My utmost apologies to her then
I used to spend waaaaay too much time ingame to get to know forum people. -
Bye Zortel.
Why do I get the feeling that he is the first of many?
My subs run out on May 9th ..... -

Yes, well there's soon as we know it and 'soon' as used by the devs here.
They appear to be rather different -

The much needed graphical overhaul is not in sight.

"We've heard rumors of a graphical update running around for years. Are there any plans to update the graphics in future issues?
We've hired some "Type-R" programmers (inside joke) to investigate and deliver this very thing. Stay tuned for details."

so there definetly working on it

Yeah, I saw that as well.
I still think that falls under the 'soon' category though. -

And back to the opening post - we should start taking bets on who the new TF contacts will be, and which zone they'll be in
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll take a wild guess that some of it will take place in Striga and Boomtown. -
I would be one of the 'moaners' I suppose.
I would point out that this is a forum though, and whilst it may come as a shock they are open to players of all opinions.
I have been critical (moaning if you like) about the recent handling of this game because I love it so much - not because I don't like it
Too suggest that I should simply be quiet about what I see as glaring flaws in the development of the game is laughable.
I mean do you think that I'm being negative?
Currently the game is like this:
The ongoing storyline development of CoX has been sidelined, in favour of game features like MA and Inventions.'The Coming Storm' is nowhere to be seen.
PvP has been decimated by a heavy handed approach.
It appears that the Devs are not going to introduce new arcs - just TF's.
The zones that really need a refit, such as DA and Boomtown are staying as they are.
The much needed graphical overhaul is not in sight.
We have the imminent arrival of CO (and later DCUO), which like it or not is going to draw a number of current players to it from here.
These are legitimate concerns of mine - and others here. It's not just on the forums either. If you listen to players out in the game, you'll hear similar concerns.
The day I stop caring about this game and letting my thoughts be known on these matters is the day I will quit - and not before. -

I'm pretty sure the MA is open to level 1s
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm damned sure it is, but doesn't cover my need........ has it inspired you to make a new character then?
[/ QUOTE ]
No - but I'm sure there are some good arcs in MA for lower levels

There probably is but finding them is the problem..... -

Well I just thought that something as important as a new issue could have at least made its way to the EU main pages as well. Instead it takes a player on the forums here to let me know about it.
It's shoddy and it's lazy IMHO.
But ... in answer to your question ... No I didn't -

umm why does everyone hate farming?
i mean i won't be doin it as soon as i've got my first lvl 50 but it's useful
[/ QUOTE ]
I have nothing against farming, as long as they were doing their own thing in Peregrine Island but right now Atlas has become the place for people to farm.
I popped into the AE building in Atlas tonight and there were around 25 people in there. The broadcasts were fast and frequent with people asking to go on farm teams and people offering places on a farm team.
I just felt kind of sad that it had come to this. It really didn't feel like the game I've been playing for years at all.
-
I still say that to make PvP viable again this needs to happen:
1. Roll back PvP to i12.
2. Disable IO sets to that effectiveness of lev 53 SO's, whilst in a PvP zone.
This, with the availabilty of dual builds would make PvP open to all and a viable proposition for balanced PvP gameplay where player skills dictate the outcome - not the amount spent on IO's.
IO's were always going to unblance pVp and prior to the existence of IO's we didn't have dual builds.
This caused the the issue of many PvE builds being unsuited to the task of operating in the predominately single target environment of PvP.
Yes ... Those that have worked hard to build their IO tricked out PvP toons - like me - will be hacked off. This solution is viable though, and with a few adjustments it would work.
Personally I'd also like to disable TP Foe in PvP zones, to make straight head to head combat better, but as I said that's just a personal preference. -
Nice pie.
I've been doing a lot more RL stuff since i14 as well.
It feels weird and the sun burns my skin when I'm outside -
[ QUOTE ]
So why not take the best of both worlds??
Here is my suggestion for PvP
1) Roll back the Majority of PvP to i12 ( including DR and TP Foe phase supression)
2) Keep Toggle not dropping change
3) Add i13 Elusivity ONLY to the non ideal PvP type toons to blance it out, Corruptors / Defenders / Controllers
4) Add i14 Elusivity to ONLY medium ideal PvP sets to balance it out, Stalkers / Scrappers / Dominators / Masterminds / Blasters
5) Remove Elusivity to Brutes and Tanks.
6) Keep new Hold Res instead of Prot system
7) Keep IO's available to all PvP toons.
8) Create PvP Goals and games, (eg)
- Capture the Flag (While u have the flag travel powers are inactive)
- Storm enemy base (Something in map disables the oppositions drones
More to come, but what you think???????
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem that I can see is IO's. What the devs want is to make PvP an attarctive proposition to every player - possibly every character - IMHO.
Not every player is going to have a character that is decked out with normal and purple IO's, never mind several characters.
The problem is where does that leave PvP'ers who have taken the time and inf to get these IO's?
Is there actually a solution to the issue of PvP, that will suit everyone?
By everyone, I'm talking about those players who would actually PvP - not the players who never will. -

Lots. But how it ties in hasn't been offcially reveiled yet. It's not that hard to work out though.

[ QUOTE ]
If you want to really feel like a blaster, bringing down the pain and taking some serious beatings. Go Fire/Fire. You can dish out a huge amount of damage, although you will take some serious damage to. As for scrappers try something with regeneration as a secondary, to me, they are the easiest to play and can solo or team very well.
One other thing I will mention is get in a good supergroup, a nice active one with people to team with. Teaming with the same group of people lets you get to know what they are like and how they play. Which makes taking down enemies quicker and missions become easier and you can ramp up the difficulty and that's when you realise that the 20s are long gone and here comes the 40s.
It took me over a year to hit 50 on my first character, and it wasn't the character I started playing with first. One of the great things about all those slots is that you can build loads of characters and see what you like.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to agree with this. A Fire/Fire Blaster is a lot of fun to play and with the sheer amount of damage it brings, it's very team friendly - especially on large mobs.
Out of all the characters that I have my Fire/Fire Blaster has been my main 'go to' character for a couple of years now. -
[ QUOTE ]
lol Elec + high ST damage in same sentence. Elec is the most controllery primary imo, and it lacks the Blazesque power that makes a real ST bashing blast primary. Look for the massive ||> in the icon and you have yourself a winner
[/ QUOTE ]
I wrote this:
[ QUOTE ]
Blapping is also a good way to go. Try taking /EM as a secondary, perhaps with Sonic or Elec as a primary. You can get close up and involved in the melee when you feel like it and deal very high single target damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I see the confusion here. I'm talking about Energy Manipulation as a secondary (/EM).
I have Elec/Elec and Energy/Energy amongst other level 50 Blasters, so I do agree with you to a point. I do find Ice/Ice to be the most effective as a controlling type Blaster though.
That could just be down to playstyle however .. YMMV.

I noticed a piece in MMOZine about City of Heroes and its Fifth anniversary.
Good advertising you may say, but what do we get about the future?
Something like "We have tons of stuff planned for the future but we cant tell you anything."
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt but I cant tell you what is on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
but theres loads of cool stuff, honest!
[/ QUOTE ]
But we still can't tell you anything -
What will it take?
How about disabling all IO's and Hami enhancements when you are in a PvP zone and reducing them to the power of level 53 SO enhancements?
We have dual builds now, which was something that was repeatedly asked for, to allow every player to have a build suited for both PvE and PvP.
Doing this would make it a level playing field, with the PvP skills of the player being the key to victory - not how many IO's that they have slotted.
Then roll back the PvP to pre i12 and go for it.
If this happened it would certainly annoy players who specialise in PvP, as they undoubtedly have forked out millions for IO's.
Perhaps there would be a way to compensate these players?
Anyway .. That's my suggestion.

My Blaster is a Ice/Ice named Mr.Frosty :P But, im going to give villians ago and see what its like, ty all for your help! (Also people keep posting!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Ice/Ice is a combo that I find more of a mix of Blaster and Controller. It isn't a combination that I would recommend for a novice player.
Try another Blaster combo like Fire/Fire or Elec/Elec, for massive damage. You will attract the mobs attention though, so be warned
Blapping is also a good way to go. Try taking /EM as a secondary, perhaps with Sonic or Elec as a primary. You can get close up and involved in the melee when you feel like it and deal very high single target damage.
The Blaster combinations all have their own (different) strengths. Experiment and find one that suits you. -

Union Atlas is a mess as well. Horrible (even moreso than usual).
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. I moved out of Atlas. When i last logged on there i noted that within 30 seconds of loggin in the first four broadcasts were all requests for farming teams...
I feel it's a shame that new players to the game are going to see this all over broadcast now. It might put some people off? Are new players getting dragged into MA teams from day one now and missing all the other content? I hope that's not the case, but it's worrying.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's one of my concerns about MA as well.
What it's doing, or has already done, is to basically change this game from what was a plot/story based one to a game which is all about XP first - story second.
New starts can't help but notice the spamming for MA farming teams, both for players looking to get on one and farmers looking for bodies to up the mob numbers.
This simply should not be happening in a low level zone like Atlas.
I wonder if the devs even realise that they are causing horrendous damage to the game, every day that MA continues to exist .....
It's such a bloody shame, but this game is being ruined.
