For my characters that are completed IOed, they will use their merits to obtain IOs for my other heroes/villains. Or they will use their merits to obtain IOs and then place them on the market for profit or to obtain something else entirely.
They won't be sitting on them...how silly. You are a doomsayer, nothing more.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nothing new in seeing that people don't know how to manage resources to their own advantage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you speaking to me? -
[ QUOTE ]
Sitting on them is smarter because the devs have announced that they intend to 'adjust' merit rewards in the future based on new datamining of average TF times. In short, nerf TF rewards in the future.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't really care what adjustments they make to the Merits. I plan to play the same as always. I'm not here to nickle and dime the market/merits for the easiest reward for the least amount of work.
I play for the fun of being a super villain or super hero. Somewhere, somehow...this simple principle has become skewed or even forgotten in this quest for the uber IOs. -
[ QUOTE ]
Actually TheWeaver, it gets worse.
Players who don't need anything for the moment - like, I have 4 characters with fully loaded builds who will never need another IO unless the game changes and I need/want to respec them - can just sit on their merits and not produce anything for the market.
In fact, it's smarter for me to hoard merits than it is to exchange merits for things to sell on the market. The 5-10 TFs I normally run per week are going create merits that will stay in my pocket after I13, instead of 5-10 random recipes that I post for sale because I don't need them.

QR in regards to the market
I run TFs once, maybe twice a week since i9 has been live. I think 90% of my recipes received and sold on the market come from Pool A and Pool B drops. Rarely do I get a recipe from a TF that is worth my time to use and I end up placing on the market.
My point is, I see all recipes dwindling in supply some but it won't matter to the majority of the player base since they can now CHOOSE their reward rather then place another worthless recipe/IO (worthless to them) on the market.
Even though it's against Economics 101, I don't see prices "sky rocketing" even with Supply decreasing.
And to be honest, if it does then I'll just use my merits to obtain the Recipes/IOs I need from Pool C/D and continue to sell my Pool A/Bs. No DOOOOOOM. Just adaptation. -

Lighthouse, in all honesty, a Tier 1 Inspiration is not really a worthwhile reward.
The Tier 3 thing might have been an issue if the Trick/Treat ratio wasn't seriously screwed. When one can go double digits on Tricks before receiving a Treat, and then being awarded a Tier 1 insp...well...it's not really a "prize".
[/ QUOTE ]
Stop being ungrateful. It could have been another trick or a rock.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, you mean like the 20 prior Tricks for that one Treat.
It's amazing how many people trot out the "stop being ungrateful" line when someone voices a valid complaint. A Tier 1 inspiration that can be bought in any store for pennies is not a valid reward for ToT'ing.
Rocks I don't mind, other than them being called a Treat. They are good for throwing at Hami and for lolz factor in PvP.
Edit - Never said I didn't like the event. Really like the zombie apocs. It's just that the ToT'ing part is kinda broken.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are whining that you can't get your Tier 3 inspirations. I call that being ungrateful since you still receive adequate rewards.
If you were complaining about the Spirits or bugged invasions then I wouldn't have responded. -

That's too bad about the Spirit issue. Is it ironic that the first hero I used for this event obtained that badge first?
It actually took a couple hours to get the dang vampire badge. -

Interesting changes to say the least. These changes will take sometime to get use to for current PvPers and I think it's a good thing that everyone starts from a somewhat even playing field. -
Niiiiiiice.
EDIT: Except the recharge on Barrage. Going to have to test that in beta. -

I suggest that the use of this power be coded to preclude the use of Vengence.
Self Destruct = Reliable, Instant Vengeance Bait
And that will be exploited.
[/ QUOTE ]
How is it exploitable? I can already commit suicide ingame by pissing off a mob and let them open a can on me. Ever been on a RSF.That is just one tactic used. >_>

Hooray, I13 Info!

Hooray, Self-Destruct POWA! -

I would have bought the Mini-Booster if it was a temporary power that lasted for 2 hrs. of in-game use instead of going *poof* after 30 days. Without pulling any punches, it's just retarded to rent a power for a month when free ones that do the same are available.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some people have exhausted their two hour in-game time on their Raptor pack yaknow. You seem be to taking this a bit personal. -

Why are they called "Boosters"?
The "Booster" name is what we are referring to all the optional addons for the game going forward.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then my hypothosis is correct! Muahahahahahaha! -

Are they called Boosters since they "boost" NcSoft's revenue?
Not a serious question by the way. -
QR
I think the addition of the feature is nice but since players have the ability to obtain the respec in-game, I find $10 a bit excessive.
$5-7 is more reasonable IMO. I would rather use my "play" money then my hard ear...well, I am at work writing this post...so not really "hard earned" just earned money. -
Absolutely stunning work. <starts a slow clap>
>_> -
You apparently missed Castle's and Ex's posts, but they are working on bases. Try and keep up ok?

I must say, it is just as frustrating to us PVPers (and I lead a HUGE group or PVE and PVP players, so I understand both sides here) to listen you the non-PVP players insist it isn't as bad as we thought and to calm down. For all the immature whining and complaining done in these forums, over the past couple years, it has been significantly balanced between PVE and PVP players alike, so I would first suggest to hold those stones, not throw them.
Second, it IS as bad as we are making it out on the PVP side of the fence, especially for villains. And let me see if I can explain it so you don't jump all over me for just making an opinion and not-backing it up. Corruptors are not easy to take down, but manageable. MMs on the other hand, are almost impossible to kill in the hand of a good player and in a great player...forget about it. Adding /Storm in the MM sets completely kills VvV action, period. Three /Storm MMs on a vill team = 0 kills for either side in an entire match. Stalkers are not viable anymore for burst damage and vills can't spike other vills without stalker damage due to the heavy buffs we have. So, this will result in nothing but storm teams running against storm teams and zero kills. Sounds like fun huh? This is the end of the villain ladder on test and massive amounts of farming live, which in turn gives us the next problem.
As you all know, the villain market is VERY tight and VERY expensive comparatively. It is already almost impossible to get the sets you need, especially purple sets. Herein lies the major problem for villain PVErs...and yes, this does affect you more than you think. Get ready for the market to get even MORE constrictive when all these recipes being dumped on the market from endless amounts of farming goes away on all servers. Now, of course you will still have your day by day farmers, PVErs grinding for prestige, etc dumping stuff on the market, but it's not gonna be even close to what you see now. So, this means, goodbye ultra rares in numbers, goodbye rares, increase those LotG prices, those Miracle prices, etc.
For PVE, I find the villain powers to be just fine, lots of good choices there. But giving blue side access to our two BEST powersets and putting them in the hands of players with access to the APPs and unresistable debuffs, etc. is overkill and 100% puts an end to any thought of villains being able to match heroes in zones, raids, or arena. The zones will be dead and many groups will leave the game. Whether you like them or not, PVPers do contribute to your PVE success and enjoyment subtly and somewhat behind the scenes. I think you would at least be compassionate enough about how we feel that the piece of the game a lot of us enjoy the most is getting shafted and even more imbalanced.
gg PVP, PVE here we come, it's all we got left...

tl;dr
I am with holding my "dev-hate" (if any) after I can test these new powersets and get some concrete foundation of just how sucky or over-powered they may be. To whine now with ultimatium, etc is premature and ignorant.
However, fully discussing the options for each powerset sounds like a good idea. -

Wow... some you people seriously just suck.
The game just added HUNDREDS of power sets. If you can't find any you like? Find a new game... seriously... leave.
Gift Horse / Mouth anyone?

This is just the first round of Powerset Proliferation, there will be more.
I would give $100 bucks to watch Elf Stalker pronounce "Proliferation" in RL.
