Why not a giant robot running around on the loose *on* a secret Moon Base Underwater Zone?

It can be a bit trickier with /INV due to the typed defenses. I would have to know your build in order to know what sets I would slot. -
I'm on the east coast but wanted to let you know there are many SGs that offer exactly what you want.
If you play on freedom, we have a medium sized SG that is always looking for new members that are willing to join. There is a 30 day recruitment period, but during that time you still team with everyone and use our global chat. Fill out an application and make a post at www.doomheroes.com -

Doms were deleted...no need to rush home from work!

Well, guess that's one way to deal with an AT that's underperforming. -

DA has the best survivability of any melee armor set outside of tier-9s (and it's as good as some teir-9s).
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree ALOT. SR, INV, WP are all more survivable outside of Tier 9s in my experience. -

My first 50 Brute was Elm/Da. It was fun but I've never been overly impressed with Dark Armor. I think there are too many tricks or layers of mitigation and the set does none of them exceptionally well. I would rank this set close to Fire and Elec for survivability on teams.
I do have a DA/Energy Tank that seems to be doing much better but that's because I've dropped countless millions of inf into IOs and Melee Defense.
Basically, DA is a good all around set for general PvE but tough mobs and/or AV type encounters can prove hazardous.
I have championed a few changes to DA over my years here and they are:
1. Allow Dark Regen and Death Shroud to apply -tohit debuff on affected targets, non-stackable. -5% tohit from DR, -3.5% from DS, and only DS' tohit debuff is enhanceable
2. Have Dark Regen's endurance usage fluctuate with # of enemies hit up to 3 targets. 1 target hit, 33% of current end cost or 11 endurance cost(before end red), 2 targets 66% of endurance or 22 endurance (before end red), 3 targets hit...normal endurnace cost.
3. Replace Soul Transfer with Eclipse, a slightly watered down version.
I can see the first two being applied and the last one is more of a hope. To be honest, just doing #3 would fix most problems with DA. -
I find Energy Blast/Energy Manipulation for blasters a hoot. The amount of KB is always fun and very comic booky. Just learn to use the KB against walls or from above to avoid aggro from teammates.

Statesman being able to use Unstoppable permanently is balanced?
[/ QUOTE ]
Avoidable. Don't fight him last.
[ QUOTE ]
Positron being able to put your recharge into the negatives is balanced?
[/ QUOTE ]
How is this different then fighting regular PvE mobs?
[ QUOTE ]
BABS handclap dealing 2000+ damage is balanced?
Manticore's autohit Teleport Arrow is balanced?
the Phalanx having a linked agro system is balanced?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, it's all balanced around bringing the right mix of damage, buffs, debuffs and, most importantly, intelligence to the team.
By the way, I'm pretty sure the AVs in STF have linked aggro as well. I've seen some of them "show up" while fighting one or two others. -
[ QUOTE ]
Considering that all other PvE content the Devs have made including the STF is balanced, I would say yes.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, not being able to hit Mako is balanced?
So, not being able to kll GW because her hold one shots anything below and sometimes including a tank, is balanced?
RSF is tough and I enjoy every moment AND especially victory. STF is too easy in comparison and should be much more difficult. -
I think the RSF is great fun and I don't mind failing somethign that is suppose to be hard.

And then were going back into specialized team building
So it's either build to maximize success or expect team wipes?
Neither of these options are particularly good.
IS there a 3rd one we can use?
[/ QUOTE ]
LRSF requires fore-thought, as does the STF. This isn't a conspiracy but common sense instead. -

The problem is powers like PSW are left untouched even though everyone who has used it knows it is overpowered. This should have been changed years ago. I support the PSW change, but why has it taken so long? It isn't exactly a new phenomenon.
[/ QUOTE ]
The same question was asked many times durig the changes to Energy Melee. I believe it was Castle that stated somethign about wanting to make changes to certain powers for years but resources, budget, etc. kept the changes from being research and implemented. Now that the dev team is much larger and given more money, etc, the developers have time to reel in the outliers like PSW.
It's a Catch 22. We want NcSoft to give CoH more money to keep the game alive and to give us more/better content, but that same money allows all the OPed powers to come under the radar. -
He also agreed any nerf to PSW would have to be offset by buffs to the Psi Assault but since that hinders your argument...you'll ignore that piece of information I'm sure.
-
OMG you know the changes on test already?! HAX!
Oh wait, you're speculating again. Whenever you post the possible changes to PSW, be sure to post the possible changes to the entire Psi set, ok? That way your opinion is more well-rounded and not so biased. -

I hope this isn't how we are suppose to judge the skill of our fellow players. Otherwise, I'm in deep [censored]. -

definately get hasten with DM, cant agree more.
clouded, which set combo do you find to be the "least poor" for fighting rikti?
[/ QUOTE ]
DM/SR or DM/EA are both good choices but I would take /SR over EA for personal reasons. DM is a good primary since it's not resisted very much by the rikti. Fire would also be a prime choice.
DM/SR and Fire/SR would be nasty.
For the record, I never called ELA a poor set or even a poor set against rikti. That whole tangent started when I gave my opinion in regards to the Smashing/Lethal Resistance % from ELA. ELA w/ Tough is a good set for Rikti as well, just not my first choice. -
What the hell does identical inherently mean? I don't understand.
And to surpass a tanker's damage output, a brute only needs 10%. So again, i don't udnerstand your gibberish. -
[ QUOTE ]
Really, you CAN tell. You just have to actually TRY to understand how both the game AND people work.
[/ QUOTE ]
Right and when you tell the difference, it's perfectly acceptable to lower yourself and become a poor representation of a CoH player. Got it.
Me? I either ignore them or explain to them how/what/when/where. Why? Because I choose to be a nice person rather then a dick. -
I also recommend stamina for any brute since endurance cna sometimes be your only limiting factor. Once you pick-up Power Sink then you might change your mind, expecially if you grab Conserve Power.
I skipped Hasten on my EM/ELA Brute since I was able to achieve the same amount of recharge from Lightning Reflexes (+20%) and +recharge from IOs. You'll have to figure out if Hasten is right for your build.
Definitely take Power Surge, your Tier 9, since it makes you god-like for 180s especially from Rikti with their smashing/energy/psi damage types.
Taunt is skippable if you are taking Lightning Field. If no LF, then I suggest taunt to keep the critters pounding on you for max Fury.
You can skip Grounded (if you take CJ and Acro) and Conserve Power from ELA. I'll let someone else talk about DM since my experience is limited to scrapper's DM.
