Quote:I agree with you. My last two builds I started slotting IO Sets really early but I spent a great deal of inf on them and used up most of my inf. I'm now back to trying to replenish my funds but it's slow going since I prefer to spend my time ingame playing rather than using the market or farming tickets.Besides, it's a lot of fun to work on builds as you go rather than all at once (I do and have done both, and find both approaches have their pluses and minuses); there's something to be said for experiencing each upgrade in a budding build rather than or in conjunction with a carefully-crafted mids build. I've got a defender in the "garage" awaiting full IO set upgrades, and I've got a blaster that I'm playing through her build. I'm having more fun with the blaster
I'm really worried about my Dominator. I'm going to push it to 50 but I just know, on common IOs only, he's going to be faceplanting a lot. Guess I'll have to start paying attention more. -

Hi.
I'm a player that has to max out their level 50s with heavy IOed builds. I'm up to #8 or 9 now since I tend to work on multiple alts at once. My ingame time is starting to decrease which means I'm finding less time to spend outfitting these characters. Now, being a min/max person it's very hard for to think about playing a 50 with just common IOs but I wanted to get some feedback from the community about doing just that.
Are level 50 characters without Set IO-ed builds still viable in the late game? Will I still be able to perform in the trials, high end TFs, etc without having to resort to buying large amounts of wakies?
Right now, if I know I can't outfit a character with the IOs I want then I tend to just shelve the character, prior to level 50, and let them collect dust until I'm ready or have the inf to start again.
I almost feel like a drug addict trying to quit but needs some support, lol.
tl;dr version: If I just slot Common IOs, then will my characters still be viable in the late game or will I be the weak link on many occasions? I take pride in my gameplay. -

I'm just not getting a 'Superman' vibe from that costume. Perhaps it's because I grew up with the Christopher Reeves films. I dislike the dark tones, ya, I think that's my main issue.

Quote:That's pointless to me. I HATE being a lowbie and would rather not play. Do you understand?Which you cannot do if the server is down anyway, so why not play something? A level 1 character stays a level 1 character for what, all of 2 minutes?
Quote:Server beign down for an hour, you'd probably be in the early teens. Still down? Run a posi. Mid teens. Look, progress. And you're doing what you (i assume) want to do - play the game.
Please understand not everyone wants to play the way you asking me to.
Quote:And you can email yourself resources 8when the servers are back up* if you are worried about lack of INF, etc.
Then when your main server is back up -you can switch back over.
I don't see what's so abhorrent about the concept of *being able to play the game you want to play if your main server is down.*
Really? Do you just hit reply and not think about what you're posting? I very much understand what Bill is saying to me, but I don't agree and consider it an acceptable alternative.
You guys are all meanie poo-poo heads. <emo> -
'Not having access' was in regards to the additional downtime some servers, like Freedom, experience after the extended maintenance. The very very extended maintenance.

Quote:I don't want to play a level 1 character. I have many 50s, I would like to continue outfitting them with IOs.Alt on other server: You playing now.
No alt on other server: YOu not playing now.
As for "No resources?" You can email yourself stuff. Doesn't mean you have to jump ship and play only that new alt. It's an *option.*
I cannot email myself resources if the server is down. If the server is not down, then emailing resources to another alt is pointless. -

Quote:Why is it difficult to understand the using another server is a problem in and of itself? I've used Freedom for many many years now and not being able to play there is akin to not being able to play at all in my eyes. What "abandon"?
You have an alt on another server in case you wanna go back there again.
This is my want, my selffish want. I pay for this game and would like to access my characters when others have that same ability. Why is this so bad? -
Playing the game takes a lot more concentration than responding to snarky posts. I get 1-2 nights to myself and today was one of those. So, I get to spend it replying to many posts trying to help others understand why the server downtime can be a very bad thing for some of us.
Additionally, one of my jobs gives me the ability to use a computer most of the day which makes browsing and posting on the forums pretty accessible. Posting of the forums and playing an MMO are not one in the same. One of those activities requires far more concentration and time to do properly. -
Quote:Because it rarely happens and my play time is limited. I seriously play 7 -10 hours a week. If that. I have 20+ alts on Freedom that I want to play. Not to mention I have no resources on other servers. Why should I HAVE to start alts on other servers? Seems like an excuse. What really keeps you from branching out JUST for stuff like that? Especially now when inf, items, etc. can be emailed to yourself?
Get your friends, form a branch SG somewhere, screw around with it once in a while - then if something happens on Freedom, you have somewhere to fall back to. Start a superteam.
Give yourself options.
Isn't it strange that you seem incapable of seeing someone else's point of view? -
Quote:Terrible suggestion. I play only a handful of characters due to my limited game time./this.
Seriously, an alt elsewhere won't kill you. It'll give you something to do when, oh, your main server is having issues. Bring friends. Start a superteam or theme team.
I'm sure you won't understand. -

Instead, the devs will increase the load on other servers by spawning various events. That would be cool and all if I had characters on other servers. I've been on one server since I started this game and it's frustrating to not be able to play my characters.
-
Can you all fix something please? Freedom is down, up, down, up, down and when I come to the boards I get logged out twice in a few minutes.
I don't want to start avoiding this game.
Please do a better job. -
Freedom is down again. Fantastic work.
-
Freedom is up again, but now you get mapserved every couple minutes. Sweet.

Quote:Careful. You should know that you aren't allowed to post complaints about this game even when they are valid complaints.Infinity isn't ready to be online, might as well take it back off, it's unplayable.
Look, I'm all for giving a break for unexpected things going wrong, but it's getting out of hand. The product I'm seeing right now is sloppy and devoid of quality or a "customer comes first" perspective. And no, " a giant war walker stomping around the City Hall parking lot in Atlas Park..." (message that just popped up from Beastyle) isn't going to make up for it. -

I logged in, got a Moonfire and DCed in the first mission. Now, I can't log into Freedom.
Fantastic work. Really awesome.
