usual stating when leaving team..*ahem*
"need to leave now, thanks for the team"
Also since everyone is getting on Munki for his post he is honest. If he quit my team for the reason it does not fit him, then I am glad cause his is not helping me in the end run. Cause at the end of the day it is all about insert personal name here.
Also I quit many team like that before sayign I am leaving cause they were going nowhere in my eyes, people do it all the time in RL, so it is natural people would do it in a game where they use it to avoid stress.
[/ QUOTE ]
It wasn't his saying that he quits teams, it was the tactless manner he expressed it and the reasons he stated for doing so.
Which provides a good example of why politeness is important, people tend to dismiss you and your thinking without it. Humans are hardwired to be social and ignoring those usual social niceties tends to get you ostracized. -

Well to day i was playing my thug/posion MM. well i do lvl 36 mm lft. like i always do. Get an invite from a random stalker. dont usally do this but since i was bored i joined w/o looking at their vet badges. When i get to the AE building for a farm **gasp** he sends me a tell about what power set i am. i tell him he kicks me saying that thug mm get everybody killed (even though i problly coud solo most Strike forces). He was a 0 month vet and probbly be lvl 5 right now w/o AE.
But aside from the story of my day. is there truth in this that thug mm get evry one killed and shouldnt be allowed on teams?
sry about my grammer not my strong suit.
[/ QUOTE ]
Judging by the story and question, I'd say your vet badges aren't too numerous either.
And yes, the guy had no clue what he was saying. There are no bad power sets or ATs, just bad players. -
The best reason is that some of us aren't number crunching bean counters when it comes to the game and like to play it, not over analyze it. Of course, one man's over analysis is another's play, but do know that not everyone here plays that way.
Also, once you've been there done that with thugs, why do it again? Try another powerset for the variety. -

But Munki, why be so mean? Simple, because I play this game so I can have fun. As long as I'm not breaking any rules, I don't give a crap about anybody else. If somebody's day is worse off because they ran across me, I don't care. I see all of yall as nothing more than fillers on the way to accomplish my goals.
edit: The people that feel they deserve some sort of explanation are self obsessed losers. That simple.

Then you have the most apt avatar on these forums, it tells us up front everything we need to know about you. -

One more: chaining destructible objects can make them untargetable until "aggrod", which can be a problem for ranged characters. Targeting through pets works. I believe this one's still around because someone mentioned it in another thread.
[/ QUOTE ]
Confirmed. I'm facing this is an arc I'm working on. I pub'ed it, /bugged it, the devs looked at it and emailed me that it's a known bug.
I don't know if attacking them through pets works, I'll have to try that. I've heard that AoEs will "awaken" them to normal status, but neither my Rain of Fire or my Caltrops did the trick.
Also, there were some targets that I was never able to agro apparently, even after getting up close and trying to bap them with Sands of Mu.
Best work around I can think of? Don't make them singular, needed to complete the mish or tie deathly important clues to them unless you plant it/them in multiple places. -

Imagine those huddled masses of lowbies and newbies and AE babies forced back onto the streets and into paper missions again. Out into the game where they'll have to learn the ropes for themselves, carry themselves from 1-50 like we did before AE, because nobody needs them to get proper-sized spawns anymore.
I think this is the best move the devs have ever made. I hope that they were smart enough to realize what they were doing, that it was on purpose, but really? Even if it's an accident, I think it's the best accident to happen to the game since AE.
[/ QUOTE ]
This. I love this. It is bloody beautiful and I can't wait.
----------------------------
*edit*
Actually I just had another thought about this.
Will the lowbies REALLY go back to normal content?
Won't they just form a team in their own level range and mindlessly farm the AE at their own level?
I can just see there will be level 20, level 30 and level 40 AE farms created & running and being broadcast anyhow.
Why would they bother to leave Atlas Park when they can run a farm in their own level range?
The only difference I anticipate at this stage, is the hard core farmers will farm solo with mobs spawned to 8, and lower levels will segregate off to form farm teams in the AE at their own level range.
*2nd edit* Also, another important fact here. Tickets. Why would the lowbies go back to doing normal content, when they can get 1500 tickets from running ONE mission? Enough tickets to give all sorts of juicy rewards from the ticket vendor? Mission rewards outside of the AE simply can't compare to the instant and guaranteed gratification that you will get from 1 AE mission farm.
[/ QUOTE ]
These poor clueless newbies will end up being decimated on their self-run farms because they don't know good tactics for their ATs, how to successfully choose and slot their powersets, how to fill those slots (see that "why do I suck, lol!" thread) or how to team. And that's just off the top of my head, never mind other issues like "What's Talos?"
They'll either:
+ come here, read and learn how to play and become "real players" - hooray!
+ slowly work at learning what they were doing wrong as they keep playing and become "real players" along the way - hooray!
+ get bored by a game that demands a little attention rather than just raining goodies from the skies and leave - hooray!
No matter who wins, we all win too. -

I just was wondering, does anyone else get irritated when u finally get into a team, u do 1 or 2 missions, and then u have the "Incredible Shrinking Team" happen? What I mean is u do a couple of mishes with a really good/well-balanced group, and then the people whose mishes u did just leave, without saying anything, yer team just shrinks. To me that is kinda disrespectful and irritating. I am sorry, i had to vent.

God forbid people have lives outside of the game....

God forbid people taking a few seconds to say they gotta go
[/ QUOTE ]
This.
Really, it's not so hard is it? I always make a point of this, even if I'm leaving the team for whatever reason; I even drop a "I just don't see this working guys, I'm off, thanks and good luck" for a multi-team-wipe-of-idiocy PuG or "I'm sorry, I don't farm, thanks anyways." It's not hard at all unless you're being lazy or nasty for whatever reason you think justifies it.
Power outages, IRL emergency all those get a free pass, duh. But I doubt there are as many of those as I see people drop wordlessly. -
Bah, we've let this degenerate into another "market is eeeevil!" thread.
Everyone who believes that - go read The Market forums and learn how you're doing to wrong.
Everyone else, go back to crying DOOOOOM. I want the DOOOOOMiest DOOOOOM that ever DOOOOOMed in DOOOOMsville! -
[ QUOTE ]
Note though that some players get really annoyed if the nav bar hint doesn't tell you what kind of thing you're looking for. If the circumstances (map and placement) are such that the clue might be hard to identify, you risk ragequit if people don't have enough information to narrow down the search.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ragequits don't bother me all that much, people really should be keeping their eyes open and I can only be held responsible for such reactions to a limited extent at best. They'd be more likely to ragequit when they find out it's not a farm, really.
Regardless, the map was small (I seem to use nothing but!) and they (the "clues") were all pretty obvious. One of them is not so much a "captive" but is there for a plot reason hanging out with the badguys and just happens to decide to leave after you've pummeled the mobs. No misleading or trickery at all. -
[ QUOTE ]
The beautiful thing is that they don't even have to be the same type of objective to do this. I can have a hostage, a glowie, a boss and a destructible object, but if I make the plural nav text "clues to find" on all 4 of them, it'll show up as "4 clues to find" in the nav bar.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did this in my first arc (see below) with the generic "5 possible clues to find!", it works pretty well. -
I ended up bugging it myself too.
You describe it perfectly - solo, unguarded, seems to happen at further (beyond agro) range. The one thing I've seen that's different is that my AoEs (Rain of Fire and Caltrops) weren't making any difference.
Thanks for the reply though.Wonder how I missed the threads about this though...

I should add - pretty much the only things I wanted from the Science Pack were the face details and the Super Tailor.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, some of those new goggles are really nice.
My current MM, Watership Doom is somewhat cyber-y looking s I took her to the tailor to try on the Death Goggles (along with a glance at the other new options). I'd seen pictures of them and thought they'd fit her pretty well. ZOMG they were great on her, very creepy! She's like 29.5 right now, so I can't wait to do her third costume slot. -

For some reason a lot of my currently-played toons are weapony so there might not be that much to change. Still, my bots/dark MM might have her dark powers changed, although currently I'm already kind of happy with them. I do have a blaster I haven't played in ages called Blackfire Blaster, so I'll have to see what black flame looks like, if it's not just "mostly transparent".
-
Here's a funny one: I'm currently working on a mish that has a bunch of destructibles included to drop clues, like 32 of the guys (don't worry, there won't be 32 different clues!).
So in testing it, I targeted one and couldn't attack it, it came up saying "invalid target" like when you try and fire off at an ally. Then the same thing happened on another and another. Then I found some I could take out. Then I found out that some that gave me that message would suddenly change and be targetible and destructible after a couple of clicks trying to attack it.
I couldn't find any pattern in it, some worked out after one attempt, some after three or more, etc.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I've never heard of this happening and thought I'd ask about it here before I filed a bug report. -
I may be coming to the party late with this thread, but this caught me:

Especially since Lothic (last I checked) still not happy that the dves took the time to change the alakazamreact emote to bring up random objects when one the juggle emotes still don't work when hovering (even after it was pointed out that it BAB said it was fixed but got broken again).
[/ QUOTE ]
That was me...but in my defense:
1) I didn't know that the juggle emotes weren't working with flight at the time (technically, they were working, they were just being immediately interrupted by the flight idle animations)
2) It took about 10 minutes to copy the giant list of FX GEOs from Propel, and then remove the ones that were way too big
3) It made me giggle like a schoolgirl for a solid couple of hours.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now you know how I felt about the multi-exploding Rikti Drones and Hoverbots, why'd you guys have to go an fix them, whyyyyy? -

As we were steamrolling along killing everything in sight in record time, newbie says: "If we had a real team we could be doing this a LOT FASTER. Wish this was a *real* team!"
[/ QUOTE ]
I can understand that anger, but if you could just have held onto your anger long enough to ask him what a "real team" would have been, that could have been comedy gold.
Personally I'm with you though, I'd have walked or kicked him if I was the leader. Come to think of it, if my SG was allowing someone to get away that sort of thing I might feel the urge to walk anyways. -

MA already approaches (or maybe surpasses?) 2xp levels of reward without any help.
I'd prefer they use 2xp as a lure to get the MA babies away from their consoles and out into the wider world.
[/ QUOTE ]
This was my thought when I saw the thread title. Maybe the devs can drop some DoubleXP weekends on us like once every other month to encourage such exploration of the bright and shiney world outside the MA buildings. -
[ QUOTE ]
The learning curve with inventions absolutely slaughtering regular enhancements has been tough for her as well. There needs to be a more in depth tutorial to inventions before you get loaded with salvage and recipes. Or there needs to be a smoother transition or higher level transition from training enhancements to DOs to Inventions.

Skip IOs until you (and she) feel comfortable with everything else new. Your toons still play just fine without them, nothing in the game has been ramped up to be harder because of IOs. Just sell them as they drop at WWs/BM and be done with them for now. This is not BS or bad advice I assure you.
AS for the teaming problem? You'll hear a lot of advice about making new friends who don't farm, joining an active SG, adding chat channels, etc. I've been working on doing those and so far my luck's been a tad poor, but I'm not giving up yet. It is rather an uphill battle I agree. -
For someone who's "too casual" a player to bother loading up one of the hero designer programs, this is so going on my permanent bookmark list.
-
The next to last costume contest I was in was won by a Dr. Doom knock-off, I was appalled. Then, some months later, I got into another one while running my rabbity MM named Watership Doom ...do the math, yeah... she's not a total rip-off, just sort of thematically related.
Talking to one of the cc organizers, I made a joke about that last contest and that it meant I should win this one. I came in second! The guy who came in first really had a good one and all the final runner-ups were pretty strong. I can't recall the name of the SG, but those were decent folk who obviously recognized people who did put effort into their toons, and I say that not just because I came in second (although it probably helps).

Super Hero games are a niche market.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless they're a franchise licensing deal based on the lastest Batman/Spiderman/Stupidman movie - not that Paragon Studios (did I get that right?) can touch that sort of money to throw around.
Still, these days superheroes as a marketable commodity are hardly niche, unless you're talking the comics themselves. -
Currently on Freedom I'm working up an MM and I put a "no farms plz" comment for my search comment and guess what? It works, I never get invited to anything!
I'd consider using those free Xfers except for the fact that I play late at night into the early morning, which are the times of day when the populations are the lowest; on some servers, that means whole zones empty and that's not an exaggeration. I play redside so that adds another strike against the chances of finding people to team with.
I'm currently adding n as many chat-channels as I can think of (across other servers too) to boost my chances of finding PuGs for anything, but so far it's been sparse. Given my druthers, I'd just as soon stay on Freedom anyway though. I expect this stuff will die down a little as time goes by and things will get back to the way they were pre-AE.
