Had I been on the team it would have been me who said "Don't make me turn this TF around!"
I like newbs most of the time, but they do get annoying occasionally. That kid sounds like he would have amused me somewhat. -
Am I the only person that thinks the animation for Typhoon's Edge looks ridiculous?
-
I'm going DP/Kin corruptor.
Damage and recharge buffs by level 10, both on somewhat long recharges so I don't have to constantly spam them. Siphon Speed, IR, and Ninja Run all combine to make a travel power completely redundant. In the late game I won't ever have end problems. And it has a PBAoE nuke (which is crashless?) that I can make awesome with Fulcrum Shift.
If I need to hit Transfusion I'm okay with the redraw in order to keep me alive.
I'll probably make a blaster too, but I have no idea what secondary I'll be taking yet. -

Quote:Depends on the build.I try and get a kismet +acc early on for my character which is great for the leveling.
How much is this needed after you IO your build?
Does anyone slot the kismet and take Focused Accuracy?
Will I be good with just FA post level 40?
My claws/regen doesn't need it at all, because he has more than enough endurance to run FA.
My BS/DA needs it desperately, running FA isn't even an option for him. He's just barely this side of end sustainable as it is running 9 toggles. One more would break him.
If you find that you are ok with just FA then you don't need it. It's really a question no one but you can answer, since you are more familiar with your builds than anyone else.
Too many variables to give a definite yes or no.
Are you going to be fighting uplevel? Do you have a lot of defense debuffs in your primary? Does your IO slotting give you a lot of accuracy? All these questions will have different answers depending on the character, and all must be considered when answering whether or not you need that particular IO. -
I know who ya mean Schis. I stuck up for ya though!
(I don't like him either, but he's fun to mess with) -
Quote:The idea of someone who has never played the game being able to buy a tricked out level 50 without ever having run a single mission does not sit well with me at all.Hello, RMT wet dream come true. Custom made characters, just tell us what you want and we'll build it for you and transfer it over... for a small fee.
AE babies were bad, this would be even worse. Imagine being teamed with someone on an STF or RSF and finding out that the first mission of the TF is the first one they ever ran. Especially if they are filling an important role, like, say, a tank on the STF. Just a little helpful if you know what you're doing in that situation. -
I still want to take Flurry with one of my DMs and chain all 3 together.
Absolute crap DPS, but it'll be funny as hell to punch something in the face 24 times in a row. -
Elude is nice if you happen to be unlucky and get tagged by a Sapper. Pop a blue, hit Elude and you have plenty of time to get out of the situation before the crash hits. It's also a huge recovery buff for 2 minutes a well, people tend to forget about that a lot.
Or if you decide you want to wander into a PvP zone. Elude is about the only thing that lets an SR survive against all those ranged attackers with ridiculous amounts of accuracy.
I'd say if you're not concerned about vertical movement go ahead and keep it. -

Quote:I was on an ITF with Cold Shields on and inside a Dispersion bubble, I was WELL beyond the softcap (75% to all), he got lucky and slipped one through. You will be hit 5% of the time no matter HOW high your defense is.ClawsandEffect that is because your defense is very low.
I would guess you do not have CJ / tough / weave / defense IO sets?
I have all of the things you mentioned and it didn't matter. I would have needed better resistance to both smashing and energy to survive that attack, my 25% to smashing damage didn't really help. -
Simple comparison for you here. (I like analogies)
Broadsword = A meat cleaver
Katana = A carving knife
Claws = A cuisinart
Yes, the individual numbers on claws attacks are low in comparison, but with only moderate recharge slotting, you can keep a nonstop rain of damage going indefinitely*
(*Or until the target is dead, whichever comes first)
I skip Strike because it has a split second pause that drives me nuts, Swipe is much smoother.
Quote:Are you actually serious about this?! The mouthiest, smuggest, most arrogant person I know of on the forums calling someone else out on it? I'm not sure if I'd call this irony or hypocrisy. I suppose it depends on whether or not you are actually aware of your personality traits. People aren't griefing you with all the neg repping....you have earned every bit of it.You need to take a leason in NOT being mouthy and smug.
And I can guarantee this will NEVER happen. The devs are trying to get rid of RMTers, not give them a way to make even more money. This would just ensure that RMTers will never leave the game. You could email them a build, they would level a character to 50 and slot whatever you want in the powers, then sell it to you for a ridiculous sum. And lazy people all over the place would jump all over it. This is a HORRIBLE idea. If you want a 50, level it yourself.Quote:I seriously hope the Devs come up with a way to transfer characters from 1 account to another. -
Quote:While that is true, some 60% of the attacks in the game have a smashing or lethal component. The most common ranged attack in the game by far is machine gun fire, which is pure lethal damage. Most melee attacks have a smashing or lethal component, with a few exceptions. And the exceptions are mostly player powers, I can't think of too many NPCs that are going to hit you with Mind Probe, and only a couple have Scorch.Ranged defense allows you dodge all ranged attacks. (just like Melee allows you to dodge all melee attacks and AOE allows *you get the picture) whether its smashing, lethal, fire cold, psi, toxic whatever. You can dodge anything but special damage such as hamidon damage. While smashing, lethal etc defense is blocking and allows you to only block that type of damage. I find it often times to be easier to slot for ranged defense on blasters and smarter.
Energy melee attacks are all part smashing, electric melee is part smashing except for a couple powers. Fire Sword (which is fairly common actually) is part lethal. Obviously smash/lethal covers your basic punch and knife or sword attacks as well.
Smashing and lethal defense actually gives you more protection that is readily apparent, since it covers any attack that has a smashing or lethal component, even if it includes another damage type. -
Quote:Well, the way you said it originally, it sounded like you were saying that NO Dark Armor scrapper could softcap, which isn't true. Had you said "On a spines scrapper I know you can't", I would have agreed, as I have never seen a build that does it. All you said was "a scrapper" which implies that no scrapper can do it. My build is not the norm, and I never said that it was. It is a Dark Armor scrapper that is softcapped, which your original statement says couldn't be done.Well not quite. My bad for not explaining that he woudln't have to be LOCKED into a very specific build to do it, When we didn't get a distinction of what primary. That's just like saying you cant get 700% regeneration on a SR, then adding later that "oh, did i mention I'm dark melee with slotted siphon life"
It doesn't work like that. When someone is asking something general, you can't pick a very specific situation and go with that as the norm.
Softcap is defined as having 45% or higher defense. How you got there is irrelevant. If you pop a bunch of purples, you are softcapped for the duration of the inspirations. So, the fact that I use Parry to softcap melee defense has no bearing on whether or not I am softcapped. Saying that sotcapping with Parry doesn't count is like saying that perma Hasten isn't perma because you have to click the power again.
And actually, you can't get 700% regen on an SR. Siphon Life is simply a self heal, it does nothing to increase regeneration. If you said "I can heal such and such amount of HP per second" because of Siphon Life, it would be true, since you can average it out to come up with a number. But.....that doesn't qualify as regeneration as the term is commonly used.
I apologize if my previous post was heavy on the snark. I was a little annoyed by being told that a build I spent a lot of time and influence on doesn't count as softcapped because I use Parry to get there. -
Scrapping without Combat Jumping is like driving a car with no spoiler. Sure. it may not look as cool, and perhaps loses a little bit of downforce, but it will still get you where you're going.
(Sorry, best analogy I could think of) -
-
Dr. Aeon can one-shot a regen through Dull Pain with his Energy Transfer. I checked my combat log and he hit me for more than scrapper HP cap. Something like 2800 or so. The only saving grace there is you're probably not going to be soloing him. Aeon hits like a friggin' truck.

Quote:Look at the second build I posted in that thread.Again, that is not softcapping. For one, ranged isn't fully there, on a tiny note neither is aoe. Two, that's ONLY because of parry/divine avalanche, you can't consider those when someone is mentioning a general "softcapping" unless they are explicitly asking about techniques on doing so for a BS/Katana user.
And remember to turn Combat Jumping on.
I know for an absolute fact that it IS softcapped, because it is on my live character.
And another thing: Since Parry is part of my attack chain, any time I am in melee to be attacked from that position, I am softcapped to it. If I am not in melee with anything in order to stack Parry, I obviously have no need to have defense to it.
Ranged is at 45.17% on live, and AoE is at 44.9%. Sure you could quibble that AoE is .1% away from being softcapped, but I have NEVER seen a situation where .1% was the difference between being hit and not being hit. I'm sure it's happened, but I've never seen it.
All you said was "On a scrapper I know you can't", referring to Dark Armor softcapping. You never said anything about conditions or primary. As far as your original statement is concerned, my build proves it wrong. You made a blanket statement and it was debunked.
You can debate semantics all day, and it won't change anything. I proved you wrong, and you changed your argument to say that because I used Parry to achieve it, it doesn't count. -
Quote:The Nem staff is a single target KB on a fairly long recharge.Just an aside: Energy Blasters seem to get all the KB hate; but every Tom, Dick, and Harry is using the Nemi staff KB attacks all the time and no one ever complains about that. If someone complains about your KB give 'em hell when they grab the Nemi staff, all's fair.
KB is 100% mitigation. So what if the scrapper has to move to finish defeating a mob, that's what scrappers do. If they don't like chasing mobs use the Nemi Staff
How come no one complains when a mob runs away? Is it the controllers fault? The Tank not taunting it back? Does the Tanks/Scrappers damage aura cause scatter?
It' a viable game mechanic that helps a blaster/defender survive.
Energy Blast has 2 AoE KB powers, most of the time it's those powers that are getting the hate.
Damage auras generally don't cause scatter. In the tank's case, their damage aura is usually their taunt aura too, so if anything it prevents scatter. Scrapper auras don't have the taunt component, but generally if nothing else is piling on a lot of damage they'll focus their hate on the scrapper.
AFAIK the only damage aura that causes scatter is Hot Feet. -
Claws for scrappers is the same way. I REALLY wish I could change the power effect colors on Focus and Shockwave. They are default white and uncolorable, I'd like to be able to color them to match the color of my Talsorian claws, since my scrapper uses energy technology for his claws.

Oh noes! We can't farm any more?! DOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!
(Disclaimer: the beginning of this post was completely in jest, tongue planted firmly in cheek)
So people are loudly proclaiming that it's unfair that the devs removed their ability to basically cheat at the game? Which is what an exploit technically is.
That's like complaining that you got kicked out of a casino for having a pocketful of aces at the blackjack table.
In other words...completely ludicrous. -
See, I make my builds as efficient as possible, not because I feel the need to have the most awesome character that ever lived, but because I like being able to go do the most reckless stuff imaginable and live through it
Had a fun PuG a while back, looking forward to a few PuGs with my soon to be created DP/Pain corruptor. -
