  1. Edguy is always a good choice! I especially like songs Vain Glory Opera and Theater of Salvation, and of course Roses to No One is perfect for moody pieces. For cheering up their video Superheroes is superb!

Today while eating and hassling with zerglings I put some old lp's to play and got a dose of older Bon Jovi and a collection's worth of Deep Purple.

Consequently I finished my chapter at 2182 words telling finally the tale what happened to ND-1. I think just to celebrate the effort I'll post that to Creative.

45k cracked. 3 days to go. Just... what to write next?

YOu can do it, Coile! if I knew where you lived, I'd come make you a cup of tea to help you on your way!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks Jakey. It's not that I couldn't do it, with the same quota and just upping the needed wordcount and days. With an extra week and extra words needed I'd certainly get there.

I get sometimes ups and downs, and on downs I just get disheartened momentarily. I doubt the sanity of witing, running an SG or doing plots, even playing at all. Usually it gets over soon, and if by evening the downer isn't gone I just opt to shoot a few pixels and let the mind wander and get into rp mentality in an hour. But with writing that means a day lost. At this point I'm facing IRL situation and a realistic goal of words per day that I can produce, and it's not all that much. Pushing today's quota to the remaining days might prove to be an impossibility. Maybe. And there's no guarantees that the downer goes away even tomorrow.

I had a short talk about the story and the direction, or the lack of it, both over msn and by PMs and I'm slightly more back on track. The main story, the Timeline Prime, has stalled and its progress is dependent on IG actions. Al lother pieces are refelected on it and build towards it. Now I have 3-4 timelines running towards - what? I suddenly don't know. IG events that are taking now place are very interesting but they don't build on the main storyline, they if anything offer even more tendrils that I know I have to cover to create the whole story.

I guess it's about persisting today. Writing even if the feeling is not up there. It would be daft to quit now, this close. It's 7 pm and I have 500 words down. A thousand more and I stay in the zone. If I make it up to 2k today I'm that much closer to the target, hoping the up-draft begins at least tomorrow.

Oh, I tend to listen to some music while I write. Rock, metal, that sort of stuff. Ranging from Beach Boys to Manowar and from Jean-Michel Jarre to Moonspell. I guess I need some good tunes and see what's cooking.

    Now, zergling time.
  3. Congrats, Jakey and Stase! Well done!

I have 7k to go and motivation has dipped into a new low. The story keeps expanding and spiraling and I'm losing the thread with which to tie it all together. 4 days. 7k words. Now it's just about having a bum of steel and typing stuff and hoping it yields something worthwhile in the end.
  4. By Blackdove I assume you mean Pyranha? (Blackdove is the forum handle, Pyranha is the character.)

You have a real good touch with facial expressions. It's something that instantly catches the eye. With about your every picture. I think one word to describe your work is "energetic".

Over the months I've grown to be a fan of your art. Kudos, and keep it coming.
  5. The mysterious Harlequin Noir zaps 50! That's 4 you got there, Jester! Whoohoo!
  6. 40k cracked. Lunch break time, as soon as I make the said lunch.

Zergling activities are likely to crash down in a nasty way on today's further progress but I'll press on as much as I can.

Hold me a spot by the finish line, Stase. If you head to the bar I'll have a terva shot, thanks.
  7. My gods Weasel, you're pummeling that poor remaining wordcount into oblivion with both hands! The pace you're going at is simply put brutal!

I'll see you at the massive "I can't believe we did it!" celebration as November fades into December and have a drinks glass waiting for you.

Meanwhile I have to look the other way as the mad chipping of the remaining count is too gruesome to watch. That, and I have no slack left since I have over 10k to go still...
  8. Tonight.

    - Coile will not answer his phone.
    - He will not reply on Tempest frequency.
    - He will not respond on the Militia / Silent Tempest co-operation channel.
    - No one will answer the door.
    - The lights in the apartment will be out.
    - He will not be in base nor has he visited it today according to logs (for those who can check such things).

Oh! Almost forgot. The newest Paragon Inquirer is out today.

Some people get their own cartoon series. Some people get Fiona Sinclaire.
  9. Do you guys listen to music while you write? If yes, what music, and how does it affect your writing?

I'll answer for myself a bit later, now I need to fly.
  10. 1800 words a day for the rest of the dash and I'm there. I took last night off, sorta. Still, I'm now convinced that I'll get there.
  11. In other news:

Coile asked if Love Angel would like to join the Silent Tempest, In the end, she did.

Meeting with Azure Sting was finally arranged. She didn't want to talk about Crown much but she did promise to send the files from her and High Noon. So far the files have been delivered and Love Angel is compiling a report. It also was revealed that during her detainment Azure Sting was subjected to Ripmind's powers. Similar, just more vicious attack months earlier drove Coile to a psychosis.

Nightsparrow was found to be alive but her memories from the past six years are gone. This could be just due to the shock from the explosion or perhaps Grinning Nightmare withdrawing from her mind and 'doing stuff'. The girl now calls herself by her given name Melanie and lives with Lady Cobra. To Coile his friend Nightsparrow is dead, but Sword of Truth thinks he should befriend also Melanie. Coile is dubious about the idea, as he is about how things will work out with the original Nadia Forester when she is found.

Operations against both Crey and Malta Group continue. Crown offensive awaits more data. Guys who work with a virus that could snuff out the Earth are not to be treated lightly. When their labs will be attacked it has to be a very well planned operation.
  12. Surprise him thoroughly so that he exclaims "Well tickle me elmo and call me Bertha!", then just call him Bertha and whup his sorry backside.

If this doesn't work, come back, I might have other tips and advice.

(Hmm, a Different Capes series about "Coile's tip of the day"... Dove, got lotsa free time?)

Well it pales somewhat after that but...

    Yippee 20k!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pales my butt! You're fighting and writing and taking names 1k at a time. 20k is a grand milestone!

    Way to go, girl!
  14. I just want to say this: 35k!

    Yes, it does feel good.

Spellsong wondered if Winter Heart just didn't send away her mother by accident or impulsiveness, using the "name magic" she is starting to learn.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Some one's teaching her such magic?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just the basics, really. Nothing fancy. Tho the plethora of naming magic word books and the idle, boring weeks have sort of helped Winter on her way.

Now, what's all the fuzz of a mother being missing? People vanish inexplicably ALL the time. Maybe she went to Aruba or something...
  16. That's it. I want a Mac. Or this ported to Windows. Or does something like this exist?
  17. Go go gadget Stasis!

    For procrastination purposes: Catz!

Especially this!! I KNEW IT! *shakes fist*
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Keep it up, Morgana and Weasel. On a good roll you can chug out 5k-10k words per writing session.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
...in which case over halfway through I haven't managed a good roll yet... I think 3k is about the most I've produced in one session so far.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same with me and 'session' has to be defined quite broadly. Like, a day. My writings are in bits and pieces, mostly. 52 words so far this morning (in one hour) and I'm liking this chapter.

    [ QUOTE ]
Still, I've hit 15k today, despite deciding to log on and get half a dozen beacon badges for one of my SGs, and it's flowing a little better, so I'm not giving up!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's the spirit! You know, judging by when the stories start to flow and how long you have hung on already, I'm betting on you to complete the challenge. Even tho I haven't done this myself in three years I have a bunch of friends who do this each year (the instruction and help mail that they circulate still list coffee brewed by me as one method of stimulating the writing) and fighting spirit during week 3 is a telltale mark of someone who busts the keyboard to death as end of month draws closer just to finish.

So, keep at it. You're in the zone.
  19. Keep it up, Morgana and Weasel. On a good roll you can chug out 5k-10k words per writing session. English is a delightful language with all the excess words.

I have the next 3-4 history chapters thought out which means that writing them is just a mechanical realization of the stuff in my head. In some cases I get to invent the events as I write. Now there isn't much spontaniety.

Hmm, zerglings are falling asleep (fingers crossed) but I woke up kinda early too and ...would a nap be such a bad idea? just 2,5k behind quota...
  20. Zarquon dammit. Zergling stuff consumed most of yesterday until 11.30 pm, actually. Running almost 1,5k behind and "today isn't look good either".

Still, it's just 1,5k. Easily caught up and plenty of days to do it in.

Incidentally, my story threatens to run up to 70k-80k. The trick is to raise a glass at the end of November and just keep the writing pace until the book is done.

    Then edit.
  21. Sorry to hear about the back pain, Max. =/

Still, with 40k cracked you're the lead guy and safest bet for completing the challenge. I wish you the best, especially with the back. Gambatte kudasai, ne.
  22. Inaction (16.11.2006)

    "So easy just to say
That everything is just the way it seems"

    - Boston

Quite early Coile made his way to Pocket D to wait. Militia guy named Mer'de had promised that action would be taken and that an organized search for Nightsparrow would be conducted. Coile was certain that the search would lead to a trap and that Sparrow was dead long since but still intended to take part.

First person to happen by was Love Angel, the young heroine Coile had worked a few times with. Highly excitable, stubborn, bouncy and not afraid to express her opinions were qualities that stood out. There was still the case of Angel going all freefall and then breaking it herself a couple of weeks ago but the point was not resolved this time either. Dustine came along and Angel had to rush off to finish a history assignment.

Dustine recounted how she had tried to curse a bully girl with voodoo when the Goddess appeared to her and changed her life forever. That topic was interrupted when Searing Red, yet another teenaged girl that had come to seek her fortunes in Paragon City walked up. Coile waived at her to join the Tempest duo in their table. The talk centered around Red's past and her avoiding telling much at all.

Finally things started to roll as Keening Banshee appeared. Alas, her news were grim. Militia's main man Force Commander had run off and the rest of the team was after him, so the search was, while not cancelled, postponed. Coile almost blew a fuse but with no leads of his own nothing could be done. The gang was joined by Vigilante Storm who had some sharp observations and tough questions.

Banshee left, Dustine left, Ms. Storm left. Love Angel returned. So. Coile. Two teenagers. Tact, or lack of it. Unhealthy dose of cluelessness and inability to back down. Coile first asked Red's age, then succumbed to arguing that he could understand "girl stuff" because he "lived with a woman" and got stuck in a discussion about breast tenderness during periods. Redfaceness abounds.

The night ended a bit more gracefully than the rockbottom it had hit with Coile claiming not to compete with others by measuring his manhood. He went for a short patrol with Searing Red in Atlas Park and then headed home. The search for dead Sparrow would resume later, when the time was right.
  23. Chapter 12 done. Chapters 12-14 published. 25k broken. Scheduled quota based target of 25500 words achieved.

    Back in the game.

    Woohoo!
  24. [ QUOTE ]
(I would usually post this on the GG thread, but since it didn't happen there, I'm actually kind of stuck as to whether to post it here in the Defiant Thread - I'm sticking it here because it impacts on plots ongoing on Union)

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's cool. No need to worry too much. The link to Union scene is very apparent and thus falls within the scope of this thread.

Next time, how could someone tag along? It sounds like an interesting world, this Defiant.

EDIT: The breathing down my neck to haul butt and go get lunch derailed my train of thought.

Since there is no dedicated thread for Definant RP, what if there was one? It's been said that there's less roleplaying on Defiant and making contacts is a bit harder. If there was its own thread it would serve the whole scene.

Your post, Shadowe, is an excellent one for starting it, for example.
  25. I said this already but I really dig the Andre / Nadia pic. It displays the happy side of their lives, as it was once upon a time. I'm in fact strongly considering asking Sword if such a photo could exist and if yes, make the pic an IC photo that Andre could carry with him. It'd be a really nice memento from that period in time.

With Inago you've again gone for the hunk look which is more a mental image than a representation of the IG toon. Nothing wrong with it, mind you, just that the guy looks like twenty, not sweet sixteen.

With Subaiku you got the water WAY better than in an earlier scetch. Frankly, impressed.

With Fuchsia the attention is drawn to thecontrast between the almost plain and very scetch-like background and the more detailed character, which by the way has a great pose. Sometimes your poses can be a little stiff but, tho, not very recently. Which means you're getting better at it all the time.

    Go commercial already!
