talking on the live chat. It could be about questions and discussions relating to anything. And yes.. it can also be about why X was done over Y too if desired. -
I haven't done any calculations as frankly I don't have that much time available to invest into it.
I can say that I have played my signature EN/EN blaster on enough runs to get teir 3's on all four slots. I have only ever gotten one Very Rare component on him.
He is built for being able to constantly fire an attack without ever having to run out of endurance unless he uses Nova.
So, I am always shooting something.. always.
Now...
My IL/Rad controller who only has three fast recharging attacks , near perma PA and the phantasm has run the trials four times so far.
2 uncommon
2 Very Rare
Now I *am* using the two rad debuffs constantly and firing off the regen debuffers as often as they recharge to. So something is always glowing green out there. But they are pretty much fire and forget for most of the fights.
Does this help or hinder those who are formulating conclusions?
I really wish I could transfer this to my main but alas we can not haha.
Just thought those forming conclusions might want to hear about this. -
Fellow forumites,
Questions:
1) Who is concentrating on solely one character now to fully unlock all available slots and equipping them instead of multiple characters?
- I am concentrating on just my main for the moment. I do have four other incarnates unlocked and fully alpha slotted. BUT.. I also enjoy playing alts. Sooo ugh.. game time is stretched and now seeming to look like 'work' to do this and still find time for alts.
2) Are you continuing to run the Weekly Task Forces?
- As of I20, no 'so far'. Perhaps for diversion or to help out those I know if they need someone.
3) Do the unlocked alpha's even need to run them anymore?
(I know we can always if we 'want' to)
- I don't know other than for basic salavage conversion, but the I20 content seems better suited to that. All five of my incaranates are top tier alpha slotted.
4) Who has more than one or two incarnates that they will bring up through this BAF & Lambda 'raids'.
- THIS... I don't know, perhaps over the long haul of months maybe?? -
Quote:Aura,And yet there are already some people stating they got their tier 3 in some of the new slots the day the issue went live.
That happens with every issue in this game and with other games as well.
There will always be 'some people' who will get to the max within an obscenely short time period of new content.
The Dev team can not and should not put together content/salvage/whatever based on the minority of people. They should base it on the whole of the game, the leveling/accomplishment speed of the 'average' based on the raw data they have. This way the minority can only skew that data to a small relative degree.
As for the OP, I agree that we have enough salvage types in the game already. -
Quote:I understand where you are coming from with this. However, I think you're presuming that he was 'only' powerful enough to punch a gangster at that time.Ok, we were told that Statesman and Lord Recluse were incarnates who, unlike us, drank from the well too completely and gained their power too fast. This idea seems to fall apart from watching our very own intro video. Clearly, Statesman started out punching gangsters and over time grew powerful enough to drop a Rikti mothership out of the sky. This was the basis for our character having levels so that we too could become more powerful over time. Now if there is some variable I missed, I would love to know what it is, but as it stands, this seems to be a glaring omission.
Perhaps, that is just how he started out, as powerful as he is (because it is said he doesnt want more power), but the only villains around were the mobsters.
Using the strength that can punch through a Rikit mothership on a human face would not be a good thing. He was probably just pulling a Superman and holding back.
As time and the energies of the box were released, that is when he was forced to use more and more of his strength etc. When you face a guy with a gun, you smack him.
When you face a guy inside armor, you punch through the armor and smack him.
When you face something inside a mothership, you punch through it and smack him.
Statesman is not a natural killer, he doesn't want to kill unless he is left no other choice I believe. -
Oh I just *love* this launcher.... NOT
The lousy thing is causing a complete download and system check of CoH.
I could understand if I hadn't ohhhh... say... just played it YESTERDAY!!!
Geezus NCSoft.. get your collective gear together will you! -
Bounder
Take at look at Apex and Tin Mage
That is almost exactly what it is.
You are now and incarnate, embuded with power from the well of the furies itself. Blessed by whatever in the world first gave you those abilities you started off with.
You have faced off against lvl 50 mobs with ease before your new level.
You have reached a new level of power... now....
Go face off against some low life fools who happen to be 4 levels higher than you are!
Ps: Good Luck and happy Incarnatedom to you -
