Take my advice for what its worth...
1. I slot RttC; 3 Numina (Heal, Heal/End, Heal/Recharge), 2 Dark Watcher's (Tohit/End, Chance for Slow) and 1 Heal IO. No matter how you slot it, you shoudl invest in at least 2 Heal IOs.
2. Fast Healing is over slotted. You're probably going for bonuses but I really think you'd gain for survivability taking 2 slots out and putting them into RttC. I have FH slotted Numina Unique, Numina Heal, Numina Heal/End and Regen Tissue +Regen
3. Take 2 slots from CJ and put them in Mind Over Body. I think this toggle could use some more loving. Look at Titanium Coating for +HP or Aegis for +F/C Def
4. Another Heal IO in Health wouldn't hurt.
5. Drop Acro for something useful. -

I have Fluffy slotted with 3 Lycsoome HOs. I think that's the name, the Acc/-tohit debuff ones. -
I tend to use alot of the Cyborg items, mostly the gloves, face and head details. Oh and the belt.

I remember running this arc the first time on my Energy Melee/Electric Brute when Issue 10 (IIRC) was first introduced. This same brute soloed a few AVs and made general PvE content a joke.
However, I was soon face down, looking at the lovely linoleum that populated the wharehouse where these devilish Vanguard stood. It was pretty awesome to find something in this game that made me actually take pause and think about tactics...ON A BRUTE. WTH?!?! -
Quote:That's the beauty of this game, IMO. You see this game as always being reward-centric while others find themselves immersed in a world of superheroes and villains while not particularly paying attention to the more tangible rewards.it's been reward-centric since the day they opened the doors.
When I first joined, I was more elated with being a super villain than obtaining max/exp minute. Nowadays, I enjoy a little of both with a higher emphasis on obtaining the right IOs for my character's concept.
To Sam,
I really enjoyed reading your post! -
I recommend Leadership Pool for defenders if you have the space. On my Dark/Sonic and Cold/Ice I have Leadership since I mainly team and I love giving my comrades the extra buffs. Not to mention, it helps make my characters a bit more powerful and reach lofty goals like my Dark/Sonic being Soft-capped to Range Defense.
But I suggest taking Leadership after you have taken the major hitters from your primary/secondary. -

I wouldn't be surprised to see a new travel power or two in Going Rogue or the Issue that coincides with GR.
-
I personally don't have a problem with the current Fury generation and fury bar. That last thing Brutes want is for Castle to take a close look at them.
-
I'm there with you brother.
Come I16 I have to buy more slots so I can make my Rad/Fire Blaster, Spines/Elec Scrapper, Claws/WP Brute and Fire/Earth Dom. Why yes, I do like damage. -
-
Having played a Claws/ Brute on test...wow. Sorry I ever dogged Claws, seriously. It's pretty damn effective.

Combustion: Decreased this powerÂ’s damage over time component damage scale from 1.2 to .8, increased its recharge from 15 seconds to 17 seconds and increased its endurance cost from 13 to 16.

This saddens me a bit since it was my main source of AoE damage, but I'll gladly test the changes tonight on my 39 Earth/Fire before I comment. -
I think the problem lies with players trying to define something that isn't clearly definable.
My ingame time is considered casual, 10 hours a week now. However, when I'm ingame I like to find the best loot to make my characters represent my mind's goal for them. Even if finding the loot takes weeks or months, I will eventually finish the build(s).
Is that 'hardcore?' Not from where I sit.
I see hardcore as someone who takes the game mightly seriously and puts forth much more effort into leveling, learning and completing their builds.
I use to be 'hardcore' but now I just enjoy my time ingame; blasting, defending, chatting, selling, buying, respecing, etc. -
This is very true. Just because I have a self-rez and carry at least 5 large wakie inspirations does not mean I tend to faceplant alot, and don't ask anyone in my SG either. >_>
Just adding some levity to this srs bsns thread. -
Quote:I feel like you contradict yourself when referring to Purple IOs vs. PvP IOs. Both can be had with enough money and time. There are players that 'casually' pvp as well. The thing of it is, Purples are not the epic hard-core gamer only loot some people are making them out to be. They are standard, though extreamly rare drops for a level 50. By that very fact they are geared toward the casual gamer who does not participate in large scale raids or complex end-game content. They drop during basic missions. Nothing hard-core about that, they just take time to gather.
As I said before the closest we have to true power gamer loot is PVP drops. HO's can also be seen as this thanks to the revamp of Hammi, but with the lack of bonuses they tend to be viewed negatively by the general population.
This is why labels fail. -
I'm in a similar boat as Calash.
I don't have gobs of time to play anymore, maybe 1-2 hours 3 days during the week and a handful of hours during the weekend. To me, I play this game leisurely or casually.
But.
I like IOs. I don't have any purple sets slotted but I do have 10 50s (over 3+ years), and 8 of those are heavily IOed with Sets and Uniques. I use the market and my drops to my advantage since making Inf in this game is ridiculously easy.
I'm a casual player by my inability to play more often but I could be considered a min/max or hardcore gamer by others. -

This rep thing is a blessing and a curse as I see it now.
I submit the following example:
Quote:This negative rep was left in this thread by some coward. I have received negative rep before that was warranted by what I typed, and I have no issues with those repsI thought you quit. was hoping anyway
So, please let me know who you are.
Cheers and TGIF everyone! -
Quote:So now KB is considered griefing?Fixed for you.
There are plenty of characters and concepts out there that random KB actively ruins. Just because you LIKE knockback doesn't mean you should force everyone into playing your way, so *you* can feel super. What about everyone else who wants to feel super? Your playstyle is actively griefing their playstyle.
Quote:Everyone in this game thinks that their way is the only way to play. KB lovers are as guilty of this as everyone else, only the difference is that they ruin more of the other players' games than any other powerset in the game.
Really, it all circles back to terrible players not knowing how to correctly utilize the secondary effect. It's just that KB is much more noticeable to the other players than other secondary effects (slows, -def, etc). -
Hello my fellow SMASH denizens.
I finished my Fire/SR BRute build a few weeks ago and while it's very tough I wonder if I've waste some time and inf on getting too much defense. Below is my current build and if you import it into Mid's you'll note about 55% Defense to Melee and Ranged and 53% Def to AoE.
So, I've run this character through most content including ITFs, Farms, Mothership Raids and he does great. So what's my problem? There are times when the Random Number Generated (RNG) hates me and I get pummeled very quickly and since I don't have a self heal I can only pray that the RNG shows mercy on the next incoming attacks. The only answer I've come up with to help my above scenario is...
Aid Self.
I could drop the Fighting Pool all together and grab Stimulant, Aid Self and Gloom and still maintain 46% to M/R and 44.8% to AoE. So what's my problem?
I last used Aid Self on my EM/ELA Brute and hated depending on the power when things got tough. But since /SR is a defensive set utilizing Aid Self might be MUCH easier.
How many of you/SR Brutes have Aid Self? Has it been a defining power for you? Have you played high level content with and without it?
Thanks in advance.
My Build.

Quote:Indeed. On my blaster I have six slotted Power Thrust and Power Push (kinetic crash sets) and I love to find a low level thug whoopin on poor granny in Atlas Park, and send him flying so far I lose sight of him. It always makes me smile.Yes, but then you miss one of the points I like about the Energy Blast set. It lets you feel Super Powered by knocking and throwing around your targets like, well, ragdolls. Other games I have played *coughWoW*, which lack this game mechanic make things *feel* a little too pew pew pew for me.

I thought this too until I got a couple negative reps. Now I'm actually trying to be nicer to people on the boards. I know, I'm lame...now gimme positive rep!
