My greediness is for Tactics when playing a MM... Even 3 slotting SO accuracy on level 1 minions, they will end up fighting +4 or +5 enemies... that extra boost from tactics seems to help, unless you can defence debuff somehow.
-
I would have thought Stimulant more useful at level 45 - mezzing more ouchie than damage, but I bow to your experience on that!
-
I rolled a illusion/storm (and I dislike illusion anyway). Looked kind of fun, but seemed to me to be the most difficult power combination anyone could play (not gimped, just needed a LOT of skill). Talk about knockback and pet chaos!

Empaths unappreciated? Don't think so. I usually have to tell others to stop thanking my pure empathy defender, still telling them at level 38.
In my opinion there is not enough 'Wow - great blasting....' bla bla bla
Guffette will continue to Guff out heals and buffs in defiant until it stops being fun. Not sure its gonna happen

Or great debuffing - oh, sorry that dosent create red or green numbers - must be teh gimp then -
Hey Ho Folks:
Heres one. Playing my Ice/Ice Dom and need another Single Target Attack.
Ice Blast vs Chillblain?
I despise immobilises due to ice slick, but single target isnt bad (can use it on held target), and it might come in handy vs AVs etc.
Looking at the description, it looks like Chillblain might compare favourably to Ice Blast, in terms of dps / dpe etc. (Since it is a primary not a secondary).
And Ideas? -

Stimulant and Aid Self
[/ QUOTE ]
I would take Aid Other instead of Stimulant.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? Heals are pretty useless anyway at level 30+ IMO, and particularly one I cant use effectively in combat and (with A MM rubbish HP) one which wont be very powerful. Id far rather have stimulant to protect my robots from mez attacks.
Admittedly Heal Other feels better a low levels, but Im playing this one for the long haul. -
Thanks thats very helpful.
I might go for a compramise: What do you think of:
(Up to lvl 38 build)
Primary: All bar the three "Gun" powers
Secondary (TA): All (NB At least one end reducer in each)
Hover / Fly
Assault (NB only one toggle, with 3 end reducers)
Stimulant and Aid Self
Aid Self to avoid downtime primarily.
Only concern about this build is loosing tactics might make the first teir robots a little innaccurate. I will slot for 3 x accuracy. Hoping Acid Arrow will help with this by debuffing defence? -
Just to be different... Earth / Sonic is what I would play right now if I hadnt got my grav/sonic to 30...
Earthquake + Liquefy = yummy
Sonic Disruption on Stoney pet = yummy
Sonic shields on Stoney pet = Capped resistance
Sonic Siphon and Clarity nice secondaries.
If you can bear it, Sonic Detention field will all a significant control for you.
Most importantly, you will be different! -

TBH I cant think of a worse power anywhere in CoX. Jump Kick, Group Teleport, Group Fly about the only ones I could come up with. I suppose Temparature Protection from Fire Armour tank set is just as pants.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd say Temperature Protection is worse as the damage type it helps you against ( cold ) is less commmon and it doesn't have the slow protection.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fair Point, although I suppose hypothetically it allows you to cap your fire resistance without running all toggles (and fire is a very common damage type)
On balance, tho, Yep, Temp Prot is the absolute worst. -
Miss miss miss.
Even in PvE, fire damage is pretty rare (because its AoE orientated). I suppose some fire brutes with hard hitting melee fire would be a problem, but hey, its just a plain rubbish power.

Personal Entry:
I thought I might witness the Decibel Delights of that Audial Aphrodite, Amber Banshee.
What a fine voice. Wheras most of the audience, no doubt, were impressed by the mere sonic serenity of the performance, I found it sublime. The interplay between the energetics of mind and molecule... A serenity washed over me.
The normal overpowering nausea I have from my blurred senses, constantly aware of every shift of atom and energy, was calmed. I can only descibe what a witness as a harmonic hedonism, of senses and modality more than most humans could ever perceive.
I had forgotten that can of peace could ever exist.
Signing Off,

((Good to have new blood and you are very welcome: THis thread is for Stories / In character tells... post on the "In Character Team Meet Up" Thread for Out of Character / Organisational issues!...
We are currently most in need of tanks/defenders/controllers in that order but please play whatever character you want. We meet Thurdsays 7-whenever every week and often less formally at other times. A good start will be to post your characters origins / background on this thread. Also, if you give your characters name, we can try and invite him to SG!)) -
WHat about leadership toggles + TA without stamina. Thats my real cunudrum...
-
Im not sure there is a whole stack in it... Personally Im getting both...
FOr me, the choice about medicine pool is usuallly concept. Many toons simply wouldnt carry round a tricorder... -
I think the whole nature of dominator has always been "Binary AT". It doesnt solo particularly well (probably the worst solo of CoX), and I usually dont hear teams crying out for a dominator...
However, Hit that domination button and you outshine everything...
Hopefully as CoV players get more experienced they will be more regarded for teams. Although they dont significantly help with the ploughing through minions part of the mission, if they save up the D button for the boss at the end things run incredible smoothly when fighting a perma-held boss (or EB)...
What I havent had experience yet is of how doms (even with dom) do against AVs... do they actually pull their weight? -

Since theres no real heirachy in the group, could we maybe use the ranking system for say.. status ID?
I mean Leader could be 'Moderators'
Commander and Captain ranks for 'Active' or main RP chars.
Lietenant rank for the 'Reserve' chars and other alts.
and Member rank to identify those who are 'Away' like Diamondskin and soon, 'Dragonfly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Id braodly agree with this.. but whats a moderator?
I would say...
Founder (Leave as is, a reference of honour to our creators!)
Leader (Old guard, organiser type)
Captain (Deputies to Leaders)
Member (Most of us)
Reservist (Non-active characters) -
Healers? Pffft!
Seriously, although healers appear fantastic at levels 1-20, at levels 30+ (i.e. expereinced teams) they are pretty low down the list... Tanks are first priority, and then you are looking at good buffers/debuffers like TA, Kinetics, Rad, Dark etc... Most empaths I know at level 30+ are mainly valuable for their buffs like clear mind and fortitude, not their heals!
Anyway thats bye the bye... We should all play the characters and the concepts we wantId just point out that we dont "need" a healer
As to rolling a scrapper, that fine, but clearly some scrapper sets (like all sets) are more team orientated than others - The more AoE powers a set has the more valuable to a large team. Hence, spines is great in big teams (lot sof AoE), martial arts is a single target god (only one AoE). Again, we should all play the toons we want but just something to think about.
FUN FTW!!! -
Oh, sorry an extra thought
Scrappers have always been the most solo-freindly AT, and thus are a little underpowered in groups (well, fairs fair!). I would point out that as the Militia is a team based organisation, it really is the perfect oppurtunity to play team based characters, particularly ones that are viewed a "gimped" like Trick Archery - And for the reference I think Trick Archery is great (better than empathy by far) in big teams...
Anyway, just a point I tought I aught to bring up - Its a TEAM, and the chance to play very team orientated toons. Force Commander cant solo for toffee for instance, but he's extremely valuable to the militia (If i say so myself -
Hi Guys...
We certainly desperately need tanks, and I would suggest an extra few controllers/defenders...
I have no slots left on Union, but If all else failed, I could have Cryotherapy, my lvl 25 Tank / Psychiatrist fill in the gaps (Hey, he could even be treating Force Commander)!
As far as new toons, My feeling is that character concept should be the prime concern. However, I would strongly advise any one to seriously consider if they could make the concept a tank instead of a scrapper or a defender instead of a blaster if possible, otherwise the groups will be hard work...
Im not saying DONT roll a scrapper or blaster, just think twice. As Dragonfly has said - the personality of rush in heedless (like DFly) actually suits a tank better. A superstrength/invun tank-brawler instead of a martialart/reflexes scrapper for instance.
Similraly if thinking about a tech blaster, consider a radation/electric defender for instance.
Again, play what you want, but I do forsee the lack of tanks (and to a lesser degree controllers or defenders) being a significant problem. FC had a devil of a job yesterday in a team of 8 with one defender, one controller and no tank -
[Classified Medical Report from Geneva European Mutagenics Agency]
Subject: Codename "Force Commander"
General Physical: Good fitness and general level of ability, although well within normal range. His particular sensitivy and manipulation of bio-energetic forces of course allows him to manipulate his mass, velocity, and ambient kinetic energy which he can use to augment his own prowess.
Sensory Testing: Most interesting. Although his physical organs are working well, it appears he has great difficulty processing neural signals from the six sensory modalities. He reports being able to sense in many different ways - he can report the flow and ebb of kinetic properties of anything around him and sense quantum fluctuations of energies. I wonder if this massive influx of information is to much for a man to take, even for one of his intellectual calibre... How does he cope?
Biochemical: Normal. Raised Gamma GT liver function tests. ? Excessive Alcohol intake?
Psychological: I have concerns about stress due to excessive perceptual overload, despite his flippant and dismissive manner... Is he abusing alcohol to deaden his remarkable sensory plethora?
Recommendation: Continues to grow in ability to manipulate and sense information. I am not entirely sure this is a good thing. Mental health must be under stress. ? Use of dopamine stabiliser atypical antipsychotic medication in the future to modulate sensory overload - I will book radio-istope PET scan next time with neuropsychological testing.
Remains Fit for duty

Thanks all for great session... Really great stuff and dynamics developing, especially between some of the 'old guard
Two observations / suggestions:
Levels are getting a bit diverse (shifty glare at Angel)... can we set a level limit of 17 and let people catch up?
We are a very scrapper heavy SG - we have only one tank, and few defenders / tanks (ironic as when the militia started there were concerns about it being damage-light). It might be worth looking into this and recruiting - particularly a tank (Unit 29's addition made playing much easier!)
Sterling stuff! I love playing FC!
