Which effectively means that you believe all influential people, ever and into the future, must be competent.
[/ QUOTE ]
I said they must have some competency, and I firmly believe this to be true. Feel free to prove me wrong but it will be very difficult to find an influential person that doesn't contain some competency that lead them to their current standing. -

I don't agree. They were obviously competent enough to 1. get elected and 2. not be impeached.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol, you think that requires competence?
LMAO!

And I'll restate my disagreement - a lot of influential people are influential because of their incompetence (ie, consistent making of many mistakes, or making a few very large mistakes). That they got the chance to make those mistakes based on prior competence is possibly, but not necessarily true, and what's more doesn't matter - just that their actual influence came from screwups rather than successes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here you make broad generalizations about "alot of influential people" and then you state this...
[ QUOTE ]
overly broad generalizations are usually false.

In elections with an under-50% voter turnout rate and where the crushing majority of voters - in many elections, over 90% of the people who do vote - will vote based on party rather than actual appraisals of competence, it is very easy to get elected without being particularly competent.
Furthermore, it usually is not the candidate who is primarily responsible for his campaign, it is a campaign manager or other 'mastermind' - think Karl Rove.
On the subject of impeachment... presidents and other officials aren't impeached for incompetence, they're (supposed to be) impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors performed while in office. In reality, impeachment proceedings have been exceedingly rare and were only ever carried through for political reasons; Nixon (where it would have been justified on legal grounds) resigned prior to being impeached.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not interested in debating politics, etc. blahblahblah. So, I'll restate my point; to be influential, a person must contain some competency. -

You really do NOT want to go there.

It would seem that not everyone agrees he is the plague to end all plagues.

you don't have to be competent to be influential.

Uh, yes you do. -

The problems I've been seeing with my willpower brute is that range debuffs seem to rip right through it, especially sappers. This isn't really a problem for soloing since the spawns are a lot smaller, but on 8-man teams they start to add up.
[/ QUOTE ]
You just gotta close on the problem critter first but that's normal gameplay. -

Put some heals in RttC! The tohit debuff is very minor, even fully slotted.
Do this. Monitor your Regen Rate while you don't have RttC slotted with Heals. Notice your average rate with 3-5 critters or more, depending on your test parameters. Next, slot 2-3 Heal Enhancements and then monitor the Regen Rate once again with the same amount of enemies.
I bet you'll *facepalm* once you see the difference. -
Gloom makes an excellent addition to a DM/ Brute's attack chain. As you said, Gloom applies a minor -tohit debuff that will stack with your Dark Melee attack's -tohit debuff. Plus, the short animation makes it a great filler (i believe it's the old ET animation, or Scorch animation).

For farming, /Elec is a great secondary; end replenishment and a damage aura are perfect for farming with a brute.

Perhaps there could be a new mechanic devised for EB/AV encounter where so much KB would equal a Stun or Disorient type effect or something. -
Now before I get burned to a crisp I would appreciate the time to explain my intentions on posting this Suggestion.
I would like Knockback/Knockdown to be more effective on tougher foes. I'm not entirely sure how to go about addressing the dilemma but this is why I posted the thread; to get some feedback.
Most recently, I have been playing my Energy/Energy Blaster that is tons of fun to play (currently levl 47). Knockback is very fun to watch and gives me that superhero feel when I launch a critter 20 yards.
However, I seem to have trouble with tougher enemies like EBs and some Bosses. The only secondary effect my Blasts, and some secondary attacks, offer is KB/KD which can be nullified by some Bosses and most EBs/AVs, if not all of them. I find this troublesome.
I will decimate mobs and critters throughout a mission, having great fun only to hit a brick wall once I find out there is an EB at the end of the mission. I end up winning but not without the help of many many inspirations (mostly lucks, etc) and 1-2 hospital trips (stupid Anti-matter) which can take away from some of the fun.
So my suggestion is to create a new mechanic, or revise the current one, that allows my KB to stack on EBs/AVs (maybe bosses) long enough for my secondary to be of use on tough opponents; whether that's KB/KD or just a moment of breathing room, I don't care. -

For your SS/WP Brute? Yes. -

Sidekicking on the ITF is only a problem if people wish to complete it in under 60 minutes. I like to take my time and punch stuff in the face but I find myself in the minority when I join PUGs forming the ITF. I'm not talking about killing everything on each map, but not bypassing all the mobs either.
Kill what is on the way to the objectives. Doing this efficiently can still net a 60-90 minute ITF which is pretty lucrative for inf/exp/drops. -

Well I fight boss spawns... So for me footstomp out damages lightning rod.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't say primary, I said secondary. If the brute is running around with +750% damage, then who cares if his secondary gives him more +damage (shields).
A SS/SD Brute at the damage cap will Foot Stomp for the same amount as a SS/WP at the damage cap (not including any damage procs).
That was the only point I was making, it's silly but still my point. Alot of farming brutes will look for a Kin to help speed things up, so I think it's a semi-valid point.
I'm not much of a farmer anymore since my ingame time is much much less now-a-days but I always preferred my SS/WP Brute with Dark Oblit for farming. Very sturdy, moderately fast and always fun.
I have yet to try anything with /shields though. -
If the Brute had Fulcrum Shift on him, then it wouldn't matter his secondary since his damage is most likely capped.

Hey Bill sorry if this is a noob question, what do you mean by canel your sub?
[/ QUOTE ]
I really hope there is more to your unsubbing Billz then what was not contained in Issue 15, cause that would be lame.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because it's the first day of beta. That's why. If you've ever been apart of a closed beta here, you should know things change especially after the first day.
It's not like I15 takes anything away from CoX. We still get to play the same game with some new TFs/SFs.
But, to each their own. -

I specifically said I don't want a Tankmage. A Tanker that does Tanker damage is not a Tankmage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why not? Tanker damage isn't poor, and it can actually be quite devastating if you know how to build for it.
[ QUOTE ]
The difference between a ranged attack that does 50 damage and a melee attack that does 50 damage is NOTHING. The only difference is the presentation of the power. The reality is even that the ranged attack would actually do closer to 35 damage, since ranged attacks are less powerful in general. Then again, I said this too.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you're telling me that you'd be ok with an AT that had tanker defenses/resistances w/ Defender Range Damage modifier?
HAHAHAHAHAHAA. No way, I can't believe that based on your posts about FF/EB Defender in the MA missions.
Whew, that was pretty funny. -
[ QUOTE ]
However, being limited to only melee powers is very limiting to concepts like mine, that require the combination of toughness and ranged powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you even read feedback? As others have posted, you are NOT limited to melee attacks. There are ranged attacks in the Epics and I can think of two Secondaries that both include a ranged attack.
What you want is a Tankmage.
My Energy/Energy/Elc Blaster is a homage to Iron Man. He's plenty tough. Of course there are some irregularities to his concept but since he's a homage in a world where someone elses rules apply, I work with what I'm given. If you haven't tried the Elec pool for Blasters, then you are missing out. Surge of Power is a excellent tool (yes, I know you look like a gremlin) and Charged Armor certainly adds some toughness to your character by giving you resistance to the 3 most popular damage types in this game; smashing, lethal and energy.
I can't wait for CO to be released. Finally we'll stop seeing posts from yourself and J_B about your silly concepts and how CoX can't meet your design goals. -

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it has something to do with the 5th Column...maybe, possibly.
