Quote:I've never seen RP'ers complain that someone wasn't playing their arcs. I've only seen "No one can find our arcs because farms clutter up the UI."and the rpfreaks will have it all to themselves. Then they will start complaining that no one plays their arcs..."Devs..make them play with me!!!!"
When farms take up 95+% of the AE UI, the fault isn't on the devs or the "Rp'ers." -
Quote:So in order for people to stop doing it requires them to completely remove it from game?no longer exists. If it did they would have removed the ability of mobs to rez.
If that was the case, then the only thing we'd have is a costume creator and a chat box. No mission, no items... nothing.
The game isn't "your" creation, it's theirs. If they see someone taking advantage of something, rather than remove it from the people that aren't taking advantage, they fix it.
Remember the old CoP? They removed it. It was gone for, what, 6 years just because people figured out how to exploit it. They shelved it because it wasn't a priority. I don't think they will ever do something like that again.
It's easier to take an pain reliever for a headache instead of chopping off your head. -
Quote:Well, compared to the "old" farms, I assume MARTy only reports on tons of active players doing the same thing (ie. the same mission, the same custom powers for mobs in each map, the same length of time, etc.). If the old farms are not being run as often, or even at all, then MARTy won't register it.Apparently MARTy wasn't being tripped with the *old* farms. (It kicks in and throttles/eliminates rewards for a time.) So what makes you think it will do anything *now?*
If there is no one to play the old farms that are still in AE, then how can MARTy register them?
But, is MARTy supposed to be the reporting feature or the actual feature that disables earning rewards? What I got from the Dev thread was that MARTy gathers data, sends it in and then they take the data, find a solution then patch something that would then limit based on the feedback from MARTy. I don't believe MARTy is the plan that makes the fix rather just the messenger that sends what /should/ be fixed. -
And in a few days MARTy will have all the data needed and a patch will be forthcoming. I find it funny that in a few months, AE will most likely be limited to no XP, no inf, and only 250 ticket per completion :P

Risk vs Reward

Forgot to mention the "Volcanic Aura" that made its way into the Featured category
-
Just looked at the Paragon Picks > Featured section and there is a "Volcanic aura" listed at 80 points. There is no specific icon and the description is: "The Volcanic aura causes flame, smoke and bits of molten lava to burst sporadically from your character. Once purchased, this is available for all characters on your account. NOTE: THIS IS A ONE-TIME PURCHASE."
Is this a brandy-new aura or is it one from a pack that I just can't remember? -
Quote:Ok, seriously... sure, you can remove a ++ Hami-O, but it removes the +'s! >: (
Enhancement Base Storage- Players should be able to add or remove + and ++ enhancements from base storage.
- This does not apply to any Invention Origin Enhancements that have been level boosted.
I just went to grab a 52++ Nuc Hami-O and it was converted down into a 50. I wouldn't have pulled it from storage if it was going to do that! -
Quote:But we're better than that here! We're VIP's!Of course people HAVE used that thread to 1) take names and sit on them 2) take names to trade with 3) say "I have such and such name and I plan to just sit on it and keep it formyself"
*tilts head back and lifts nose into the air*
Good day to you!
*walks out* -
Shiver me timbers! It be Talk like a Pirate day! Yarrr!

I've been trying to run some Flashbacks via Ouro and the majority of missions don't seem to have the click-"target" set correctly. I've had to open all categories then slowly scroll up or down to find the "sweet spot" so that I can begin the missions.
Anyone else seeing this issue? -

Quote:QFT. Seriously, OP, you're thinking from only your own point of view. Kids today aren't all that bright. Look at reality tv. You think most of the kids today that can repeat the entire cast list of Jersey Shore are Rhodes Scholars? If the tutorial feels dumbed down, they did it for a reason. No offense, but it really sounds like some people here are really on a crusade here. You've been here since I2, I've been around since maybe...I3?
1) What was the last time you needed to play the tutorial to learn something?
*holds up shield to block the incoming tomato bombs* -
Quote:As they say, if it ain't broke then don't fix it. CoH was broke. It was broke to a lot of people. The subscription numbers showed that. They changed the way the game was because they WANT to get new players. Sure, they can get only so far with "vets" but they're really not getting anywhere.... That was like showing respect for the players' creativity right from the beginning. Now it's more like, "Okay, whoever you are, get in there and fight!")
And please don't go there. We still have as much freedom, even more so now. "Oh, my character can't..." I call bull on that. You can create ANY AT now and bring them to whatever side you wish... from the start. You don't need to level a MM to 20 then switch sides. You can still RP whoever your character is in whatever way you want. The tutorial doesn't limit you in any way. -
Solution:
Destroyed Galaxy given the designation "Tutorial Start Zone." Then while you level from 1-19, you complete the tutorial.
They replaced the tutorial and gave us 20 levels to get through. And it's not like they're hard to get through. You learn the system.
You complain that "in the old tutorial it was cut and dry, I can get through it, learn what "I" need to and bam, on my way into Atlas" (paraphrasing) But, you miss the point... 20 LEVELS you gain through the new tutorial. And it's not any longer than the original 20 levels. In fact, I believe you gain the 20 levels much faster now.
So it's not like you're wasting time doing the tutorial. You're doing something, learning and leveling as fast as ever.
Here's a gift horse. What are you going to do with it? -
I don't see many people transferring level 5 alts in.
I had always assumed that everyone knew that to get a free rename you make an alt on the destination server with the same name, then transfer the alt in for the free rename token. -
Also chiming in. What the posters above posted is correct. Also, getting to know who the heroes/villains are isn't part of the tutorial. You're not supposed to find out about them because they are not the focus of the tutorial. You are.
In the old tutorial, you did things as they came. Or you didn't. You could waste time killing baddies for a badge THEN you moved on. Well, the new tutorial is supposed to be fast paced. The world is being destroyed. You have to quickly decide on on what role you are going to play. Save the day and be a hero or jump in and reap the rewards of the shivans misdeeds?
Once you decide, THEN the tutorial starts.
The tutorial isn't meant, now, to be a wham-bam and them start the story of Paragon. The new tutorial lasts from 1-20'ish. You're taken from level to level learning the intricacies of the game rather than read a pop-up you click "OK" to exit. You're shown what to do in a situation. You're shown how the UI works. You're shown all of the things that might have taken you 2 months to figure out on your own. And during that time, you're leveling up and learning the new story of Paragon/Mercy and Galaxy.
I think this is much better than a quick intro and send you out on your own.
And, if you dont like all that, skip it! Once you're in Atlas/Mercy, you can run around, level up with or without the new story arcs, then continue on your merry way.
CoH Freedom really has the best of both worlds now. -
Exalted is still new and unlike the 7 year old servers, there are still "OMG PLNTY" of names not taken. Yet people are running around on alts with a period or apostrophe at the end of their name?
I mean, we didn't start seeing that till about 4 years into the game. Now brand new alts, on a brand new server, are doing it? Am I missing something or is "." and " ' " the newest trend to hit MMO's? -
I don't believe the idea of the thread should be "Hey, I snagged these names and I might be willing to make a deal and here are some names that I'm NOT willing to trade."
The idea was that if you found a name that was available and you didn't claim it for yourself, or that you had a name and are willing to give/trade it away, that you would post here.
See the Virtue Name Watch Thread for reference. It's grown to just about 13,000 posts of people sharing names. Not too bad for an RP server.
There are a few other name threads for bragging rights -
Quote:The log-out bug isn't something on NCsoft's side of things. The issue, a very well known one, is a vBulletin software issue that the developers at vBulletin have yet to fix.I actually do find it rather annoying and I almost started a thread on it. Colored names is one thing, but if you are going to work on the forum, fix the freaking log out bug first.
I have a thread bookmarked on my other PC that's at the vBulletin help site that is at least a hundred pages long that licensee's of their software have been complaining about for at least a year. It might have something to do with the software not reading/writing cookies correctly.
Strangely enough, after chaning my master account password to regain access to the forums, I haven't had the log out issue. Think it's been 2 days and I haven't been looged out. -
Forum name color seems, at least to me, back to white.

Went to change my avatar and it wont accept any new avatars regardless of the format. >: (
*Edit*
Ok, that was weird. The Avatar didn't save on the Edit Avatar screen. Went and edited my profile and the avatar appeared -
lol, it basically is a rick roll. As a goof, I applied and made up all kinds of stuff and submitted it. A day later I received an email saying that I was over qualified. Then at the very bottom of the email was something like:
*We are legally obligated to inform you that this is not a real job offering. -
What I got from the OP, is that he's been disgruntled for a while and used Freedom's EULA as a soapbox to give his last two cents before he "quits." But with free to play coming in a couple days, he'll still have his soapbox to preach (albeit in limited form) without subscribing to the game.
