I agree with the Fox. After my testing I gave the changes a 7 out of 10, with 10 being Excellent. The changes help and I like them, but I feel as if there is something else missing or perhaps Castle ran out of time to take the revamp to another level all together.
Anyways, I'll be playing my doms once this goes Live. -
There are not nerfs to SS, so what did you call?
-
It seems you forget when Castle said he would revisit Rage at a later date. This came about on Test when the first changes to Rage were reverted.
There are balance issues with SS and I know eventually Castle will get around to balancing the set or just Rage. It's only a matter of time. -
I'm one of those player that takes HC in the lower levels when playing a SS Tank or Brute. I find the power does a great job providing some breathing room when all else fails.
This power gets a poor reputation due to it's +5 mag Knockback that most forumites seem to loathe. Along with this KB the power has a 30s recharge and sucks 13 endurance (prior to slotting), which seems excessive.
The closest analog to HC is Fault from Stone Melee.
Here is a quick run down from City of Data...
Fault:
<ul type="square">[*]Available at Level 8[*]15 foot radius, PBAoE[*]2.1s cast time[*]10.192 endurance cost[*]20s recharge[*]+0.67 Knockback[*]+9.536s Stun (mag 2) PvE only[*]+9.536s Stun (mag 1) (50% chance) PvE only[*]+13.5s Taunt (mag 4) Raid mob
Handclap:
<ul type="square">[*]Available at Level 6[*]15 foot radius, PBAoE[*]1.23s cast[*]13 endurance[*]30s recharge[*]+9.536s Stun (mag 2) PvE only[*]+9.536s Stun (mag 1) (50% chance) PvE only[*]+5.193 Knockback PvE only[*]+13.5s Taunt (mag 4)
I'm suggesting that Handclap be revised by lowering the endurance to 10 and recharge to 15-20 seconds. I wouldn't mind the KB being reduced but I think it would take away the uniqueness and feel of the Power. -

Depends on what its paired with. Pair it with WP and the knockback works against RTTC. Footstomp is much better because it lets you heal up off the critters.
[/ QUOTE ]
We all know FS > HC. I didn't suggest otherwise.
HC is a great power for mitigation. Those that have a problem with the power are the efficiency experts who strive for max exp/min or who solo.
For a fun, themed build, HC is great and the mitigation is phenomenal.
However, the power needs to be revised by lowering the endurance cost and recharge time. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yea handclap sucks. If you need a mitigation power that does no damage you may want to rethink your slotting of your secondary.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you say the same thing to people who take Fault from SM? -
[ QUOTE ]
No end recovery, no heal, no 'tool' powers - so after level 32 SS had better be doing better aoe damage/mitigation than DM - but if you nerf footstomp, what exactly does SS have on DM? Not much if anything imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're one of those people that lolhandclap aren't you?
People knock HC alot around here but that power offers ALOT of mitigation. Take off your blinders. -
Jadkni wins round 1.
Let Round 2 begin...

Here's a serious question.
What makes Rage overpowered?
I think it would be interesting to see why Rage is OP based on math and stats rather then from random guesses.
I don't care if Rage is nerfed or not, but I would like to see a good discussion about the power. -
I agree with you but you know and I know, being mature is a rarity on the forums.

Castle and his crew were entirely consumed by custom critter powers in the 13-14 time frame. There's no dishonesty or secret agendas...there was just a lot of work that went in under the hood for Mission Architect.
There wasn't any time for powerset proliferation then, and with the work being done for future content, there's not really a lot of time to do it now. Proliferation is very low hanging fruit, but we're really jammed right now and I honestly can't say when we might be able to squeeze in another batch. What we need always ends up taking precedence over what we want, and right now there's a lot of need.

You realize this won't go over well, right? -

Yes.
EDIT: AVs take time to solo, usually 10-20 minutes give or take depending on resistances, Tier 9s (theirs), etc. It's kinda boring at times and only good for bragging rights really. I solo on Relentless and will come across AVs from time to time on story arcs. I usually fight them for a bit to see how I fair and then once I get bored, I'll drop a Shivan and move on. -
You seemed to answer your own question. But I would add that Rad/Sonics have been around alot longer which means players have more experience with the combo. That's about it.
I have a Cold/Ice Defender and it always saddens me when I'm on a TF and someone says "We are going to need a Rad for the AVs."
I use to get fired up and give a few reasons why Cold = Rad and was great for AVs, but nowadays I just ignore them and move on. -

And it was gotten backwards. The increased recharge is because of the increased damage, not the other way around.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, it seems Combustion does less damage now then it did under Old + Dom along with recharging slower and costing more endurance. I want to test more to confirm. -
I believe it deals the majority of damage up front with some DoT, but I'll have to double check.
I really just want to know why the endurance and recharged was increased and the damage brought down. And I hope it's not due to "the formula." -
[ QUOTE ]
The attacks do more damage. They're going to cost more endurance as a necessity. Longer recharges means more damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tell that to Combustion...it's over in the corner sobbing. -
[ QUOTE ]
The dom changes are snazzy, but unless I'm misreading you are being overly assertive about how they play for every dom based off of arguably the most beneficial dom combo in early game.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is weird...but I agree.
I rolled a new mind/energy Dom on test and with mesmerize, dominate, power bolt and power push my attack chain is fine right now.
BUT
I think it has more to do with all the ST attacks in these two sets. Which isn't a bad thing, but using it as a basis for stating attacks chains are fine is misleading at best. My Earth/Fire Dom (which has 4 ST attacks) has a 1-2 gap unless Hasten is active.
Plus...my poor Combustion. /e poursout40fordeadhommie -

actually, no, im on right now, on freedom, and the only thing ppl are looking for is brutes kins and doms, so i cant get a group with anything else, that i wanna play

Maybe it isn't the AT you play keeping you off teams, but the fact you're an a$$-hat. -

Woah dude. I was just asking a question, no need to nerdrage.
Ya, I tested the changes tonight a bit. Took my Earth/Fire against a +1 EB which went smoothly. Then rolled a Mind/Energy Dom and took him to level 5 running Burke's arc. Was a really fun experience.
I'll drop my feedback in the Main Thread once I get on Live to do the same missions for comparison.
Yep, so shut yo face.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wasn't nerdraging. I'd have to be upset to do that. Just don't call people out when you have done nothing yourself.
I'm glad you got around to testing and I'm glad you are enjoying it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wasn't calling you out. I was asking if you tested the changes since you are such a vocal poster.
Try to be less defensive. -
[ QUOTE ]
I can't imagine why the devs wouldn't want to communicate more with us as a community.

I'm a bit cranky tonight, my bad.
