We killed the Portals! We killed the other mobs! We take on Marauder and DIE. What the ruddy hell do you suggest, oh font of all bleeding wisdom?
I guess throwing a fit and ragequitting game is the only option left to you then.

If you're THIS pissed about it, why waste your time on it anymore?

You clearly feel the devs have destroyed the entire game in one issue. The only logical course of action left for you is to stop giving them your money.

Or you can keep paying for something you seem to hate now and make a donkey of yourself on the forums.

Or, you can wait until after the first freaking day of the new stuff when people might have figured out how this thing works and try it again.

Guess we found the game killer here. Make something that is difficult enough that people can't blindly button mash through it, and you'll have droves of people rage-quitting because their easy mode got taken away.

    Yeah... whatever happened to that?

    That's old hat now.

This is the NEW too hard/badly designed/impossible to beat thing that everyone is going to rage against.

Just like Apex and Tin Mage were the too hard/badly designed/impossible to beat thing from LAST issue.

Keep up with the times man! You can't go bringing up things from the past that seem absurd now just to point out how everyone is jumping to conclusions, because they are RIGHT, dammit! And they will throw every argument in the book at you to prove it, whether that argument makes any sense or not.

It's going to be highly amusing 6 months to a year from now when I dig up some of these threads to point out how hard everyone thought these things were. And everyone's going to tell me how easy the trials are and how hard the NEW thing is compared to it.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.

Never mind. Clearly this is different than all the other things that were declared impossible, too hard, or badly designed. Never mind that when all those things were released they were different than the previous too hard/badly designed thing too.

Carry on with the doomrage. Don't try and figure out the new tactics that will work with the new stuff, because we should be able to use the exact same tactics for everything. Anything else is bad design.

Silly me for not seeing how incredibly logical that is.
  4. Wow, it's been live for one day and people are already declaring it to be too hard and an example of bad design.

    Reminds me very much of:

    ITF
    STF
    LRSF
    Kahn
    Barracuda
    Hamidon
    Ship Raids
    Apex
    Tin Mage

    Did I miss any?

Every single one of those things were declared "too hard" and "badly designed" when they were first released, because PuG groups couldn't just mash buttons and complete it in a half hour.

It has been ONE DAY people. Is it not the slightest bit possible that maybe there is a learning curve to it? No, can't be, it's GOT to be bad design, that's the only possible answer.

Now, if it's around for a year and people are still having the same amount of problems with it, maybe then I'll concede there are enough flaws to constitute "bad design". After only one day though, I'll treat the knee jerk reactions to it with the credulity they deserve.

For the record, I tried and failed a Lambda Sector in the little bit of time I had to play. And I saw what we did wrong right away. It wasn't a case of it being badly designed, we just plain screwed up.

Since when are AE farms "The game"?

AE farms are an aberration that was never intended to exist in the game, it is not even CLOSE to being "the game".

Play your Controller like a Controller and not like a mobile damage aura and maybe you'll have better luck.

It falls to you to adapt to how the game changes over the years. Expecting the game to adapt to your preferred way of playing is (for lack of a better description) bat guano stupid.

    Good luck.

You can't buy one for any less than 2 billion influence, and since there are so many bids placed and so few that actually hit the market you will be waiting for a LONG time even after you build up the influence.

You have 2 options to get one within the next couple months:

    A) Find one OFF the market you can buy from someone (this will cost you MORE than 2 billion, in all likelyhood). Your odds of finding one you can afford are probably pretty slim if you haven't already been farming influence or playing the market.

    B) Run Tip missions and hoard your Alignment merits. You can buy one direct from the A merit box in Fort Trident/The Crucible. It will cost you a crap ton (30 or more A merits) but it's guaranteed to get you what you want.

In my opinion, 3% additional defense is not worth going through all that crap to get, but if it's worth it to you there are ways you can get it. That particular IO is kind of like having a solid gold toilet in your house, doesn't really do much but give you bragging rights for having it.
  7. Yeah, I've known for a while that going past tier 3 on the Alpha and past tier 2 or so on the rest is roughly the same as getting purple sets for a character that does't really need them.

Sure, maybe they're cool to have, and you can say "Look what I got!". But, do you really NEED them? No, they don't really add that much more on top of the lower tiers.

I only plan on going tier 4 Alpha with my main (because 2/3rds of 45% recharge being unaffected by ED is just gravy for a Regen), and I have no idea how far I will go with the next 4 slots, but it probably won't be very far.

I still think it's funny as hell how so many people are approaching this from the viewpoint that you are gimped if you don't have the tier 4 on every slot filled on every level 50 you have.

You don't need that stuff any more than you need purples and PvP IOs filling every build.
  8. People on Pinnacle seem to run the WST from Tuesday when it starts through about Friday, then it's back to business as usual by the weekend (most of the time)

Good luck finding anything else to do for the next couple weeks, from what I understand I20 is going live either today or next Tuesday.

Can you imagine the fallout if they did a double XP weekend with zero warning whatsoever?

Thousands of people who don't normally play on the weekends for whatever reason would be raging up a storm that they missed out on a double XP weekend because there was no advance warning to tell them about it.

You thought people were annoyed about the Halloween event? Make them miss double XP and see what happens on the forums. There's a reason they announce double XP weekends at least 3-4 weeks in advance: to prevent the raging of customers who missed it because they didn't receive enough advance warning about it.

It's the original animation for Swipe, and it's STILL the animation for Barb Swipe in the Spines set.

And I'd really rather that not end up back in the set. It is one of the most bat guano stupid looking animations in the game and I breathed a sigh of relief when Claws saw the end of it.

    RESPEC Junkies

I've respecced my main probably 30 times at this point.

Respecced others a max of 15 times. I don't use multiple builds because I don't really want to spend the cash on multiple IO sets that are repeated across the builds.

I'm happy with my main for the moment, and only have 2 more respecs planned for now. I plan on switching my BS/DA scrapper from Oppressive Gloom to Cloak of Fear now that I have the Cardiac Rare slotted. And I plan on switching my Fire/Fire blaster to Mace Mastery once I finish taking him villainside. (worked out a build that softcaps S/L/E while still retaining the majority of his damage output and has over 200% regen)

    I disagree.

Rad has no real means of keeping things within range of that -tohit toggle. If somethig runs out of range and fires a mez at you, there go all your toggles. Sure, defense will help, but there's always a chance to be hit, which always seems to happen at the worst possible time.

Siren's Song is basically just another layer of mitigation. If they're sleeping, they aren't attacking, if they aren't attacking the chance of being mezzed is 0%, if the chance of being mezzed is 0% your chances of survival increases.

Siren's Song on top of everything Rad is already good at is just icing on the cake.

    SOs and SFs

Haven't personally seen someone rejected and subsequently ridiculed for not having enough set bonuses.

Maybe I'm just good at avoiding teams full of jacktards though, because I have no doubt there are people out there who would engage in such behavior.
  14. Wow, I appear to have missed an amusing hissy fit by deciding I didn't care to come back to this thread a couple days ago.
  15. Not sure if anyone else realizes this, but if your character has the Alpha slot unlocked......the zombies in the zone invasion drop Incarnate Shards, at what appears to be a slightly elevated rate (I got 4 in about 10 minutes of fighting them with 2 other people)

Not saying anyone is wrong for not finding something fun.

I'm just saying, the devs screwed up and acknowledged it, so they did something they thought would be nice as a form of apology.

And people got bent out of shape that they had the audacity to apologize for something.

If they hadn't fixed it, or left the extra long downtime unaddressed, people would have been pissed about that too.

I guess they just can't win.

  18. Stupefy has the same 6.25% recharge bonus as Decimation for the same number of slots, and it actually enhances what you want to enhance in Screech. I would use that set instead. (It's cheaper too)

Edit: Totally overlooked the fact that you skipped Siren's Song.

You skipped the single most useful power to a soloing Defender in the game. I'm not even sure what to say about that.

    Keybind Help

    Would "/bind z targetcustomnextfriend$$powexecname_Speed Boost" possibly work?

I know there's a way to set up a bind that will tab through allies like you can enemies, and if my bind here actually works you wouldn't be limited to only teammates (so you could speed boost nearby people in raid events without having to be on their team)
  20. You're all absolutely right.

Next time when the devs have to do a lengthy downtime to fix an accidental server rollback, they should just either A) Not fix the server rollback and let their players deal with losing stuff they gained the previous day, or B) tell them to suck it when they're upset about losing a whole day of playtime.

Yes, those would be MUCH better ways of handling it than giving us a weekend of an event normally only available to do 2 weeks a year as an apology.

Damn Americans always get the best stuff
That's the only server status page I've ever seen. I assumed they were the same for both NA and EU servers.

They should be the same for both, and I imagine they probably will be after the server list merge.

As per Castle's response when I PMed him with a somewhat similar idea:

It's possible to do, but it eats up so many CPU cycles that it would make everyone around you lag while the CPU resolves what's happening while you're being attacked. And thus is not something they would allow a player character to have.

Not semantics so much as we use different words for the same thing.

What some here have termed "respect", I call "common courtesy". Which is the general behavior of treating people with courtesy, politeness and consideration.

Respect, to me, is something different. Respect, to me, entails something else. It's a little harder to explain, but Memphis Bill came pretty close on it.

I will ask Werner, Iggy Kamakaze, or a few other people for advice on building a scrapper, because they have proven over the years that they are knowledgeable about such things, and have thus earned my respect.

However, I will not ask some random player in the game for advice on building said scrapper, because I have no way of knowing if they have any clue about what they are talking about. Thus they have NOT earned my respect.

    That make more sense?

  25. I'm expecting at least a few new pieces with i20.

It is a rare issue where we don't get at least a couple new costume pieces.

I don't, however, necessarily expect them to tell us about them too far in advance though.
