Quote:Right click on the City of Heroes game in the Launcher, in the left hand menu and select "Properties"Aw, now it loads the normal City of Heroes start screen first.
How can I change it to the Praetoria one again?
Once the Properties window pops up, in the Extra Command Line Parameters (Advanced), add -uiskin 2 for the Going Rogue Startup screen or add -cov for the City of Villains Startup screen.

I've got a level 1 Nucleolus Exposure sitting in my base. I'd be willing to sell it... for 10 billion inf! :P

You can even buy up to level 50 Training Origin Enhancements with AE tickets. And yes, I have at least one level 50 alt with NOTHING but TO's :P

Quote:I feel the same way but, to me, it feels like that once Grae took off to that other game, people were shocked that a longtime founder and player just upped and walked away from the group he built around his character.I have a hard time believing that no one in this long running SG is willing to continue running it in the same spirit is had when it was first founded.
Are you honestly telling me that's not a single person willing to even try to save it? That's not sad or disappointing. It skips right into pathetic. If the SG was as important and had as much of an impact as everyone says it has, then someone must be willing to keep it going.
Yes, I know I sound harsh, but I'm not seeing any reason they should burn out or fade away, when they could keep on existing successfully.
In my opinion, someone should take the reigns and reboot the group. Not just a reboot with new leaders, a total reboot... storywise too.
The way I see it is that the Paragonian Knights are a "franchise," much like Star Trek. Even the original series came to a close, but the franchise was still in the hearts of people. What happened? Spin off after successful spin off were presented to the world.
And why were the spin-off's successful? They kept the basic concept of the show and wiped the slate clean by giving the audience something fresh and new and not something rehashed.
This is what the Paragonain Knights need. They need to let the franchise go to someone that will take the reigns and keep the name alive, but will also have the chance to make the new version better than the original. (Once again, I think people were too hurt over Grae's leaving to even bother trying to live Grae's story.)
Even though I've never been a member of the "PK" I feel that Virtue losing this franchise would be a big hit to the community. Let someone rebuild the franchise and let the name live on, even if the "original series" is no longer on the air. -
Quote:The Prime8 head is currenty in-game. It's one of the alien type heads with a few details added to it.In Studio 55, upstairs, is a monkey looking man called Prime-8. Wonder if we will get that head?
And I REALLY hope that that's a tail hanging down from the crouching shadowed character.

Yes, that mask was around when CoV was introduced... but didn't it go missing a while ago? If they are gradually re-ading missing costume pieces, then I'm all for it! *thumbsup*

Quote:True, but he had to be somewhat aware of the game seeing as he's made it to Skyway and Steel Canyon. He could be using a trial account, he could be playing someone else's game. He could be a CoH addict. No way of knowing as I'm sure he wouldn't call attention to himself away from what was seen in the film.Neat...but how do we know this wasn't all part of his jokey documentary thing?
S.
He did seem to know his way around from hitting one attack to another. Plus, he also knows about setting an auto-attack.
Whoever's account he was playing, they at least knew to turn of names, SG names, and cut half the chat window out so you couldn't see any chat more than half the SG message of the day. -
Quote:They announced it earlier than that, I thought. Archive.org archives CoH.com all the way back to 2002. I think it's mentioned in some the pre-pre-pre beta announcements. Not a case of "if". In this universe, Paragon City has been in Rhode Island since they announced the project way back in 2004.
A lot of CoH can actually be seen (kinda) all over New England. Croatoa, from I remember, was supposed to be a representation of old Salem, Massachusetts. Dark Astoria is very reminiscent of the vast cemetary plot-lands of Newport, RI. Independence Port looks pretty similar to Fall River, MA and Bristol, RI..
Then again, without any specific locations pointed out, I'm sure that most players can point out specific parts of CoH that remind them of their own area. -
Hi!
From the documentary "I'm Still Here." (thanks to War Witch for pointing it out on Twitter :P) -
Woo hoo! I ordered my tickets a few weeks ago! Can not wait!

You magically happened upon the data to edit a demorecord with the exact beast run data that no one has access to?
And don't pretend, because the directory those images are in has some pretty incriminating evidence that says otherwise. -

It's been 6 years and I STILL incorrectly click on Lower Body when trying to find Belts in the costume creator!
I dunno. When I think of Lower Body, I think waist level and under.
What do you still do, after 6 years, that you just can't seem to get right? -
The thing that baffles me is that "contests" like this keep popping up and the majority of comments are negative.
I always thought that contests were supposed to be fun and make the entire playerbase happy, yet these seem to only irritate the players.
It's been, what, two years since they've been giving away costume codes via "first come, first serve" and they haven't been able to find another method of giving these away?
To me, what would make more sense to start a thread called "Post in this thread between 12am and 12pm and you may be randomly selected to receive a costume code." Then after however many post in the 12 hours the contest is active, someone from NCsoft can pick a random number (between all of the post counts in that thread) and award the poster a code.
Contests like the current "snatch and grab" do two things:
1.) slow down the NCsoft Master Account page because so many people are trying to enter the same code at the exact same time
2.) cause frustration and anger amongst everyone that didn't win because they, physically, were not fast enough to type in a code.
Let's not even take into consideration that people that have a physical handicap are completely shut out, especially if they have an impairment that slows down their response time.
This post, btw, is not made as a complaint. Just that there is so many more ways to go about handling a contest where every person has the same exact opportunity to obtain a gift, rather than just whoever is the fastest to enter a code. I mean, ED supposedly was implemented to give everyone a fair chance, right? Maybe these contests need CD (Contest Diversification) ? -
The Protestor and Laureate Badges were not awarding to any of my Masterminds. As it seems, as someone mentioned, your pet's damage does not count for your damage, even if you score a kill via pets.
Tonight, I was able to get both badges by NOT summoning my pets and teaming with others that were able to handle me as a "petless" Mastermind.
For any MM's that are having this problem, I suggest doing what I did and teaming and going petless. -
Weather effects ARE in the game... kinda. Well, those that didn't see it in the first Incarnate mission, you'll see the lightning in the sky with moving clouds and lightning patterns. You can see the burning embers floating through the sky. You can see the water bubbling and boiling.
Sure, it's in an instanced mission, but I'm sure they could change the graphics for the burning embers to water drops or snowflakes.
I'd be all for limited weather effects during zone events or special events. Just having something thrown in to change the scenery will drastically change the way you see the game. Look at Ultra Mode. Seeing such detail and realism can give you the ability to appreciate the game, especially after seeing the same ole same ole for 6 years. But then you remember that it's just a prettier coat of paint slapped onto the same old house. (Sorry if that sounds harsh.)
Will weather effects bring in new customers? I highly doubt it. But will it make longtime players feel like the game is evolving along with their characters? You bet. And the people that are going to spend more money, year after year, are the longtimers that feel that all they invested (time & money) into this product and company are well worth it and worth the continued support. -
Yup. Then again, most of my alts aren't "super." :P
-
Mostly the same as we have now; some small differences. Honestly, I think I would have preferred the name "The Fallen Isles." But interesting enough, like Ghost Falcon mentioned, side switching was planned with CoV's release. Would have loved to have brought my villain to Paragon and be flagged (or not) for PvP. -

Now go earn some dang badges! :P -

Quote:Honestly, I think the case is more about Beef_cake not having to "correct" what he's already done, but looking for the devs to fix it on their end so he doesn't have to backtrack his own work. This kind of thing might not be important to the average player. But because people like Beef_Cake are taking the time to work on a badge tracking website which has been effectively endorsed/supported by the Devs of the game for years it's probably a bit more important to him what the game files are named and making sure there are as few "errors" like this as possible.
For me, this isn't important because is affects gameplay 0%. No matter how you look at it, you are getting awarded a badge for completing a task. The image files correctly match the TF reward. The filenames, as Beef noted, are different. Once again, that affects the gameplay 0% as you are not being cheated out of anything. As every badge has been earned and verified, in Beta, no one is missing out on anything.
And I'm FAR from being an "average player" but this is a non-issue to me, once again, because it doesn't change the gameplay in any way. And... if the gameplay is the actual thing that's important (ie. no badges if the game is broken), then I'd rather see the Devs spend time on keeping the gameplay working rather than have to backtrack their own work JUST to keep Beef_Cake happy.
And let's not forget... this wouldn't be an issue if Beef_Cake didn't make it one. No one else put any thought or cared to make this point, most likely, because it really is a non-issue. -
