I've been asked a few times in the CoH Forums and on deviantArt where do I look for Commissions, and in particular where can you score a bargain. So here's a little tip.
I'm not as big a collector of art as TA, Rowr, Bayani or Feral Kat and I have to be scrupulous with my money as I'm not from the US.
But at this time of year quite a few deviantArt artists are chopping rates for Commissions to get money for the Holiday Season, Winter Break, bills, presents etc.
And if you're vigilant and careful you can pick up some nice Commissions at very low prices (I can't mention exact figures here).
So check out Job Services over at deviantArt, pick through what's on offer and find a style you like - hopefully you'll get a bargain.
But that's not to say that our resident artists here aren't good! (I'm slowly getting Commissions off them as well).
-
Well, it never hurts to ask an artist if they do they requests or commissions, unless it's blatantly obvious from the thread that they're not interested in that.
I tend to do that more on deviantArt (especially when scoping out commission) than here as I prefer to read and view the efforts of this local community of artists.
It's very encouraging to see how an aspiring artist's talent progresses over the weeks and months through their works, and while I may not always comment (especially due to studies now), I try to read through new threads, and updates.
So hats off to all of you artists who labor to breathe life into player created heroes and villains and immortalize them. Without you, CoX would be a far less interesting game.

I would dearly love a Bruce Timmish image done of my Communist Crusader, Comrade Hero!.
Thanks for your consideration Ghostman. -
Very nicely thought out BAS.
Just a small pointer.
Please remember that not all of us use English as a first language.
So don't feel insulted or aggravated when someone comments on a piece or posts in a request thread and it is illegible or the meaning is unclear.

Plas is just a very sleek design, hard to make her look bad in a picture.

Definitely agree there. If only you could customize the Nova blast like Plas suggested. -

5? Meh. I'd say 20, at least. He has to scream for 7, talk with the bad guy for 5, 7 for the bad guy to power up.. And 1 to screw in the light bulb.
[/ QUOTE ]
And remember the facial expressions - 7 concerned, 5 angry, and 7 constipated. -
-
Very nice and hopefully it didn't take you ten episodes to power up to that level!

red dove, a lil to peaceful for what I am looking for. while the name is good for the nice lil play given the intended violent nature it doesnt 'oppose' whiteperegrine to my liking.
...that said I do appreciate the thought you put into it though...very much indeed Derek. thanx
the current in game 'working' model of WP's archnemesis, I give thee the stygian crow.
...the in game working model is different that the conceptual look I am going for and I suspect I should have something sketched out tomorrow for her. also...may change, may not...just getting a feel for her at the moment...which I will say I like thus far...but things could change after I play 'er a bit and sleep on it.~

Nicely done WP. Stygian Crow is a really nice name. Here's hoping you get your Archnemesis ready to pin WP's wings to the wall! -

Ooh, it has come to me! The Carrion Crow! It has flight, it's black with sickly green highlights, it's a scavenger, and -- for good mirror imagery -- the name is the opposite of White Peregrine's syllablically.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well done. That's the first truly original villain name I've heard in a while - a Carrion Crow. Most definitely.
I also agree with Graver's Ego vs. Id arguments. -

A serial killer who keep crawling back from the grave?

I like that, I like that a lot.
Getting back on track. Rambling here:
An Archnemesis may be many things but despite the many different why's and how's the one general theme that sticks out is obsession.
The Archnemesis is obsessed with achieveing a specific goal(s) (usually not good) against the Hero.
There is some aspect about the Hero or a key defining moment or encounter (direct or indirect - real or imagined) that is the cause of the Archnemesis' obsession.
The Archnemesis poses a very real (and almost constant) threat to the safety of the Hero (and public). The Archnemesis is generally equal or superior to the Hero in a specific area - powers, abilities, talents or resources.
Rambling ends... brain depleted. Hope that helps. -
Me been a quiet little mouse lately. Have started a Bachelor of Applied Sciences so my little brain is a hive of industry.
Here's two images of Rack.
A quick Come Here! by Jeremy Farlow

Here's another image done for me by Dmitrys, this time of my heroine Albtraum.
I also made a CoH Hero Profile for her.
Enjoy! -

Didn't I used to watch Comrade Hero on TV when I was a kid? I think he came on right after Speed Buggy... What was that theme song.....?
(dum,da,dum,dum,da-tah!) "Here comes COMRADE HERO, here to save the day!" (da-tah!) "When they see COMRADE HERO the bad guys stay away!"(dat-da-daaa)
...well, if there wasn't a Saturday Morning Cartoon, there should have been. I would have watched it!

True but I don't think a Communist Superhero following Roger Ramjet would have gone across to well at the time -

Good stuff, I'm usually nitpicky about the more toony styles, but that's a great picture. As if it were an animation cel from an actual episode.
By the way, I added you to the links page. =)
