As I consider Invulnerability to be a hybrid set as opposed to a pure Resistance set, I'd have to disagree. 4.5% health is nifty and all, but I'd take the 9.39% F/C Defense over it.
  2. They gain an amount of mez protection when they draw their shields, and they also have an AoE mez protection buff - when you see them yelling, it means they used it.
  3. For both heroside and villainside, what is the theoretical maximum amount of badges a single toon can earn in total?

    Boss bugs?

    [ QUOTE ]
Me and Blue Rabbit managed to get spawns of single, +2 bosses in a mission despite, as he insists, the difficulty being as low as possible.

I suspect he's a fuzzy little liar, but we weren't having any problem getting bosses!

[/ QUOTE ]It wasn't one of the Midnighter arcs, was it?
  5. Uh, yeah, that's the point. They're very powerful, but as Blasters are largely defenseless unitl APPs, it's a risk vs. reward decision to make. If you'd rather play it safe and stick to range, nobody's forcing you to use or even take these powers, but they tend to be more powerful than ranged blasts.
  6. Focus on accuracy and recharge first, and get Gaussian's Build Up proc for it. Any slots left you can use for damage.

    Purple recipes

Assuming I play my 50s regularly as opposed to fiddling around with newer alts, I find purples surprisingly regularly.

Of course, they always turn out to be the cheap ones that sell for less than half of the ones I'd want to buy, myself.
  8. Bleh, I never did get Soulbound's proc to do anything in my Punks/Arsonist despite monitoring them like a hawk for two days in a row.

So, what's the busiest US server? I need to make travel plans.

    Freedom.

    [/ QUOTE ]Except for Freedumb.

    Virtue it is then.
  10. I use Grav Em to knock mobs back into a tighter cluster if some of them walk too far from the center (before being agroed) for a maximum strength Eclipse or Mire.

Even better when there's a corner available.

Alternatively I use it against Malta spawns because I'm too lazy to look for Sappers. But, well, when you have just the one cone 100% knockback you more-or-less learn exactly where it's going to knock things when you use it, and can thus use it more efficiently.

I probably sound like a major hypocrite right now considering all the KB bashing I just did, but... Hey, at least it's not radial. And I do use it only very rarely. And I rush ahead of the team on my WS anyway so by the time they get to me the spawn is mostly dead. <_<

Human Form Peacebringers can (and, in my grumpy elitist opinion, should!) do this with Combat Flight, too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This works a lot better with a ranged KD than a PBAOE though...

[/ QUOTE ]Well, I was actually talking about the ranged blasts, considering PBs can't even use Solar Flare while flying.
  11. So, what's the busiest US server? I need to make travel plans.
  12. D'oh, I need my coffee.

Though I do the same with Dark Nova's Detonation in Nova Form anyway. >>
  13. Yeah, EMP is a PBAoE Regen debuff, Hold, and Endurance Drain to mobs, and a 15 second Recovery crash to self. The drain, which only affects mobs, can be enhanced.

The endurance -cost- is a somewhat hefty 20.8. Think you can handle that and not recovering any endurance for 15 seconds? Then go for it.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
At least with Nova form blasts you can make the knockback useful by floating above them and turning it into knockdown.

[/ QUOTE ]Human Form Peacebringers can (and, in my grumpy elitist opinion, should!) do this with Combat Flight, too.

Gale is a different argument entirely because knockback/repel is one of the reasons you'd pick Storm Summoning for. Half of the powerset is based around positional management of mobs, herdicaning them into corners before laying on the freezing rain and Galing them back in there if they slowly start creeping out of the 'cane repel; or, hovering above the battle using Gale as a ghetto knockdown. It's a ranged cone, it's not radial. I used to hate all KB with a passion, but now it's just things like Solar Flare, Hand Clap and Lightning Clap that irk me.
And some nukes. But only if it's a badly used nuke. You know the ones. Run into full-HP spawn, nuke, often even forgetting Aim/BU. Result is a scattered spawn. Sigh.

    I'm gonna go troll another thread for a while before I derail this thread, sorry. <.< >.>;

    Warshades ftw!

(As you may notice from my sig, I have... good reasons for hating scattered mobs. My main is a Brute - melee, and with a damage aura and lots of AoE. Then there's my Crab, another toon based on killing tightly-packed spawns with AoEs and cones. Thugs MM, lots of cone DoTs... Scrapper built around being a PBAoE machine... And a Warshade, half of whose powers require a tight cluster of enemies next to him to work well. Others who like different characters and playstyles might love the KB, but be considerate of people like us! )

people saying they don't want long TF's

[/ QUOTE ]These people have no right to whine anyway, so who cares? Nobody will be there forcing them to run these new long SFs, if we ever did get any.

A lot of "/unsigned" comments on new (or old) ideas are stupid for this very reason. People dislike the idea of content they wouldn't want to play, but they completely overlook the fact that the idea might be 1) completely OPTIONAL, and 2) something other people might want.

Honestly, why shoot down an idea that would not affect you -at all- if it was in the game, yet would make others happy?

Rant not directed at anyone in particular. I seem to be giving off hostile vibes with my posts these days, so just sayin'.
  16. I thought EMP only had a recovery crash for the user?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
For the Dwarf form, Its Flare is its most useful tool for gathering aggro in bigger mobs while waiting for Antagonize to cycle.

[/ QUOTE ]I never said White Dwarf Flare is bad.

200 damage will not kill an even con minion, so my point still stands that you -will- need more blastyness to kill the spawn after a Solar Flare. It'll deal about half its HP worth of damage if it has zero resistance to Energy. I suppose since you're not the only one dealing damage, if the other team members manage to throw in some AoEs before you stomp, you might just finish them off with it, depending on timing. But then there's a bunch of Lieutenants and Bosses scattered to the four winds, outside of the tank's taunt aura (which, depending on powerset, may reduce his survivability versus any ranged attacks the mobs could use - and there are almost no mobs in the game without ranged attacks). This is even worse in PUGs where you lack the subconcious combat choreography you would have with people who you team with regularly, which may result in the melee toons getting downright confused, which further slows things down. Honestly, it's not even the damage which I'm putting down, it's the radial knockback. Sure, it's fun for soloing, but on teams it's a nightmare. Why do you think nobody* takes Hand Clap or Lightning Clap? Or why nobody* slots Foot Stomp for Knockback?

I'll probably get jumped for saying this by someone who thinks otherwise, but with proper slotting, the -Defense in the attacks is negligible for the team unless you're fighting mobs with significant defense buffs, such as Nemesis soldiers or Paragon Protectors.

You say Solar Flare is "one of the better attacks"; some people, including myself, would state the opposite. In the end, this is another pro-KB versus anti-KB debate, which can never be solved. At least the ranged blasts don't do radial knockback, so they aren't as bad. And yes, KB in general is bad on a PUG.

Haven't I seen this debate in another thread, though? Ah, right here it is: Clicky

*(I'm well aware that somebody out there has done these things, but somebody out there has probably also gotten a petless Ninja/Poison Blastermind to 50, so what can you say.)
  18. Swift + Hover + Siphon Speed is pretty fun though
  19. Col_Blitzkrieger

    Sonic/?

Ah, well, usually when I say DPS I focus on AVs and the like, sturdy targets, I should've clarified that. Burst is what kills regular spawns, and on a team with good tempo it hardly matters what the secondary effect on your blast set is. One Howl is usually good enough per spawn.

I tend to view Sonic Attack as a second debuff set rather than a blast set though, heh, but that's just me.
  20. Col_Blitzkrieger

    Sonic/?

Ah, the trick with Sonic is the -Res. Calculate the DPS increase your debuffs add to your teammates, and consider it your own. Then you'll see that on large teams, Sonic Attack indirectly deals the MOST damage.

This is how I have Black Dwarf Drain slotted on my Warshade, but it should work well for Siphon Life too, in theory:

    Synthetic Hami-O Nucleolus Exposure x2
    Synthetic Hami-O Golgi Exposure x2
    Hecatomb Dam/Rech
    Doctored Wounds Heal/Rech

Gives near-ED-cap damage and heal, good accuracy and endredux, and decent recharge. Granted, I like frankenslotting, you might not want to lose the set bonuses depending on your priorities in this matter.
  22. The answer is obviously Illusion Control/Storm Summoning. With Hasten.
  23. Odd. I disagree, but this might be because I'm an old Diablo fan.
