  2. Odd.

Out of the 6 TFC TFs, Sister Psyche is my favorite. I just like killing Freakshow.

Now if I can just talk a team into a kill all so I can get some levels on my tank......

.....probably not gonna happen, because everyone is going to speed run it for the Notice.

Oh well, maybe I'll just form my own, specifically inviting non-50s who want the bonus merits and half a lavel of XP that we get at the end.
  3. My stance on it is about 50/50.

Sometimes I like a speed run if my playtime for the day is limited and I really want to run that TF for whatever reason.

The vast majority of the time I like to slaughter everything that steps up in front of me. Because at the end of the day that's still why I REALLY play the game.

Rewards be damned, I'm here to kill $#!@.
  4. If you take Char you can contribute against the mitos in the LGTF.
  5. I have a problem playing "support" characters. To date, I have ONE defender above level 30, and he's my Rad/Sonic big game hunter. Still haven't gotten a Controller or a Tank past level 40.

I tend to stick with Scrappers, Blasters, and Brutes the easiest. There's just something about getting in the thick of things and smashing face that is cathartic after an annoying day at work.

Try a scrapper or a brute. In your OP you mentioned "Tank/Brute". The way you phrased that leads me to think you believe they play identically (or at least similarly), and nothing could be further from the truth.
  6. No matter when they do the downtime, they are going to be inconveniencing SOMEONE.

If they adjust the timing so YOU can play, that means it is almost guaranteed to screw someone else out of THEIR playtime. So, to make things easier, they schedule it for the time the IT guys are first showing up for work (probably). I know some of the servers are physically located in Virginia, so maybe they are splitting the difference so they don't have to make people come it at too strange of an hour to do it.

I have sent many PMs to devs and got no response. They are busy, and don't have time to respond to every single PM that hits their in-box. You and I receive a PM every so often, rarely more than a few in a week. The devs get hundreds every day. Responding to all of them would take up the majority of their work day, and I, for one, would rather have them working on the game than firing off 400 PM responses.

The few times I DID get a response from one of them, it was very seldom more than a couple sentences, sometimes not even that much. I once got a reply from Castle that consisted of "Not gonna happen", and that was the entirety of it.

Don't take it personally that they didn't respond.

If you're planning on delving into IOs on that character you won't need Hasten at all. Willpower has ONE power that recharge even affects, and if you need that one back faster you have bigger problems than recharge (it's the rez)

I've found that with just IOs slotted, giving me about 53% global recharge bonuses, I can run a chain of Follow Up, Eviscerate, Spin, Repeat. (this is with a Claws/Regen scrapper though, so you might need a little more recharge for a brute)

In the meantime, go ahead and slot a recharge or two into Spin.
  8. Try to fit Invisibility into the build.

There's a trick I used to use with my FIre/Fire blaster that will work for you too (maybe better with HoB)

Invisibility grants "Only Affecting Self" status, which means that, while your toggles remain on, they will not affect enemies. That lets you position yourself in the middle of a mob and drop Invisibility. They will immediately start scattering due to Hot Feet, and you can us FSC and HoB while they are panicking. Drop a Burn Patch and go to town.

    Yes and no.

Electric Blast doesn't get a hard hitting 3rd blast (like Shout, Blaze, Cosmic Burst, Power Burst etc.), but it's tier 1 and tier 2 attacks hit harder than other blaster tier 1 and 2 blasts to compensate.

If you only have one target Voltaic Sentinel's damage is actually very nice. It is basically 10 Charged Bolts that are independent of anything else you may be doing and that you have already paid the end for. Unfortunately, if you have MORE than one target, Sparky seems to waste his shots a lot.

Ball Lightning is DoT instead of a big hit all at once. It is actually more or less on par with other targeted AoEs, but it doesn't seem like it because of the DoT.

Electric trades it's heavy hitter (or more AoE) for Short Circuit, which is the main part of the draining gimmick. The downside, that you've already discovered, is that Short Circuit by itself isn't that great. In order to be effective at draining you need to have either Energy or Electric as your secondary so you have a power to use with Short Circuit (Power Boost and Power Sink respectively)

The best drainer out of Hero ATs is a Kinetics/Electric defender, because you get Short Circuit and Transference out of your primary and secondary, and if you go with the Electric APP you get access to Power Sink as well.

Actually, an Electric/Kin controller is probably just as good at it, but you'd need to go villain to pick up Mu Mastery for Power Sink (since Electric isn't available as an APP for controllers)

I've heard that Electric/Thermal corruptors make good drainers too, but I've never played one, so I can't verify that personally.

2.) The stalker was the only one who died, and repeatedly.

This made me want to make a stalker about as much as it made me not. Neither of those observations was true of the scrappers on the team, they kill +2-3 bosses as slowly or slower than my blaster, but they do live the entire mission.
Weird, my Dark Melee/Ninjitsu stalker once tanked a GM for more than 5 minutes, simply because I hadn't noticed that no one else jumped in with me. And that was at level 42 with little or no IOs slotted.

I didn't die until I stopped to ask the team why they were just standing there looking at me. My response was along the lines of: How are you still alive? (Ironically followed by my death)

I've never had any undue problems staying alive on a stalker, or finding teams when I'm playing one. I tend to avoid the people who have proven themselves to be build nazis in the past, so AT dislike is almost never a factor.

    Miles vary I guess.

Yes, AS does BIG damage but at the cost of several conditions:
    1. Loss of important pbaoe like Spin, Whirling Sword. etc. The only set that doesn't suffer this is Electricity Melee because only Hand Clap is taken out. Oh and Quill doesn't work well on Stalker.

    2. 4s set up time and sometimes when there is lag or when you stand up on a hill, you may get interrupted. I know I've clicked twice and lost like 15 end x 2. (endurance cost needs to be adjusted IMO) 4s set up time also means that if you miss your first AS, you lose a lot of damage potential during Build Up. I also think AS should be auto-hit in PvE.

Now the argument is that "nobody told you that you must use Assassin Strike!". This argument would only work if Assassin Strike isn't part of the Primary power and that Stalker didn't lose aoe attack for it. Sure, I sometimes don't use Assassin Strike at all when I am on a large team but this just means I am not using an AT-defining power that forces this AT to have less aoe and less survival. With the way Assassin Strike is now, the game is just a bit too fast pace for it. I do feel Assassin Strike feels great at low level when others can't do what Stalker can and that's about it. AS doesn't scale well with difficulty.

In my experience, the above is only a valid argument when you have team leaders that consider you useless unless you are pumping out hundreds of points of AoE damage in every spawn. In other words: dicks.

I've simplified the whole "AT Role" down to 2 things: 1)keeping us alive, and 2)making them dead. As long as you are actively doing at least one of those two things you are welcome on my team.

It doesn't matter if you are making lots of things dead, or making one thing REALLY dead, the making dead part is all I care about. As long as I occasionally see "Your Name has defeated Enemy Name" in my window, you are welcome to stay on my team as long as you like. Or alternately, if your presence makes it easier for other people's names to appear in my window like that, you are welcome then too.

As far as I know, you can go to the complete opposite alignment and remain in your SG/VG, you just can't do anything with it (no taking from storage, can't use the porters, etc.)

I haven't tried as a vigilante or rogue, so I can't confirm one way or the other on that.

They tried that. It's called Elusivity, and it was unbelievably overpowered when they first implemented it. For about 6-8 months it was damn near impossible to hit a defense based character (hence why Widows were so popular in PvP for a while)

Then they realized how broken it made defense based characters and adjusted it. End result: Defense is a little bit better than it used to be, but still doesn't do much good because everyone slots for extra accuracy in PvP anyway.

Stalker or Scrapper on your team?
    Don't care.

You're here to kill things, can you do that?

    You can?

    You're in.

All I usually require in a teammate is a player that's not a complete idiot. Very seldom will I ever look for a teammate with a specific AT or powerset. Even when I do it's usually more like "something that can control agro" or "some kind of debuffs" than "I need a Stone tank" or "I need a Rad"

If you want to play a stalker on my team, understand that your job is to KILL STUFF. Your job is NOT to "scout ahead". We don't need to know what's ahead of us, because we already know what's ahead of us: Stuff to kill.
  18. I always wondered why someone would be driven to attack a guy who said "Aaaaaaaaah!" at them. I don't consider that noise particularly threatening, but apparently in the CoH universe making a noise as though you just realized something is considered a deadly insult.
  19. I remember Castle saying at one point that any new blaster secondaries would follow the pattern of Mental Manipulation, with more emphasis on utility powers and less on melee attacks.

However, I don't know if that still holds true now that Castle is no longer working for Paragon Studios. I'm going to assume it does until I hear otherwise from Black Scorpion or Synapse (the powers guys)
  20. Okay, say you have 30% melee, and 25% lethal defense.

If a mob fires an attack that is tagged melee/lethal, your melee defense will apply because it is the better of the two.

But, if a mob fires an attack tagged ranged/lethal, your lethal defense will apply.

If a mob fires an attack that is tagged ranged/energy, it will have the full chance to hit because you have no defense that will apply to it.

Yeah, by what you asked I decided to suggest the cheapest possibility that doesn't lock you into a particular APP or power pool. Since Hand Clap is already in your secondary it doesn't force you to use a pool you may not otherwise like.

You could put the Hold set in KO Blow too, but that would gimp the power quite a bit, and it's more expensive than Absolute Amazement.

Alternately, if you don't want to take Hand Clap, I believe Jab will accept Absolute Amazement as well. or Boxing will if you have the Fighting pool already. There are options all over SS for that set.

This concern stems more from the fact that there are a number of emotes that can appear sexual, and that you can make them say anything you want. You can also, through costume color/skin color choices, make a character appear to be naked.

The time between allowing pet customization and someone breaking the Teen rating of the game would be extremely short.

The real problem is that it does indeed involve specific character models that the game looks up when you summon them, very similar to how Granite and Kheldian shapeshifting works (you can't customize them either)

So, the second part is the problem they have, and the first part is why they aren't looking into solving that problem.

    Any suggestions?
    Absolute Amazement in Hand Clap.

Probably going to be your cheapest option without getting ridiculous about it.
  24. Thunderstrike is fairly cheap. Buy it as recipes and they shouldn't cost you more than a couple hundred thousand each. Also, look at levels other than level 50, they are frequently much cheaper at lower levels.
  25. Anyone else find it amusing that the people who were saying they don't want this game to turn into an endless grinding raidfest, where no one ever wants to do anything below the level cap........are some of the same people who are now opposing lower level TFs being added into the WST cycle?

There are quite a few people in the game who don't even have ONE level 50 character. They should just be ignored here so you can keep grinding shards on your 36 level 50s?

    1) If they only made level 50 TFs eligible for the WST, those 4 TFs would get old quick. Or, rather even older, since they've all been around a while.

    2) If only level 50 TFs were ever WSTs it would be next to impossible for someone running a level 30 character to generate any interest in a low level TF, because end game is what you do.

    3) I suspect that the WST was going to happen anyway, and the Notice being available was an afterthought, because the Rare and Very Rare were ready, but the Trials meant to award it weren't yet.

I also don't really think the Incarnate system was really designed with the casual player in mind. Sure, they can do it if they want, but it really seems more like the devs' response to the people who have been complaining that there was nothing to do once you got to 50 for several years now. Most casual players don't actually play enough to get bored with it that quickly.
