EMP Arrow is Hold, EMP (blaster) is disorent.

Hey stop derailing my desperate question -
Happy birthday Max
May be a little delayed today due to RW (Real Wife) Commitments -
Can someone refresh my memory - is it 7:00 or 7:30 meet up?
Id suggest we have a running team fairly quickly and reorganise as people log on. -
BUt does Ms Marvellous actually have stamina?
And is she running 2 leadership toggs? -
[ QUOTE ]
If it helps, i have an Earth/TA Controller with all the Ta powers available up to 27 with no stamina and i run around fine.
I have no endred slotted as of yet and can happily fire off as many arrows as i can before the mob falls over.
Seeing as though you wont be using primaries, i see no problem in running a Stamina-less TA MM.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks that is very helpful - but Im a bit concerned about not using TA powers whilst running two leadership toggles...
And I wonder if the absence of health power might slow things down a little? -
Hey ho folks
Having changed my mind yet again about what MM I want to play, I have settled on a Robots/TA (for now)
Question from experienced MM:
Build is going to be all non-attack robot powers (6). I want to fit in assault + tactics (dont feel like a MM without them). This leaves me with 10 power slots up to lvl 38:
Option 1: All trick archer powers, no fitness pool, add in one more power (stealth or vengance). IS THIS VIABLE? Im thinking 3 end reducers in assault + tactics, 1 end reducer in most TA powers. Do i have enough stamina to see me through?
Option 2: STamina build, leaves me with 7 TA powers. Which ones are best to drop? (PvE build, Team-build)
Any help appreciated! -
It really helps to know where this build lies on the solo <----> team spectrum.
I'd agree with teleport tho. Concept reason I suppose?. Helps to know if any particular powers wanted for concept reasons. -
Looks pretty solid to me...
Might want to consider adding an extra end reducer in Chilling Embrace. Two taunts may be overkill as it is such an excellent aggro grabber "out of the box". I plop in a slow just to add to sticky enemy effect
You may get more out of 2xdef, 2xrecharge, 2xend mod from energy absorbtion, as it stops the 3xSO efficacy fall off.
Permafrost is the weakest power in ice set tbh, only really useful for its rather pitiful resistance to fire. You may wish to consider going the boxing/tough route instead. -
Yeah but large teams... large teams!!! pushes level up up up!!!
-
Again, my observation from the RV event... Id go Static Shield. TOuch of fear is a lovely lovely power but the feeling I got was that Dark/Elec worked by quick cycling low powers which means that fear isnt as great (although still good). Getting held/mezzed is just bad news for a dark/elec (as fury drains, the dark debuffs fade, and the smash/lethal resist is nothing to write home about). Also IIRC protects vs the ultimate brute fear - end drain.
Touch of Fear probably relegated to second place behind Static Shield I think, but almost certainly worth plonking straight after.
However, if you are using electric field for AoE damage (I skipped it as I was going for a more solo freindly build - its an "occassional" toon), ToF becomes even less attractive. -

Hey that useless liquefy power? mag1 knockdown isnt it... ummm.. how about using that ontop of an earthquake???
[/ QUOTE ]Stacked knockdown=knockback=bad.

Depends upon the level you are facing - +3s and its fine methinks, and at level 38 thats probably what you will be facing anyways. -

Id contemplate getting sirens song to be honest - a nice AoE low damage + sleep effect? Its like mass hypnosis but better as it does damage.
[/ QUOTE ]Argueable, since it causes damage it also causes aggro, mass confuse is aggro-free.

Fair point. Still one of the more tasty powers in sonic set tho.
Sirens' and Screech give sonic a very 'trollery flavour - and both are pretty attractive. As a storm/sonic I would say you really cant miss screech, especially if you are taking thunderclap. -
Like all comments depends what you are using toon for? solo / group? PvP/PvE?
A pretty universal comment I would make is get CE as soon as possible - certainly before icicles. It grabs aggro much better, and is a phenomenal damage mitigator. To my mind its the defining power of the ice set, probably the best one of any armor set except the soon to be nerfed granite armour (well, I can dream... -
I played a Dark/Elec brute at lvl 40 in RV. Looked pretty good although not well suited to PvP IMO.
Dark/Energy might be better in terms of acc debuf synergy with def based protection.
However: My observations:
Avoid Shadow Maul. Yes, it might be great damage but it locks you in an appallingly long animation. Brutes win by their fury bar. The first two attacks combines with the +recharge power of elec (reactions?) cycle very fast to quickly build fury and stack debuffs.. and its at least part negative energy ie poorly resisted.
The Dark heal compensates for the lack of heal in elec - especially with the auto +recharge. Combined with the end recharging of elec defence means you are a marathon build - can keep going to build up that fury!. Elec armour also gives good resistance to end draining (the bane of a brute).
In the RV event, I was ok, but when i shone was protracted battles. You keep pounding away at a tank or scrapper who rapidly gets acc debuffed stacked and your fury builds nicely.
In summary:
Pros:
Seemed more of a PvE than PvP build
Seemed better solo than team build
Well suited to rapid fury building
+End and (limited) + HP faculties = able to keep fury up
Negative energy is poorly resisted
Able to quickly stack acc debuffs on ONE target
Psionic Resistance (which is rare)
Cons:
Seemed more of a PvE than PvP build
Seemed better solo than team build
Shadow Maul is pretty counter productive for the build.
Acc debuffs and Resistance armours not ideal syndergy.
Resistance is a little sub-par except vs energy.
Works by fury bar, not "big hitters" / "burst" damage.
Anyone else have any ideas / observations let me know. Currently at lvl 8 languishing...
My biggest advice is avoid shadow maul. When you have an inherent +recharge you dont want to be locked in a hideously long animation when you can be quickly building up fury and -acc debuffs with your other attacks. -
Has anyone tried an earth / sonic? that seems an ungodly good synergy to me...
Pet has resistance defence - buffed up by sonic to i dont know what...
Pet generally melee - hey ho! disruption field ahoy!
Hey that useless liquefy power? mag1 knockdown isnt it... ummm.. how about using that ontop of an earthquake??? -
Oh, and you HAVE to get get screech in there surely? apart from being a nifty hold it will stack with thunderclap to disorientate a boss.
-
Id get assault over manuevers myself, particularly as a stormy.
02 boost is fine, but if you are needing to use it on a regular basis past level 30+ something is wrong. Storm has a bag of tricks to stop people getting hit in the first place.
If you are going the hover route with 'cane id 3 slot it with speed it becomes usable at that point.
Id contemplate getting sirens song to be honest - a nice AoE low damage + sleep effect? Its like mass hypnosis but better as it does damage. Admittedly it looses it effect with FR, but on my sonic blaster it is probably the best tool in the sonic box so to speak.
If you are getting hasten, you may wish to contemplate getting superspeed to stack with steamy mist for complete stealth, I 'spose.
All looks pretty solid otherwise. -
Id consider that forgotten off sets - sonic - myself. A bit similar to bubbling in some respects, but with some tasty -resistance debuffs, handy for team and for solo. If you ever contemplate soloing, sonic is highly useful for upping your damage.
Id avoid mind/storm myself - lightning storm, gale, freezing run all screwing up your fear/sleep effects... I gave up at lvl 22 with that combo.
Mind/Rad has got to be the most evil combination for pure lock down if you can tolerate running choking cloud. Add EMP for a spectacular "nova-hold" and things wont be moving. And you can do some pretty nifty things with telekenesis on the anchor pulling the entire crowd into a corner of debuffed madness whilst your AM keeps your end problems at bay. And irresepective of the reduction to AV end rate, rad is probably the king of AV slaying. -
Force Commander is happy to be IC leader. Probably suits his background / AT / IC persona pretty well.
Id suggest a few "Leiutenants" aswell...
(Un)fortunately im going on holiday tommorow for 1 week, and having a slap up meal with the Mrs tonight to celebrate kicking work in the proverbial jubblies, so please excuse me for two weeksbut
I see most people are in broad agreement with my suggestions about improving "flow" of the evening. Perhaps lets adhere to these principles from now on.
Very sorry to see Battleflag go - hope to see you some time in the future!
Its been great so far tbh. I noticed a bit of a "dip" last time because things seemed uncoordinated and we ended up doing a hunt. I hope we learn from those frustrations. Its all kind of new.
Good luck folks, hope to see you in two weeks time. As I said, FC is happy to be IC "leader" but perhaps need two or three IC "deputies" when Im absent.
Id suggest shuffling titles is SG a bit to reflect this. However, I would suggest the SG is diplomatic, and that there is no OOC heirachy, and all "titles" in the SG have equal permissions to reflect this. Only my suggestion of course. -
I may not be able to make tommorow due to about-to-on-holiday commitmenets
I will def be away the week after due to on-holiday commitments
May catch you tommorow otherwise see ya in 2 weeks!
May I make a few suggestions based on observations:
1. Just crack on with forming teams fairly quickly, I don't think its possible to form teams in advance. I suggest we turn up and form them in an organic process depending on who arrives / leaves at what time. Id suggest splitting available def/controllers between two teams.
2. Hunting is pretty boring for me, and I dont think many people like it. Aside from the fact that its less xp (no mission complete bonus) and twice the debt, I think missions lend themselves to rp much better. Id suggest the best thing to do is play one toons missions sequentially as that leads to more of a story.
Just my observations but I think we need to get things moving and flowing better in order to keep everyone enjoying the meet ups.
Enjoy! -
Wish i had tried this in RV event
Has anyone actually tried this tactic? or have a traps corruptor they could copy onto training to freespec try this method? -
Hmmm correct me if im wrong...
In terms of damage mitigation Def = Res x2 (using the calculations) i.e. 5% defence = 10% resistance, both effectively giving 10% damage mitigation.
Defence is superior in that it will additionally prevent mez / secondary effects (like knockback). This is a huge advantage.
Defence also increases the likelihood of interuupstable powers (like AS) not being interrupted, and for hide to reactivate (because you are not hit).
Defence is inferior in that it exposes you to the "run of bad luck" where by misfortune a series of attacks hits you and rapidly plummets your HP. This is of course more of a problem when you have a low HP character (so more of a problem for stalkers than tanks).
However, on balance I would say that defence is superior to resistance under most circumstances.
And bear in mind that even considering just damage mitigation 5% defence = 10% resistance. They are not comparable.
In PvP things are somewhat different I suppose, but judging how thoroughly hard it is to take down an Ice Tank in PvE I wouldnt dismiss defence lightly. Again, defence is better for high HP characters like tanks who can ride through the transient accuracy boost of a aim / build up I suppose. -
Concept over all unless you are a teh uber PvPer in which case Ice / Energy tanks seem to be FoTM
-
Im not sure has anyone tried this? My understanding of team teleport is that pets, team, and everything freindly gets teleported to desired location (not even a prompt). You target the location for your team to travel to, and anything next to you gets whisked along like it or not.
I dont know about trip mines (never played that far) but I think many of other traps corruptor secondaries can be targetted in any case???
So I would IMAGINE all your traps get whisked along with you to happily instantly explode simultanously around entire mob?
