I hard-linked my CoX folder to the steam one, 1 partial install and I can now update/play using either method Updater/Steam

Traps FFG has a similar problem.
My Bots MM has it, and it keeps blocking doorways etc,
All MM pets (and sub-pets) should really be pushable, and also not spawn on the MM themselves. -
It's the little things that also make a difference,
They could have hotfixed the MA buildings zones a few times with demolition, fencing, cranes, construction and finally the finished MA buildings...
For players who never visit the forums or bother to read the intro info, this would of helpd draw their interest that some changes were coming in those locations...
Aparently they have done this before, but were too busy with the bugged MA (It's losing a load of badges come I15) to bother with the small details...
They could of used the same MA construction model in all MA zones with a new look evey so often leading to the opening of the MA buildings.
You know under construction, coming soon, opening on <date> signs and building work.
Give the cities that feeling that they are alive, then I can feel that I accomplish something with each generic mission, as the city would keep growing... -
As I previously suggested:
1. I personally support an option of a max of 5 levels via AE's MA, until you gain at least 1 level normally, which would equate to letting you gain another through training...
2. A reduction in inf/prestige in MA mission mode, along with an increase in tickets and an auto MA mission drop (with warning) if you go to leave the MA building(s)
I see MA as combat training, and as such you should really only be able to gain a few levels through training (patrol xp style up to 5 levels), you don't really rescue anyone or such during training so you shouldn't gain much reputation (inf/prest) from training, the same way as the defeat x (skulls etc.) badges don't work in the MA (or shouldn't) to balance this you should really get more tickets for the training simulator...
I see this as not stopping players leveling in the MA to avoid mission grind but to also persuade them to play the real content/zones as well as with the training simulator. -
Which was first: Heal Badges or Scrappers Dark Armor?
I would guess the heal badges, as such they may not be configured to read dark heals on either side... OOPS!
I would guess at a fix coming Soon...
Additional note: The healing badges are for healing others (not yourself) whilst you are in supergroup mode. -
I think it has something to do with the fact the AE (MA) buildings are in the busiest zones, and that entering the building keeps you in that zone, until you enter a holomish...
Maybe they should get moved to their own zone? -
Def % to avoid DMG type
Res % to reduce DMG from DMG type
95% Def gives them a 5% chance to hit you for the full DMG
Res can actually reduce the DMG but won't stop it hitting you.
I like to think of Def as the opposite of ToHit and Accuracy
Sort of a typed 'Spidersense'.
Res is more of a ok I can't stop that hitting me, but how much DMG can I shake off. -
Safemode for CoX graphics is a little toggle box on the updater screen...
Page 1: Version Info
Bottom Right Button: Next >
Page 2: EULA
Bottom Right Button: I Agree
Just left of the 'I Agree' button is the CoX gfx 'Safemode []' checkbox. -
Looks to me like it's basic Notebook GFX rather than a dedicated graphics card.
Query: Does it happen with graphics set to safemode on starting CoX?
And yes I'm a qualified PC Tech!
Edit: Also change your game shortcut to include -renderthread 1 after the .exe"
.exe" -renderthread 1
That will let CoX run in Multi Core/Cpu mode -
Oh and don't forget you can convert existing base salvage to more useful common salvage too, rather than just deleting it.
-
XP (32 bit) can handle 4 Gb but if you have a 256 Kb graphics card, then its address space is taken from XP's memory address space...
<----><----><----><----> 4 Gb (4096 Kb)
<----><----><----><---> 4 Gb less 256 Kb (3840 Kb)
Most of the other settings are accessed from ingame...
Menu - Options - Graphic Options - Advanced (button)
For users with multicore CPU's changing the shortcut target to include -renderthread 1 should activate CoX multithreaded mode. -
American English... American
English/British English... English
Australian English... English
Note only the Americans call our similar language something different, like they invented it.
This is the same as Americans winning the 'Battle of Britain' because Hollywood said so! -
Anyone confirm if /Sync helps?

Try loading the game with the 'safe mode' option ticked,
this will set minimum graphics settings etc, but hopefully will load the game enough to get your character clear of this issue until support can resolve it for you! -
Level 45 and 50 IO's actually sell for a lot less than their craft cost due to players wanting to craft IO Sets instead!
I have previously suggested that a vending machine of sorts be added to Uni's and Bases to sell (cheap) salvage needed for memorised IO Recipes, Tagged as both unsellable and only useable for the memorised IO recipes... -
I'd say someting similar to patrol exp...
Can gain a maximum of 5 levels in the MA as holographic training, until you gain 5 levels normally,
(Every normal level then gained would allow you to gain another via the MA)
Also MA power leveled characters could get flagged in a similar way to kheldians, but instead of random nictus they could get random Boss level ambushes!
(I heard $name isn't a real $faction so lets go get em...)
-----
As for the OP,
1. Ever tried making something without the parts?
I would suggest a salvage type vending machine for Bases/Uni's which would allow you to buy at basic value, non sellable salvage for any recipe you have memorised.
I feel this would make the cost required to get these badges more favorable.
Just my 2 inf... -
I did notice that MA downtime was listed, I would assume the daily means the MA Server going offline for them to process the MA arc's needing adjustment etc...
This specific one probably included bringing the test fixes to live at the same time...

Architect Edition is available in EU for £9.99 via Steam.
(Including 1 month and SuperBooster Pack option Free)
Steam will also re-install CoX in it's own directory, however you can remove installed files via the link's Right-Click menu, and still run it normally, as the code creates/upgrades accounts as normal. -
Ten Ton Tank
Arock Hardplace / Arock Anda Hardplace
'The' Wall
Mountain Man
Concrete Feet Pete
Golden Fist / 'The' Champion
(With Veteran Boxing Costume) -
IMHO the arcs should be tagged internally with US/EU creation info, that way a @global message would be sent to the correct creator...
@global message being sent to @EUglobal and @USglobal
The EU/US internal option sending it to those servers and then converting it to a server side @global -
Non Steam purchased CoX installation info...
Load: Steam
Select Tab: My Games
Click Button: 'Add non-Steam game...'
Highlight (by clicking on the line showing): City of Heroes C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\
Click the check box for: City of Heroes C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\
Click Button: 'Add selected programs'
Steam should now list CoX with a message: Shortcut - Ready
Highlight your new CoX listing and then either right-click and select Properties or just click the Properties button
In the target box showing: "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"
Adjust this to: "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.EU.exe"
Add any additional options if required such as: -compatiblecursors 1
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.EU.exe" -compatiblecursors 1
Click Button: 'Close'
Your game is now runnable via the Steam Launcher...
If it fails to run...
Go into your C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\ directory...
Rename the CohUpdater.exe executeable to CohUpdater.EU.exe!
This little fix can also help adjust botched US/EU Install's
US CoX: CohUpdater.exe
EU CoX: CohUpdater.EU.exe
Note: I copied and renamed this file so I could run either version of CoX. -
Thanks Craggy,
I'm an ideas person at heart and not really any good at explaining things non-technically...
You however have done an excelent translation of what I was trying to get over with my suggestions.
Techbot_Alpha:
Why not have all existing Veterans being given the option of having a vet reward respec?
At least that way everyone from Beta up could re-select their rewards if they wanted to, just like a costume change token is issued when new costumes become available.
