It seems you proved his point without knowing it.

My personal preference would be for Scrappers to simply get a damage increase.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mine too and I would wager Brutes resistance caps to be lowered to 85% or even 80%. I don't want this to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised. -
SR is positional defense; melee, range and AoE.
EA is typed; smashing, lethal, fire, etc etc
I have limited experience with EA but my experience with SR tells me it doesn't take much (IOs or power pools) to become highly effective). -
Wow, this is ridiculous. You broke out the dictionary, lol.
[ QUOTE ]
Because none of the armor sets meet your expectations (a judgment of the sets). Thus the word, "delusional". Note also that it refers to those expectations.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are being weird about this use of the word "poor" when referring to the S/L resistance for Brutes.
You are correct that I consider most brute secondaries to have poor S/L resistance. Like I said earlier, good job on concluding something I already stated.
[ QUOTE ]
If nothing meets your criteria - and by your stated criteria nothing does - your expectations are too high.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank the lord there are these Power Pool thingys that let me pick up another 16-17% S/L resist and satisfy my criteria. Who would have thought!
[ QUOTE ]
I won't argue that Electric Armor has relatively low mitigation. I will continue to state that it's not due to "poor resistance" - by the standards set (the other armor sets) the resistance is just fine.
[/ QUOTE ]
I never said ELA had poor resistances. I stated ELA has poor S/L resistance, which it does. If S/L were not the most common damage type in the game, then I would think differently. AND since ANY brute I create can pick-up Tough to offset the "poor" resistance then I see no problem.
RE: the rest of your post...
Very ridiculous. -

All IO'd out with Purple Sets - Now what?

Mash buttons. -

You've concluded what I've already stated multiple times, good work.
[/ QUOTE ]
That your expectations are delusional?
I don't seem to recall you saying that, but okay...
[/ QUOTE ]
Why do you have to sort to personal attacks?
It's clear you don't agree with me referring to 40% s/L has poor. That's fine. I even supported my statement with my personal judgements about obtaining Tough and finding that acceptable.
But instead of you taking the adult approach, you decided to call me dilusional for not agreeing your use of the word "poor." Nice.
My suggestion for the OP is DM/SR. A DM/SR brute is > then a DM/ELA brute even if they both take the Fighting Pool. You subjective opinion about my use of the word "poor" is a POOR attempt to deflect the topic. -
You've concluded what I've already stated multiple times, good work.
-
I do mean what I said and you telling me otherwise is stupid.
I'll keep calling your precious ELA poor in the S/L resis department until the cows come home. That's my opinion and not something I care to bicker about any longer.
If we were talking about fire/cold/psi, then 41% resistance is acceptable due to the less common damage types. But for S/L, and to a less extent energy, 41% resistance...I consider "poor." -
[ QUOTE ]
So what's the cutoff on "poor", then? 50%? 60%? 90%? You can believe that 90% is poor resistance, but that doesn't make it accurate.
Given that there's no other measure beyond the other Brute armor sets, and it's almost as far ahead of the next-best sets as it is behind the only set ahead of it, I'd say that "poor" means that you simply think each and every Brute armor set is horrible crap and so you'd never play a Brute because they all have "poor resistance".
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure why you resort to hyperbole or even an aggressive tone.
The "poor" S/L resis provided by brute armors is acceptable to me since I have always, and will always, obtain Tough to mitigate such common damage types (smashing and lethal).
So, I find the 55-60% S/L resistance acceptable for brutes outside of specific Tier 9s. Anything below 50% resistance to the most common damage types in game, I consider poor for brutes and tanks. Don't take it personally little buddy, it's nothing against you.
And I hope you are not assuming that I never play brutes because that would be waaaaay too amusing. So if you are done using emotions and hyperbole to try and belittle my use of the word "poor" to define the S/L resistance granted from a brute's secondary, let's move on. -
I should note that I wasn't comparing the S/L of ELA with any other set, you did. My analysis of "poor" s/l is based on the slotted percentages, and I consider 41% s/l (fully slotted mind you) "poor" due to the popularity of the damage types.
-
Since poor is a subjective term, I can use it to describe the S/L resis in Ela, apparently that offends you.

I keep seeing complaints like the OPs but it's not like any of these occurences are new. Before AE, there were PLed 50s that couldn't find their [censored] with a map and after AE...the same thing. -

What I don't understand is people who put the Fighting pool back until their 40s. Why would you want to wait until level 49 to finally be softcapped? It's possible, without gimping yourself, to be softcapped by level 30-31, if not even sooner. There is more than enough room to fit in weave (and a res/def in tough), if you replace Jab with Boxing, and don't take Knockout until later.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm currently level 42 on my Fire/SR Brute, no Weave in my build and I'm currently sitting at 47.5% Melee, 46% Ranged adn 43% AoE defense; all thanks to IOs.
I'm not sure I even need Weave at this point but might take it for ITF/def debuff purposes. -

My vote is for DM/SR. Even with ELA's resis to energy, being hit by a Rikti's sword is going to put a hurtin on ELA with their poor S/L resis outside Power Surge. -
[ QUOTE ]
you get it better after you build up, way better, statistically
conceptually, its the same damn attack.
[/ QUOTE ]
You seem to use words that you have no clue as to their meaning.
Most attacks between Tanks and Brutes are IDENTICAL. What makes brutes a damage dealer is their Inherent; Fury. If you think building 10% Fury, which takes all of 3-4 attacks, is too cumbersome for you to handle...then go back to scrappers silly boy.
Brutes will always out pace tanks in terms of damage output and will *usually* out pace scrappers (if we deal with DPS over time and 90%+ Fury).
God knows what point you are trying to make since your basis is so flawed it makes no sense. -

After the changes to ET and Barrage I still played my EM/ELA...even after my SS/WP hit 50. But since I made my Fire/SR Brute I no longer see the enjoyment from EM/ELA. TO be honest, I don't really have the time to play more then 2 brutes at a time with my damn altitis. So, my ELM/DA and EM/ELA brute sit on the shelves. -
I love B_I's posts. They are always full of such crap one can do nothing but smile.

I'm not sure if it's my computer, but I couldn't get the link to work.

Hi all,
I'm pretty newish to this section...so be gentle.
Anyways, I made a thread in the CoH General Forum about creating a hero with canine features. I'm having a rather difficult time creating something resembling a dog.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with creating a dog type hero?
Here is the other thread:Sorry for cross-posting but a poster made the suggestion to ask you art gurus. -
I made a new character after a long night of drinking and then watching Under Dog. I decided to make him a Warshade with the name Astro Dog...except I did an absolutely terrible job of making him look anything like a mutt (except for the floppy ears).
I need some help and call to you costume design gurus and wizards. Please help me design a hero with dog like features!
Keep in mind he is a Warshade and the name is Astro Dog but costume, colors, etc are free range.
Reeeeeeeeeady...GO! -
With most ATs, brutes can be rough before SOs. Teaming will help ease the pain.
I usually invest in my primary first, so try adding some slots into your attacks (maybe killing things faster will stop them from almost killing you). You should also be slotting End Reduction into your attacks over damage (keep the acc) since Fury is your damage for now.
Lastly, I don't know what diff you are on but keep it low for now until you get some more experience with your sets and how you cna maximize your damage and survivability. Experience is key. -

Geez, another drama thread in the tankers forum? C'mon guys/gals...not even the defenders forum is made up of such drama llamas.

The Defenders likely figure they're due to be looked at after Domms are done getting theirs.
