On my Dark/Sonic I went with the Dark APP. For theme and for OG. I currently have 46% Range Defense and keep OG toggled to help deal with any critters that get to close. OG coupled with Screech can even keep that boss stunned indefinitely if I so choose.
I too took Shout out of my build since I didn't find it very useful in the late game where I spend the majority of my time. I just cycle Scream, Shriek and Screech for AVs.
Looks like anythig else I had to say has been covered. -

Hmm, do you still gain Fury when Phased? With all my experience I don't know that answer. I would assume you would since the enemy is still trying to attack you but you never know if Phase (hibernate) prevents Fury from building.
Quick, someone copy to test and respec into Phase! -
Quote:You're still missing the point. I don't think any knew the maps were changed. So it's very difficult for testers to find such a bug.Lets see, he didnt ask to be informed of bugs(reading comprehension ftw) he asked to be informed of changes, so we could test for bugs. the game doesnt usually substitute maps, that is usually hard coded in. He had no problem with the new map, just that the bug with the glowies went live because no one knew to test for it. A quick run through would have shown this easy during beta. Simple quality control.
Having been in many betas here I can tell you many folks test the new additions/changes that are noted in patch notes, etc. They don't randomly test previous content unless specifically asked by the dev team. Well, most testers anyway. -
Quote:I do agree with your assertion that many bugs and many items break in this game from Issue to Issue. I wish it were more streamline as well. I just wonder if this happens because the devs are working with an outdated engine, poor coding (like the base code) or a combination of the two.The position specific to me is that they have been making very conceptually similar "simple mistakes" for a long time. They've made some improvements over the years certainly, but still break things too often for my tastes. I'd like to have seen those mistakes result in better continuous improvement, so that such bugs surface less with each release.
I know I'm biased. I work in an environment with a very high bar for software correctness. Of course, it's not a game environment, and when my team's system doesn't work right, its other people in the enterprise who come asking why. I can imagine that has a far different dynamic from an MMO shop where players get mad about bugs in game.
But just because I would love to see a higher bar doesn't mean I am trying to vilify devs individually or collectively (and I acknowledge you weren't accusing me of such specifically). I just wish the results made it look like they had a higher bar. -
This happened to me after I16 hit Live but the patch right afterwards seemed to fix teh issue. Last night I played for a few hours and didn't experience any issues (from 7 pm-10pm EST on Freedom, CoV).

Quote:I think it's more you (general "you" for those that share this viewpoint) are assigning malicious intent to the devs for the changes, rather than them making a simple mistake. That's the point.
There's a frequent thing some people do on the internet (and probably elsewhere, but I notice it on forums). When someone vigorously defends a position that isn't on a topic of life-and-death magnitude, other people have a tendency to think that vigorous defense means the person is making a bigger deal out of the issue than is warranted.
When you post something, and other posters come along and decry what you said or claim it untrue, failing to respond risks lending credence to their argument in the eyes of other readers. It's like the old parable of letting the madman give sermons in the marketplace - if no one challenges what he says, some people may start to believe it.
No one here is saying anything being discussed is the end of the world. This is a video game - there are infinitely more important things in the world. However, some of us like this game, and when it's broken when it seems it needn't be so often, that's frustrating. Just because we don't want to let that issue be buried under dissenting views doesn't mean we think it's "the end of the world". -

Welcome to the game and the forums! CoV has some of the best content ingame and it should occupy you and your GF for sometime. I too started with CoV, but eventually broke down and picked up CoH when I had exhausted all content (after 1 1/2 years of playing).
Enjoy and feel free to ask questions, get build advice and just have a good ole time! -
Quote:I don't see you having many endurance issues if you make use of Dark Consumption from your primary. The Dark Corruptor will be providing plenty of mitigation with Darkest Night, Fearsome Stare, etc.Brother and I have a concept for a Dark/Dark Brute/Corrupter that we are running with, but I'm kind of confused on how to best approach my Brutes build. Most of my experience comes with Corruptors (with 1 lvl 50 SS/ELA Brute).
First question is about the Endurance Issues associated with Dark. Debating whether I should go with CJ over CoD and also what to do about CoF and Death Shroud. With the Corruptor throwing our Fearsome Stare, I'm not sure why I would need CoF and don't know if OG should be taken in its place of if I should just skip them both all together.
Second, is there anything that is considered a "must have" from the Pool Sets, other than my Travel and Fitness pool that is. Fighting, Leadership, Medicine?
Any advice will be helpful. Just keep in mind that this will be almost 95% duo (as with most of our toons).
Thanks in Advance.
If this were me, then I'd try and get alot of defense since the Corruptor should have Shadow Fall (~5-6% def when slotted) and Darkest Night (-15%+ tohit debuff)...and possibly Manuevers. You could grab Cloak Darkness and Weave for an additional 10 -12% defense combined. Shadow Fall, from the corr, should cap your Neg. Energy Resistance, nearly cap Psi Resis and give you another 15%-20% resis for Energy (which is NEEDED on a /dark brute).
If you plan to take Touch of Fear from your primary then I wouldn't bother with CoF, even though it offers another source of -tohit, but you'll have plenty of that from Fearsome Stare, Dark Servant and Darkest Night from the Corr. CoF for Brutes Fears minons and LTs, so you would only need to hit the Boss with Touch of Fear to "lock down" the mob.
OG is always a nice pick-up since the endurance cost is neglible and is very effective source of mitigation. Tar Patch for the corr will help prevent critters from wandering too far when stunned.
You two should be a pretty effective combo.
p.s. You posted at 12:48 AM on the weekend and not many brute players use Dark Armor. I bet if you had asked about WP, Shields, etc...you might have had a few more responses. -
The exchange(s) between Nethergoat and B_I use to be entertaining but it's getting pretty repetitive now.
I wish Going Rogue would go to Beta or another Booster Pack would be announced so I can see you two bicker about something new.
Topic:
I dig I16.
Oh and I would like to make a public apology to JDubz, JDouble, Jacobi, or whatever your name is now.
*ahem*
I was wrong about Claws, you were right. I'm sorry for thinking they were going to be lack luster and boring. Even though it's the most resisted damage type ingame (lethal), the set is still very powerful and effective.
See? I have some non-jerk qualities. -
Quote:Good job.An HOUR to level 5? I thought sewer teams were meant to be fast levelling?
I can hit level 5 just with street sweeping in WAY less than an hour...
We had 3 scrappers, 1 tank and 2 blasters. Lots of damage, but not much mitigation. There were some rough spots that slowed us down.
Either way it was good times. Spines/Elec scrapper is a blast so far, a bit squishy but with Tanks around (they take the aggro), ELA looks like a perfect set for Scrappers. -
I like rep. It's helped me curtail being too much of an a$$hat to others. So, I think it should stay.
The only problem I have is when I'm negative repped with an insult and I ask a Mod to help out...and they ignore it or find being calle a moron acceptable.
Either way, I typically sign my reps no matter if it's + or -. -
Quote:Do you fight random critters on the street while you run to/from your missions? You may have gotten one of the contacts that actually hand out enough missions for level 5. There's at least one origin (possibly two) where it works out.
However, consider this. This was with me cleaning out all the missions completely (several had mobs that you could easily skip by accident).
That could be one possible explanation.
If I'm running missions on a new lowbie, then I tend to fight any mob (conning green or higher) that is on the way to the mission and the way back to the contact/training/quartermaster. -
-
Cookin is actually very easy and fun...I just hate all the damn cleaning that has to be done afterwards.

Quote:You didn't accurately reflect the argument. You keep ignoring the Developers did not intend for MA to be used as a PL Eden. Obviously, the sewers provide an alternate suorce of leveling for lowbies and introduces players to a game mechanic, street sweeping.exaggeration for effect is an entertaining rhetorical device, as long as it accurately reflects the argument being made.
PLing in MA was a different monster all together. Hardly on the same level.
Quote:And I don't really have an 'argument' here, I'm just pointing out they hypocrisy of lauding one type of farming while deploring another.
You can't lump "farming" under one umbrella anymore...there are too many forms (street sweeping, radio missions, merits, tickets, etc etc etc etc). -

When am I going to get my dual pistol packing, rainbow flatuating, Pony of DOOM.

I like this thread. A nice positive thread about ingame additions. Nice change of pace.
-
Quote:If I want "interesting content" I'd run the story arcs, not a sewer team/radio missions. I don't think you can have it both ways in the low levels...the pace of leveling up is just too quick.Exactly my point. If this were interesting content, you'd not be raving about how fast you got PAST it, but what you experienced doing it.
EDIT: Sorry for the double post. -

Quote:I joined a 6 player sewer team over the weekend and it took me less than one hour to hit level 5 once I hit atlas park after making my character and I didn't even do the tutorial.I may be the odd person out here, but I don't really consider sewer teams to be a noticeable improvement over AE farms. I don't consider either to be a valuable location to spend your early levels on.
But then, my view has been for a while that the low-level game is in dire need of improvements (both where game mechanics and content are concerned).
I find the sewers to be perfect for getting to level 5 and then hitting KR for radio missions and temp travel powers.
By level 8, I have my raptor pack and it's only been maybe 2, 2.5 hours tops (teaming). I'm happy with that pace.
