I think that the true reason that farms are discouraged is because NCSoft is afraid that the end game content isn't interesting enough to keep people playing. Farms aren't bad for the game unless there is nothing to do after you hit max level. That is the true reason why this game will die when Champions Online comes out. This makes me sad because I truly enjoy this game. I actually like to play some of my level 50 toons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You forget that unlike some other MMOs, here the game starts at level 1. It's a different mind set that some people just don't catch onto. And I rather doubt any one toon has done everything by the time they hit 50, seeing how it's so easy to outlevel contacts and so on.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
the ranged attacks need to be toned down in damage, as do the rest of the attacks, minions with 300 damage attacks is a bit much.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This has been discussed elsewhere, and it's something I do sort of agree with. I'd like some way, perhaps a slider control, to tone them down some, if I chose to do so.
  3. Curiosity... satisfied! Thanks guys.

That would be cool to have.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Clave, I think that is the dev's idea.
But it seems that many maps do not work well in term of automated spawning. The devs basically have to place some glowies by hand.

In this case, they know that putting the maps into the MA will generate problems and won't do it before fixing the maps.

Hopefully, they will do just that and get a fixed version of every map in game and put into the MA a few at a time.
    Hopefully.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's pretty much my guess as well. But I want them NOAW!
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Without warning they deleted my costumes and my bio

    [/ QUOTE ]

The warning is in the EULA.

    [ QUOTE ]
and i had sent them tons of petitions before with the toon in question.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that is rather sloppy of them.

    [ QUOTE ]
So i can feel the pain but i went at least ten rounds back and forth and they kept a level head the whole time and they never said anything about deleting a character for a name change. They want to resolve the problem as fast as they can with as little damage to the players playing as possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    (emphasis mine)

Keeping a level head is not just for devs but for players too.

This has been covered on the forums before: if you get generic'ed, you can:
    1) man up and admit you copied and move on with your life
    2) petition the change and explain yourself (again, with a level head and patience). I've heard at least one player here say he got his toon's costume and bio back. Even if you don't and you know for a fact you were not in the wrong, big deal, it's just a game and just one toon. If it does bother you that much, then just stop paying/playing.
    3) scream bloody murder (protip: not a viable option)
  6. I was thinking of adding in a custom boss with the /Nin power set to my upcoming arc because I wanted them to use stealth, but I recall that early on, people were saying the set was quacked because a foe with it got the +crit on every attack they made, stealthed or not.

Has that been fixed? Is it safe?
  7. I'd like to have the Hellforge map from redside. Really, I'd like to have every map that appears in the game, period.
  8. I've read threads about that problem here on the forums that say sometimes they do spawn in the vault, but that it's not something you can count on. I used a bank in my second arc, but have only tested it once since I put that map in for another, and yeah, the spawn placed in "back" didn't show up in the vault.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Maybe in a rare occasion that the audience feels something drags, the director may give a "pick up the energy" feedback to their cast.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's exactly what I got. On my second arc, someone pointed out to me that the second mission was pretty slow because the map was too big. I loved the map for that, but went in and tinkered by switching out maps and found a smaller was much better. The fact that we can go back in an edit, unlike say with a published book, is I think is one of the really strong points of this system.
  10. [ QUOTE ]

Now I am having buyer's remorse.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You need to work on your "ebil".

    1) MA - 100% cool!

    2) Dev handling of problems with it - 100% overreacted to.

I figure there's probably one other important percentage to go here:

    3) Player Base Upset about #2 - .5%

    [/ QUOTE ]

proof? or do you just pull numbers out of your [censored]?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Every number has been scientifically determined by the finest statistical methods available on the internet. Seriously.
  12. This reminds me of when I was a fine arts major. Just about every class had a time when we'd turn in project X and the whole class would post their stuff up and go through them one by one, tossing out whatever opinion they had, offering advice perhaps, asking questions, and so on.

One of the big differences there was you'd get a good idea how people thought based on how they reacted to your work and as the class went on, you'd be able to start judging how "valid" (I know, I know...) their opinion on your work was. That we don't always get here, unless we've been following people who review like Venture. Pretty much it just helps you to develop a thick skin and to not take it personally.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also, a good metric is if the audience didn’t get it, you didn’t say it right. This is not always true, but good to keep in mind. I once wrote a play about quantum mechanics, the math professors who came with the head of the philosophy department of the local community college on opening night loved it, but everyone else thought it needed work. It didn’t, it was for them. I said “Thank you for your review.” I never explained myself to anyone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Something like that. What you say about "you didn't say it right" has some real validity too. I've gotten some hard criticism on my second arc that did show me I didn't express my ideas clear enough for some other people to understand, so I'm making changes.

    Anyways, good post.
  13. Uhm, can someone explain to me what is this "tower defense" you speak of? The thing James_Joyce described sounds sort of interesting.
  14. 1) MA - 100% cool!

  15. These are funny!

I've been focusing on refining my MA arcs and occasionally running one solo, so I haven't been following one thing in the broadcast channel for like weeks.

    It's been pretty peaceful.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

One of the big reasons that Teleport is so unpopular is that it is very high maintenance for a travel power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I finally took TP on a toon and ended up respeccing out of it for build reasons. Within five minutes I swear I was so glad, I was getting really sick of the point-and-click method of travel and didn't know it. I even had it on a /macro to make it faster and it was still too annoying. Maybe a keybind would have been better, but I kind of doubt it.

Now changing it's range to ten yards? No wai!

    Time Bomb

I want them to leave it as it is so I know what to skip when planning my builds - I don't have room for it! :P
  18. [ QUOTE ]
LOL!!!! I cannot wait to see this!!!!!!! I love these cheesy "Direct to Bargain Basement DVD Bin" movies. They're so bad yet are way more enjoyable than the multi-million dollar garbage Hollywood passes off as good cinema eery year. Thanx for the heads-up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. And that CGI looks so bad too.
  19. No idea for the horoscope entry but my first arc is my strongest, not that the second arc is awful, mind you. My first one is:

    Arc ID# 101165
    "Too Many Bunnygirls!"
    by: @Clave Dark 5
Morality: Neutral (leans heroic a bit)
    Length: 3 Missions
Enemy Groups: custom, five bosses total, no AVs or EBs
    26 ratings, 4-star average (last I checked)
    Category: humor, of course
  20. In b4 "The Footsteps Initiative". Sorry, don't know the arc number, but it was funny stuff.

...players that did not pl or use any exploit have gotten 72hr bans and toons deleted.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm officially calling BS on that claim.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously seconded like the fist of the North Star.

Farming is something you have to actively do, it's not a state of 'oops, that was a farm? I didn't know that filling my mish with one specific mob known to be weak and heavy-XP-bearing or my custom-built weaklings and then running it over and over again with 8 man teams could qualify me as a farmer!'

Even if you somehow got banned for something you didn't do, sending a polite 'that wasn't me' email' isn't going to kill anyone; if you didn't do it, there's no evidence.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
You don't follow David Lynch stories. They drag you behind them, kicking and screaming into the darkness. That's not the same thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well I must be on the right path because that's about the way it's going to be. I swear, this one's hard to plan for. My thinking about how it works, what it means, who those custom foes are etc. keeps changing from day to day as I try to get more at the heart of what makes a Lynch film "Lynchian".

I was thinking of making a different arc for lowbie villains, I can probably sit down and do that one in a day, just plug it all in and go, but this one? It may never get done. :P
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I imagine a Stalker would probably benefit from slows and knockdown.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My DB/Nin sure does. The DB set was new when I first ran her to 50 and I didn't know too much about the set, so her build came out very sloppy. But making use of the knock-downs on some of the DB attacks in addition to taking Air Supe and dropping caltrops around like Tinkerbell spreading fair ducts, she was able to do pretty well. I can remember taking down red-con foes without being touched once.

Time for someone to trot out the Invader Zim "Doom song" on YouTube...

The recent events are but a minor roadbump, ED was a "worse" than this will be, and how many years ago now was that?
  25. [ QUOTE ]
I would either remove the oldest one or the one with the lowest ranking.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to be making this choice myself at some point, and hate it! But that advice is probably the best. Or just drop the one you feel compares the weakest to the others.
