Just wanted to make the offer incase anyone that used to play on Virtue was looking to trade an awesome name they still have there for one I have on Freedom.
Looking to trade the name "Clone" (the actual word, not the 'I' for 'L' substituion trick) for something equally as awesome on Virtue. (Would love to get my hands on the name "Commander" btw :P )
I'm looking for one word (descriptive) names, no spellng tricks, and hopefully a name that's equally as wanted as the name "Clone."
Feel free to PM me with offers.
Thanks,
AC -
I dunno what it is. Lately, CoH starts to crawl after an hour of playing. When I check the CPU, it's running close to 100%. Normally, while playing CoH, it uses about 1 1/2 gigs of ram, but when it starts to crawl, it hits close to 4 gigs.
This only happens when I play CoH, however. Never have this issue when I play Aion.
Here's some info:

A couple of years ago, I had a dream. In this dream, we were able to enter "Valhalla." But, this version of Valhalla was something that would be like merging Mercy Island, Atlas Park, and Nova Praetoria.
In our "Valhalla," we would have access to many different features. There would be a "wall of heroes past" that listed the names of level 50 alts that were inactive for more than a year. You could then click on their names and read any bio information or badges. This way you could still "remember" the friends you had that left. Kind of like a tribute to all of those that had fallen.
In our "Valhalla," there would be a giant Funeral Hall where people could go to "kill off" an alt. In reality, what you would be doing is locking, and saving that character info and freeing up character slots (beyond 36) and allowing you to make, save, and restore alts that were deleted/frozen. Then once you have all 36 slots taken up, you can repeat the process so you could have unlimited alts per server.
In our "Valhalla," there would be a giant "Hall of Records" that would allow you to view all of your characters data. Time of creation, hours played, etc. You could then allow/disallow access to others so they could view your data.
In our "Valhalla," also in the "Hall of Records," we would be able to copy character data so that way you could temporarily copy a character to another server, play, get badges, earn items, then after the time period you selected has expired, the character data is returned to its homeserver and the temp copy is deleted from the new server.
In our "Valhalla," there would be a specific area for RP'ing things like Weddings. There would be a contact that pulls the character info ($name, $gender, etc) and would have a random announcement flash across the screen, so that all in the area could witness the "wedding vows."
In a nutshell, "Valhalla" would be a multipurpose zone that would, basically, have all of the proposed "Vault" info available, ingame, rather than have the server issues when it comes to pulling data outside of the game. -
Quote:Knives of Artemis have a great-looking sword. I'd love to see that for the sword sets. I wouldn't mind seeing the Ballista helmet either.
Also, Resistance Pistols for Dual Pistols.
I have been asking for this sword for years. Plz, Mr. Noble Savage.... pllllzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!
-
Quote:He's stated that they'd like to make new versions, but with time issues, the idea is taking what's already in game and converting it for player use....
David's pretty much agreed to doing new pieces anyway. He certainly seems to want to.
I don't think you make as much sense as you seem to think you thunk you do.
All I stated is that rather than take a ton of old items, choose one that defines the NPC enemy and make an Ultra version for player use. I suggested ways I wouldn't have a problem obtaining them, then you crashed down on the whole idea because you'd rather not have to have more unlockables.
The idea isn't about how to obtain them. That's what you are getting hung up on. The idea is getting quality over quantity. Hell, I'd love if they unlocked every costume piece for us to use. But, if the quality of the item remains 6 years old, I'd probably never have a use for the item especially when all of the new stuff is far superior to the old. -
Quote:Don't get caught up on how to obtain it. First, let's get them to agree to making new bits and pieces. Rather than call off the war before the first battle starts, let them see that the main point is that we want more items, regardless. There already are. Their called IOs and HamiOs. Purples and PvP IOs.
Costumes are the one thing that should never be classed as 'high end' rewards. Doing the ITF for Roman armour? That makes sense. You get a full set of costume parts for doing a thematic, tied in TF.
Doing a MoLGTF for one costume part? No. Just no. Having to pay stupid ammounts of Vanguard merits for the VG armour is bad enough.
Now they know we want more, and are asking "what" we'd like to have. Don't flush the toilet because of speculated ways to earn the items. Lets get them to agree on having the items in the first place.
(Note: when I mentioned "Rikti head/Mask" I'm not referring to a selectable hat or accessory item. I'd like to actually get a Rikti Head model that's unlockable. I'd like to have it as a Monsterous head and have some secondary accessories, like mouth guard or full helmet. Not just a simple mask from the pulldown menu.) -
Quote:So, rather than take an idea and change it to your own liking, you'd rather flush it down the toilet? Forget the "Master of" runs. You mean to tell me you'd rather have a 6 year old costume piece than an new "Ultra Mode" version of it?NO!
Hell damn NO to locking costume pieces behind TFs and s*** like that, especially not Master of runs! Hell, the Epaulets being locked behind all the old, boring Phalanx TFs is bad enough, especially since Villains don't get access to them.
/Ultra Unsigned
All I gave were examples of ways to obtain it. To me, it doesn't matter how to obtain it. Would I pay $10 for just a Ultra Mode Rikti Mask? Yep. I'd rather earn it as an unlockable, ingame, no matter the stipulations to earning it. Just having the option of having new models is my real suggestion.
I can see where the Devs would rather put out new items, rather than rehash old stuff. There is always a point they have to stop something, no matter how needed it is, and move onto something new and fresh. So, why not just take some old ideas, remodel them, and sell them as something new? Nike and Reebok do the same thing everyday and make a killing at it. -
Quote:With Ultra Mode a key part of the game, wouldn't any conversion need to be updated? I mean, most groups (as someone mentioned) still look pixelated and 6 years old. Why not take the idea and change it?Anything is possible, but at that point, it's a new piece and not a conversion.
Instead of converting something that looks old, take one (1) costume piece from a certain group and make a "Ultra" version of it. Something that defines the signature group (5th Column, Freakshow, etc.) and make it an unlockable.
As much as I'd love to be able to look like any NPC in game, the NPC's (with Ultra mode) look a bit lackluster.
So, I propose a series of "Ultra Unlockables":
Ultra 5th Column Face Mask: awarded for defeating a 5th Column in a 5th Column Task Force (maybe attach to a 'Master of' Badge; since it's 'Ultra' after all)
Ultra Freakshow Chest Piece: awarded for defeating Freakshow
Ultra Rikti Head/Mask: awarded for defeating Rikti percentage in a Lady Grey Task Force (maybe attach to a 'Master of' Badge; since it's 'Ultra' after all)
See where I'm going? Yes, it would have to mean making new items, but in the longrun, you're still going to have to make new items anyway. Why not make new versions of things people have been craving? Leave the NPC's to their old, drab costumes. We're the stars of the show, correct? We should be the ones that the NPC's are jealous of!

What I find interesting is the red lightning cracking in the background.
Weather Effects ftw -
There is a chance that the sound effect could have been from another game. However, what you could do is wait for the person to leave their appt. then quickly run past them, wearing your Arachnos cape, and shout, "Excuse me! Can you tell me which way is Atlas Park? I just went Rogue and I'm not exactly sure which way the Tram is."
If he responds and tells you that you need to take a left at Citadel, you know you've found another fan.
If he doesn't respond, just stare at him and break out the /em robotdance emote. He should walk away. If he calls the Police, tell them that you don't recognize their authority as you are a citizen of the Rogue Isles.
Either way, you make a new friend: the person in the next appt. or the guy in the drunk tank. -
Quote:That's the good thing about the "Save" features in the costume creator. No need to guess anymore.Old version or new version I don't care, just please don't saddle me with any chores. I mean the other departments there don't seem to mind doing that ("Have fun turning off pop-ups on 30 characters!"), but here's hoping the art department won't go doing me the favor of any resets.
(Also, in your options settings you have a save feature too. You can select to turn off Pop Ups, hit save, then go into any alt and have the option of hitting "Load" to turn them off. Any character created after the file is saved is made with Pop Ups turned off, by default, too)

Quote:I believe this is what Noble Savage is saying. So, let me understand this: The "new" pieces would NOT have bump-mapped textures added to them, like what was done to, say, "Hearts" or "Angelic" with the Wedding Pack? They would merely have sharper, smoother outlines?
Example: If you used a Legacy Top Piece and colored it black, then used a newer costume piece like the Alpha Pants and colored it black, you would have two totally different "shades" of black.
I believe what Noble is saying that no matter what kind of costume piece you use, all shades and colors will blend seamlessly from one costume piece into another. The only thing that they would need to do is take the existing texture and make it compatable with newer textures. This way, in each booster/issue release, all costume pieces will be interchangable with each other.
Basically, you'd have the same exact item except you would have a "standard" texture overhaul so things like colors have a "standard" rather than have varrying shades.
Of course, some costume pieces will "need" to have changes. Some costume pieces have transparencies where there shouldn't be. Almost any pattern, when colored white, will be transparent white with a flesh undertone. I'm assuming that once the changes are made, you will have full white rather than see through. -
I vote Option 1.
Why?
Most of the graphics in game are close to 10 years old. Going back to the teaser trailers released in 2002 and 2003, many of the same costume pieces were being used. That means most of the graphics were made using standards of 2001-2002.
We're heading into 2011. While most of the game is being given an overhaul, there is little to no need to be using the same standards from 10 years ago. Why? Because computers/video cards from 10 years ago have become obsolete (or close to it.)
There is NOTHING (with the exception of programs made for fanatics that can not move on) on the current market being made specifically for hardware that is 10 years old. City of Heroes should be no exception.
David has said that no files will be removed. That all pre-existing items will be given a textural overhaul. That's what the game has needed for at least 5 years.
I know players that sit by and cry "More is better! More options is always better!" Well, it's not. If you are someone that uses any of the newer costume pieces, you can plainly see that 80% of the older files look horrible when used in conjunction. Why take a step backwards and make the newer pieces compatible with the older pieces? You're only making your characters look less than "super" when compared to the scenery (and upcoming scenery changes.)
Now ask yourself this: How many of you, in your wardrobe, only have and wear clothes that are 10+ years old? I'm sure the majority of people have moved onto new clothes rather than wear faded clothes from 10,000+ washings. Why should your in-game avatars be any different?
I'm guessing the majority of people wanting Option 2 are mainly doing so to hold onto a bit of nostalgia. While nostalgia is good, it should NEVER be a determining factor to stop progress, be it in real life or in a game.
No. It's been FAR too long to have to wait around to make our characters live up to the "super" moniker. There is no sense in heading into the future while wearing old, dingy and faded clothes from a decade ago. -

Quote:I'll go one further and say that Praetorian Earth never split from Pangea. So, if our North America was still connected to the African continent, the weather might be able to support tropical vegitation since most of North America would be a lot closer to the equator.Must have been a change in climate as well for all those palm trees to be growing in Rhode Island.
Oh no, global warming!

Although it was removed from the game: "The Chosen One."
I still have the title set on a few alts.

Residents... or if we have a European game account?

How am I just noticing this just now? :P
Thanks all. -
Quote:And the bonus pack will still be $6.99.I guess it doesn't really matter. Eventually GR will be free anyway, just like CoV was...
The Complete Collection is $39.99. The Pre-Order was $29.99. The Complete collection comes with one month and the bonus pack. The pre-order comes with neither, and it's been known since day one that it came with nothing.
Basically, you saved $10 over the rest of the people that didn't pre-order. However, if you buy the bonus pack for $6.99, you still save $3.00 over those that waited for the complete collection. Then again, they got 30 days of play time for the extra $3.00.
In the end, what does it matter what you paid compared to what others paid? The real issue is that you didn't pay attention to what you were ordering even though the information was there.
Reading comprehension can be your friend, if you only let it. -
Interesting. Maybe it was a recent change? I could have sworn that Khan and Cuda had separate settitles a couple of months ago?
That or I'm just out of it :P
*Edit*
Hmm.. maybe they did change it. According to ParagonWiki's settitle page:
643 Master of the 5th Column Strike Force Badge Master of the 5th Column Strike Force Badge
644 Master of the 5th Column Task Force Badge Master of the 5th Column Task Force Badge -
Yep, the redside Reichsman badge is a separate badge. The Khan Master badge is completely different, even eith a separate /settitle.

I gave it some thought and I believed I didn't have any rules. But, as I rolled new alts, I stopped dead and realized that I do have rules/rituals for the game:
1.) As soon as I roll an alt, I have to remove EVERY power from the trays and set up 4 power trays. I then go into my Veteran Rewards badges and claim every power I use. Once I claim all the powers, I then set up each power tray, each row having a specific purpose (ie. tray 1 is primary, tray 2 is secondary plus hasten, tray 3 is armors, tray 4 is temp powers and any teleport powers.)
2.) I reset all chat window and load my custom chat file, which has multiple chat tabs, separated in order of frequency of use.
3.) I set the UI colors all to 50% and the transparancy to 95% and set the UI size to 82%
4.) I can not leave the tutorials without getting all badges, even if the alt is a throw away that I'll only keep for a day or two.
5.) Every IO salvage and IO recipe I sell at 1 inf. (except for PvP and Purples, which I craft and store in my base)
If I come across more, I'll post -
