  1. I suspect that AE was something that the devs saw as being the ultimate utility in the game for players to explore their creative talents.

Unfortunately the reality was/is that AE is a power leveler's paradise - and still is.

AE was a massive mistake and I rank it as one of a handful of nails in the coffin of this game.
  2. To the OP.

I have sent my emails and petitions as I was urged to do so, but I'm being realistic here.

I don't expect any reprieve for my game.

Because of that I am taking steps to exit the game with my head held high - and that of my characters if I was being honest.

I sincerely hope that the IP is bought over, but I will carry on as if 30th November - or earlier is the end of days for the CoX Universe.
  3. IMHO MA was a mistake on a massive level and shouldn't have been introduced to our game.

I said as such at the time it was introduced, and nothing I've seen has made me change my mind.
  4. I was going to take a look at GW2, but in the light of what happened to CoH there's no chance that I'll be giving NCsoft any more of my cash - regardless of how good the game is.

I hope others feel the same way.....
  5. As the thread title says, please change the forum background page.

If this game is going to end shortly, surely it would only be right that we have established and iconic characters in the background page.

I have zero affinity with either of the NPC's currently occupying that space, and I guess that may the same for many others.

Let's see a return to more suitably iconic characters, such as Statesman, BaB, Synapse etc
  6. I think that The Secret World may be an avenue for me to go to.

It has all the aspects of world mysteries that I enjoy in books and movies, so I could be happy there I suppose.

I've emailed them for a trial period. If they give one out, I'll probably buy the game and subscribe.

Still hoping that this game can be saved though ...........

    edit ....

I'm also going to look at F2P versions of STO and AoC ......

I'm not saying that I like CO or even that people should play it, but ..... you can turn off the black outlining in the graphics options.

It makes the game look a million times better.
  8. No response from NC is good news, but I think the problem that we all face is their unwillingness to pass on IP rights to games that they cancel.

I just hope that this game has a larger following than games that NC have canceled in the past......

Alter Bridge - Watch Over You

    Leaves are on the ground
    Fall has come
    Blue skies turning grey
    Like my love

    I tried to carry you
    And make you whole
    But it was never enough
    I must go

    [Chorus:]
    Who is gonna save you
    When I'm gone?
    And who'll watch over you
    When I'm gone?

You say you care for me
    But hide it well
    How can you love someone
    And not yourself?

    [Chorus]

    And when I'm gone
    Who will break your fall?
    Who will you blame?

    I can't go on
And let you lose it all
It's more than I can take
    Who'll ease your pain?
    Ease your pain

    [Chorus:]
Who is gonna save you when I'm gone?
    Who'll watch over you?
Who will give you strength when you're not strong.
Who'll watch over you when I've gone away?

    Snow is on the ground
    Winters come
You long to hear my voice
    But I'm long gone
  11. I'm downloading the the client patch for CO right now.

It seems I can still access my Cryptic account using my Cobra Man name that I used in beta testing.
  12. I wish that the devs hadn't killed Statesman.

I can't help but feel that his demise and the impending destruction of Paragon City are connected in some way.
  13. In case I forget to do so, here are some of the very limited pieces of CoX merchandise that we can buy.

    http://us.merchstore.ncsoft.com/uk/c..._blue_mens.php

    http://us.merchstore.ncsoft.com/uk/p..._poster_a1.php

Yup. A t-shirt .... 'finished in a striking blue with Statesman’s insignia star emblazoned across the chest.' (quote from the website), and a poster featuring .... Statesman.

I was going to post links to the official Positron, Synapse, Miss Liberty, Citadel etc t-shirts and posters, but I can't seem to find any right now.

Back in the day MJ's arc used to be the pinnacle of the game. Along with my SG we regularly played for hours every night - with the aim of getting characters up to 50 whilst doing that very arc.

So .. yes, I've ran the MJ arc on numerous occasions - many more times than you have I'll wager.

The point about Statesman not appearing in the game is pretty redundant. None of the sig NPC's do - and they were never intended to.

The game is all about the player - us essentially.

Statesman and the other signature NPC's are there to reinforce the feeling of belonging in a world of superheroes.

    Game immersion basically.

Statesman was very much at the focal point of that game immersion, and it worked rather well.

Take away that focal point (for whatever reason) and you lose the focus of the entire game - however subtle that loss may be.

It may be just me but the loss of Statesman is something that I find doesn't benefit the game in any way.

I'm not so sure about that.

I think we'll find that a lot of 'sense' and basics facts have ended up on the (virtual) cutting room floor.

Perhaps the inevitable Director's Cut DVD's will shed some light on what went wrong with the movie.

Until then I give it 5/10 - Great visuals, great acting from Fassbender but all let down by the rest of the movie being riddled with inconsistencies and plot discrepancies.

There was me thinking that he was in Maria Jenkin's arc as well ... and also in Fort Trident - not to mention being the poster boy for the entire friggin' game.

    I must be getting forgetful.....
  17. The whole 'remove Statesman from the game' is pretty crap IMHO - and now it's starting to make no sense in the game itself as well.

I haven't played the game for weeks now. The Statesman debacle just killed off (pun intended) my appetite for the game now.

I log in from time to time, but it's like walking into a house you used to live in - and now belongs to someone else.

I think I'm almost done with the game .....

Given the devs childish attitude towards Statesman/Jack, I think there's more chance of it snowing in Hell than there is of a statue of Statesman being placed in a prominent position.

It may well be but with Statesman's removal, it's not something we can expect to see again is it?

What I'm trying to say is that used properly the Statesman character would have been awesome for the game and it was the stupid, prolonged association with Jack that prevented the devs from making proper use of it - to our detriment basically.

Something like that would make me like him. However the 7/8 years he was in the game? He did nothing that made me think i could like him.
The influx of Incarnate powered players and how Statesman adapted to them would have been the ideal time to develop the character.

The scope that was available to the devs with just that one scenario would have been massive.

I know I'm in the minority here but I don't automatically link Statesman with Jack. I just saw another character, albeit the games primary NPC. The devs should have made good use of the character after Jack left.

It's ironic that when they did eventually do something with him that was pretty good, they ended up killing him off and made the surviving main NPC's look like a bunch of clueless idiots.

I still can't see what the game gained by killing him off. I understand that some people still identify him with Jack but I'm talking about what the game as a whole gained from his removal.

A cheezy, one-dimensional character isn't worth whatever negative publicity a lawsuit would have generated.
That's pretty thin as a reason for removing the character.

Jack probably created several character/groups that still exist in this game prior to working on it.

    S.
English police boxes were blue. It was Glasgow post boxes that were red - up until the 1960's.

After that they were painted blue.

We have always been the star of this game and it has gone through several major changes.

Statesman was simply the iconic hero of the game. In many ways the game was built around him - the foundations of the game if you like.

He was an easy target to kill off because of his connection to Jack but therein lies the mistake that has been made.

The devs have removed States because he was Jack's character. Let's all be honest here. There was no other reason. What they should have done is to develop the character when Jack left and made it entirely their own.

There was plenty of scope to develop Statesman. DC have been doing it with a similar type character for decades and they're still going strong with it.

IMHO killing off Statesman is harmful to this game.

When you start stripping away things that made this game what it still is today, you run the risk of irreversibly changing a winning formula.

So ... again .... Who gains from killing off Statesman?

    Us?

    I don't think so.......
