I think I've respec'ed maybe three or four toons since I started playing. I'm a casual enough player that sitting down and really working out a build on paper is pretty dull*, so unless I can find one to go by here on the forums (thanks to you helpful, helpful people who post those!), I usually just live with my toon's "imperfections".
*No I haven't bothered to get the hero builder thingy yet and very well may never bother to. -
I do feel OP's pointed out something accurately: the nature of the game, the "feel" has really changed in some ways, in some areas since AE was introduced.
I felt that way too about the introduction of markets and loot. I've learned to live with it, but it diluted the experience of what the game once was to me.
So far I haven't felt that way about AE - in fact I love making arcs and don't have to struggle too much to find something of interest that other players have made - but I can see that for someone else, AE might too feel like a dilution or distraction from what the game was about "in the early days". -
I've been playing my newest MM as of late, but I think I'll take you up on this next time I play an upper level toon; Cap has been getting too spammy anyways (yes, I am on Freedom
). I've always been a fan of RWZ but it's never all that populated anymore - and that needs to change.

So... with side switching... does this mean that villain archetypes will get ancillary power pools? I mean, they cant really have patrons as heros can they? Likewise, does this mean that heroes are getting a set of patron powers?
[/ QUOTE ]
You can have the Power Pool of a different Patron.
And once you learn their powers, becoming good makes you forget them?
[/ QUOTE ]
The Patron pool powers that let you summon an Arachnos pet? How are those going to work with a 'turned good' character? You think Lord Recluse is going to let you continue to be able to summon them?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure.
Every time you're summoning those spiders, they're not coming directly from Lord R signed and sealed with a kiss, they're bots you own and are calling in to help. When you left the Isles, you took them with you to put them to use for "good". -

Given that it's common for some idiot with ice shields to grief people doing costume contests, I think it's reasonable to anticipate there will be some folks who try to use color customization to intentionally annoy others.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll agree with that, but there's nothing stopping everyone at said costume contest from petitioning. I of course don't know for sure how the devs handle such things, but I would think that if 15+ petitions came in with Poogriefer's name on them, he'd get at least a warning email/tell from a mod... right? -
That first post is probably the longest one I have ever seen outside of the guides section. o.o
Anyways - as always, any attention aimed towards the two arcs listed in my sig is greatly appreciated. Both are (supposed to be) funny, story focused and relatively not-too-hard as there are no AVs or EBs in them. The first one is probably the better of the two but the second has been rejiggered a lot based upon player feedback; I'm always open to suggestions as to something that might need work, I'm no diva (but I might disagree with your suggestions, just saying). Both sat at 4 stars last time I was able to check (been out of town for just over a week) with 50 and 26-or-so plays respectively.
If you do check them out, I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I did making them. -
This thread should get stickied. Why you ask?
1) It's a popular topic that's always being restarted when the previous thread gets dropped
2) It's always a hoot to read
3) There's always more to add
4) Everyone can contribute. -

I have a friend of mine whom I've watched become twisted into an avid RP'er (I'll never try to surprise him in his base again) but I don't know any of his friends well enough to ask if I could experience them acting in character.

[Team] Clave Dark 5: . o O; -
I'd be pleased if you could find the time to give my two arcs (see sig) a whirl. The first is probably the stronger of the two, but I've recently done a little rejiggering to the second and would like to see how it fits these days (being out of town on vacation since then probably doesn't help
, but I'll be home tomorrow).
Both have multiple plays, sit at 4 stars last I checked and are not silly-hard (at least from what my own play experience and most feedback). No EBs or AVs in either one too. -

"Lighting by Blizzard Entertainment." I just about always get a chance to say that on PuGs in FL and it always gets a laugh (or the lie of a laugh from kindly players). -
[ QUOTE ]
There are plenty of people of ALL playstyles that can't play their toons well, but when you PUG it you roll the dice, everyone already knows that and most "accept that fact and move on."
[/ QUOTE ]
color added for emphasis
I wish more people accepted that life in an MMO was going to disappoint them sometimes - your favorite power will get nerfed, you will not be able to solo that AV, you won't get a purple drop, people will say stupid things in broadcast, your PuG will have an idiot in it etc etc etc etc etc. You accept it all and move on, why fuss over it? -
What about using the propose emote instead of soapbox? I set up a macro with that on a somewhat lecherous villain I have, but he's not exactly proposing marriage, cough... I don't use it these days though because I wasn't really thinking when I created the toon on Freedom not Virtue.
(And before anyone brings up the darker corners of Pocket D, that wasn't the point for it, the point was the toon's just sort of disreputable.) -

QR - Money talks. NCSoft would be crazy to not offer more slots for real money. I for one will pay up to $30 for a slot. If people think that's too high and it should be $9.99 per slot, then in that case I'll buy three. Come on, NCSoft, Have some more of my money. Please.

I have 2: My first was a MA/Nin Stalker called 'The Rascal King' (my first character to 50, & before the I12 stalker buff).
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow!
That should earn you a badge...I deleted every pre-buff stalker I ever tried to play.
[/ QUOTE ]
I fell for my DB/Nin stalker and ran her up to 50 pre-buffs too. I can still remember how hard it was to find PuGs, broadcasting stuff like "23 lolstalker LFT". I'd get a few "lol"s in return but not many invites.
Before my stalker it was a joke Katana/Regen scrapper toon I made - then I discovered how awesome scrappers are. I ran him to 50 but then the affair broke off, he was from blueside and my allegiance was red through and through.
These days I seem to be in between relationships.Oh sure, I've been seeing some people like my Fire/Traps Corr, My Bots/Storm and I even called up one of my exes, that Grav/Thorns Dom. My newest toon, a Bots/Dark, is cute and fun to hang out with too, but I don't see it getting serious...

The Marvel character is named Elektra, and has been around since the 80s I think. For purposes of your arc, try altering the name a little like "Elekktra" or "Elektraa" or something I guess? "E. Lektra"?

I like putting two END REDs into the Eqips and I never slot anything past the freebie in my travel powers as slots seem so much more useful elsewhere. Both of these may just be me, YMMV as is always the case.
Oh, and be sure you don't tell anyone you're teaming with that you slotted your Assault Bot for Knockback! -

and what colors are used by the default game for things like "This is an objective", or "Warning, this mission may be a bit difficult."
[/ QUOTE ]
I've noticed the default game isn't consistent in this regard.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe this topic came up right after AE launched and the consensus was that the dev-made stuff indeed wasn't consistent in it's use of color highlights - which means you can't do it wrong. -
[ QUOTE ]
Something I'd like to see is a simple guide to getting colored text in the mission descriptions - what the html codes are, and what colors are used by the default game for things like "This is an objective", or "Warning, this mission may be a bit difficult."
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a page for this on paragonwiki somewhere, but a short and simple method is to highlight the text you want to color or put in italics or bold and then right click it - a little menu will pop up giving you these options. -

Well played! -
Aside from the stealth, I'd just as soon choose to drop SuperSpeed and use the power pick elsewhere, but that might just be me.
My one /Kin, a Corr, is at about 33rd level and I never took a travel power for him beyond Siphon and that Kin "+jump" one (can't recall the name right now). Those two, combined with any one of the numerous jetpack temp powers and one of the Fitness powers (Swift or Hurdle, can't recall which one I took), meant I never felt I ever needed an official travel power.
So it can work, it's just up to you to decide if that fits your play style or you want to try it out. For me it was an experiment I made after I heard that Kins could get by without a real travel power - an experiment that worked out.
