There's been several complaints of "but what if I'm on a character that can't take out the ghost fast enough?" Don't take them on. Get the zone badge, save the bank and get the hell out of there. Why subject yourself to more annoyance than you have to?
Ah, but PPD defeats are required if you want a certain Accolade; Force of Nature. 1000 PPD to be exact.

    An Idea

    Hmmmm...

    How about:

    DM/DA

    SM/Elec

    Elec/Stone

    Axe/Shield

    Mace/Fire

    Fire/SR

    SS/INV

    Claws/EA

    EM/WP

I went off memory but I think I got them all.

I'm pretty sure he was serious. Frosticus is very distrusting of the developers in this game.

  7. I hope Issue 17 involves content about the Coming Storm as Lady suggested.

    Ss / sr ?

I didn't mean to suggest Rage wasn't factored in but I don't think Castle is happy with Rage's current implementation and crash. Only time will tell.

Back when Castle was looking at Rage there was discussion about removing the -def portion and replacing it with something that hit all secondaries equally (-def is terrible for a set like SR but meh to Elec).

However, Castle ran out of time to find an acceptable solution and left Rage "as-is" knowing full well about the ability to cancel out the -def with stacking Rage. I believe this is his current work around to allow defensive sets to still use SS without being horribly gimp at times.

On the other hand...Castle did say he would re-visit Rage at a later date. <gulp>
  10. Wow, excellent information. Thanks!

  12. I feel like a noob asking this question since I've been playing for nearly 3.5 years but...

What baseline do powers like DP/HF use when you activate them? Do they use the Base HP for the AT, the character's current HP, or the characters max HP which includes +HP accolades?

    Examples always help...hypothetical of course.

I have a Claws/Inv Brute. Dull Pain provides +50% HP to the brute upon activation. The Brute's base HP is 1500, current HP is 1800 (due ot being in battle) and max HP with accolades is 2000 HP.

What is the Brute's HP after activating DP in this example?

    Please be gentle.
  13. I would be surprised if GR didn't offer some type of PvP zone, new mechanic or something. A new PvP zone or two seems most logical but I have to wonder if Castle and his minions have something else to offer since they've been hard at work (and pretty quiet) for sometime after the current PvP system was implemented.

I like this game and want to see it grow, so I support any change that would bring in new players and have old/vets return...yes, even you lolpvp-ers.

    Ss / sr ?

I tried one into the teens but gre tired of Superstrength since I already had 3 other SS brutes. Your main concern will be getting Rage to double stack so to avoid the -defense portion of the crash. Otherwise your survivability will plummted when Rage does crash.

SR on villain side can be made into a beast but before then you'll struggle a bit while leveling. Brutes don't have the benefit of another AT taking the shots in most instances(scrappers have tanks) so the weaknesses in SR, in the low levels, shows up a bit more. However, once you can invest into IOs you'll be able to softcap your brute to melee, ranged, and AoE defense all without having to take Weave, and I think that's a definite bonus.

It can be done with one team... but we need more time.
There is still a host of people that have yet to try out the event. Remember, this event kicked off mid week and the weekend is still upon us. I've done this event about 6 times now and I still have a host fo heroes/villains to take part, and those are my debuffers!

I agree. 3 attempts last time on CoV (freedom), all 3 were successul but I did have to start broadcasting to have everyone fight the same banner since our progress was slow. Once that happened the banners dropped like a prom dress (god, I hope I don't have a daughter).

    Two things:

    1. There's this travel power called "Teleport." Very useful for Stone, look into it.

    2. People still PvP in CoH?

Might as well do this same challenge with blasters, tanks, corruptors, masterminds, dominators, stalkers, VEATs...

EDIT: My point was, it's rather obvious that a defender's goal is not DPS. A kheldian, while not pigeon-holed, is oft portrayed as having the goal of DPS.
How would you rank the DPS of a Scrapper, Tank, Blaster and Kheld?

    Me?

    1. Blaster
    2. Scrapper
    3. Kheldian
    4. Tank

    That seems balanced to me.

Let's find the best scrapper/brute player out there. Someone with the inf to purple out a character. He also has to be indisputably proficient with his powers, knowledgeable about how to use them most effectively, familiar with the best attack chains, etc. For this I nominate Bill Z Bubba.

Then we need to find the best warshade out there. Perhaps the best two, one all-human and one shifter. Same stipulations as the scrapper/brute case. I'm not sure who'd be best here, but I'd imagine AlienOne could fill the all human warshade case and either Princess or LordXenite for the TriForm.

Finally, we have to find the best two peacebringers, one all-human and one TriForm.

Now we get them all into an AE arc two at a time. Five missions set at +0x8 with normal spawns, all in the same outdoor city map. You know the one I'm talking about; I don't know its name. You can have the scrapper/brute run down one lane and the kheldian down the other, killing everything along the way. Referees should be present to record time. First mission against council, then freaks, then CoT, then Carnies, then Malta. Compare the times and we'll get a practical comparison of how much DPS a kheldian can pump out.
Why not a defender or controller, what about their DPS?

His toons, in all their badly-slotted-wrong-powers-picked glory, are extremely fun for him, but that doesn't mean they should be compared to other ATs/Builds on any objective quantifiable basis.
Yet he manages to play the game just the same and enjoy the $15 a month. So who is right? Those that follow the holy orange numbers of DPS or those that follow the subjective fun?

Everything we do must somehow contribute to this complex DPS equation or else we're not effective.
I agree and Khelds are able to..."debuffing opponent's defenses," "tanking so that teammates can stay alive long enough so that their DPS will defeat the foe," "Locking down while other's damage them..."

Not to mention Khelds themselve add to this mysthical team's DPS in many forms and variations.

That means we have to consider their effectiveness as generalists.

So, does a Kheld's overall 'generalist' contribution compare to a team's damage generating effectiveness on a level approaching the more Niche ATs? I don't really know, although I tend to think Khelds fall a bit short. If it's really true, that they do not, then we might as well be honest about it; Khelds need some more work done to them.
This is what I don't understand, people pigeon-holing Khelds as a DPS AT. They can be a DPS AT if built that way, or they can be a tank/scrapper hybrid, etc. Kheld's gift is not being stuck into some DPS class, healing class or tanking class myopic MMO players are use to...but it seems this gift is also their curse.
