Off the top of my head I can't recall if I have Tactics on my toon or not yet, but with some IO sets both currently owned and planned I have some +ACC; will that also affect the pet (any of my pets really) or just the MM herself?

Waiting on PM-response from a redname or two on updating the old OPs and/or whether that's even possible now. Hadn't thought of doing a totally new one but either way will need mod-help, so yeah. o.O
Dude, you rock, thanks for the work.
  3. I've been thinking of taking my Bots/Dark MM along the GW path and this power sounds pretty awesome, but I have zero experience with it. Can anyone tell me what are good ways to slot it, what helps it the best and so on?
  4. We don't even know if the OPs are still playing this game or not. Chances are it will take the good grace of someone new carefully sifting through the entire Mastermind board (for example) and starting a totally new thread that we PM a dev to sticky for us.

If I had more time I'd do one. Heck, if I had more time I'd like to comb through some guides for AT X and combine the good info with the changes that have come about since many of them have been written and then publish it as a new guide. :P
  5. Well hm. This thread still hasn't helped me make up my mind. I've been playing a two year old Corr as of late while I let this subject bubble a bit in my gray matter and I guess it's not come to a simmer yet.

They all sound cool, can I take them all?
  6. Stick an @ in front of my forum name and that's me on Freedom! Feel free to hit me up for teaming if I'm online (I play late at night). I mainly run on Redside where I have a range of toons from 1 to 50 (LK or Exemp should be workable one way or the other). I do have a few heroes though, one 50 and a few probably no higher than 25th. I'm happy to play anything though.

Over this last DXP weekend I actually found some nonfarm teams to PuG with, did a couple of TFs... it was a nice yet shockingly unexpected bonus.
  7. Maybe we should spread this news to encourage some of the "AE babies" to get out and really see the rest of the game?
  8. I'm embarrassed to admit it here, but I...

I went back to the CO forums again.

    Still not impressed.

I was so glad when these came back up!

In many games, the 'real action' starts when you reach max level and can do group raids, special content, etc. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE GAMES. Why do you want to level up? Are you here to create a bunch of level 50's for a bragging contest or are you here to play the game and have fun? Quite frankly, much of the content in AE stinks and much of the activity in there is simply boring farming.

The stuff you can do in this game at level 50 is EXACTLY the same stuff you can do along the way as you level up. In fact, there is some content that you CAN'T do at level 50 unless someone else with a lower level character helps you (Safeguard and Mayhem missions).

It's your $15 per month and you can spend your entire gaming time in the AE building if you like. Take note, however, that most of the veteran players *DO NOT* spend much time in AE. It really isn't that impressive compared to the rest of the game.

As for leveling, what's the big deal? I spend most of my time playing a level 50 character that I got to 50 long before AE existed. I'm not here to level - I'm here to have fun and play with friends.
Quoted for truth for the OP. Leveling is not the object of this game, really. This game is not meant to be a console game where you click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and click and watch your XP and gold numbers climb and climb. You can play it that way, but you're missing out on other built-in areas of the game - sort of like going to the salad bar and only eating the croutons.

There is more to (CoH) life than collecting croutons.
  10. Unpublish your arc then republish it and whammo - one star rating is now gone.

Wait, did I get that right?

I've never had it nor played a toon with one of the tentacle holds, but that's my recollection as well, they still end up suffering KB - which was why I was bringing this up. Still, I'm more a fan of playing for fun than counting up every last fraction of a point in my favor, so I may still go with GW.

    • -CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK *blocks door*
all MM pets block doors, not just bots; the clanking is the sound of massive win being applied (you get used to it)
    • +Tons of AoE once upgraded and not on retardedly long timers
range fighters too, not melee; I find this preferable

      yup
    That's my take anyway.
  13. Watership Doom (bots/dark MM)
    Chaos Shocktrooper (ar/kin corr)
Clave Dark 5 (em/sr stalker; look up the archaic word "clave" sometime)
    Mars Attracts (bots/storm mm)
    Rattus Rex (mercs/traps mm)
    Cyb3r J4ck (fire/traps corr)
    Spin The Knife (db/nin stalker)
    Watch Uranus (thorns/grav dom)

I can't recall the last time I had to rechoose a name because it was already taken.
  14. Playing at night/early morning (think like 4 AM), I was able to team on freakin PINNACLE for cryin out loud! A PuG! Running NONFARM MISSIONS! I was quite shocked!! My MM there, who is my second toon ever, may end up reaching 50 yet.

I also got to PuG all sorts of missions on (nonlaggy) Freedom, only doing any AE stuff when I felt like it.

For me, this weekend was actually more of a return to normal, if anything. It was refreshing.

Guys! I just rushed over as fast as I could, give me a second to...

    *pant pant*

    catch my breath...

Ok. The answer is yes, it does apply!

Then how come I keep running into players who don't know how to slot or what a decent build should look like?
  17. The lowest level "My First Bank Robbery!" mayhem, with a level 3 stalker who's Hide may as well be turned off.
  18. I didn't play any of the toons I'm currently working on. Instead I dug out a three year old AR/Kin Corr that hasn't seen anything in over a year.

I'd been thinking of doing this because I recently saw a cool painting that gave me an awesome costume concept for what "felt" like an AR/Kin. So I dusted off my old one who was already at 31st level, gave him a new costume and it was like starting a totally new toon at 31st. I got him up to 37th, with a little farming involved, but mostly real teaming on radio missions and disastrous yet fun bank runs.

Yeah, I didn't play all that much this weekend.

I haven't had any experience with any of them, but the received wisdom is that indeed they're all just about useless. Relatively. They may have some use here and there, but there's usually other powers better to pick up (pool powers, other Patron pool powers, primaries or secondaries you haven't gotten around to yet).

Unless of course you just want one them because "it's cool to have one" - then go for it!
  20. It seems as if few newer guides get written these days. I'm not sure why that is - perhaps because IO sets allow people more freedom to put together really funky builds that will never the less work and work well due to slotting up some otherwise dud power for an IO set mule, perhaps because some power sets get nerfed/changed etc. Who can say?

When I have a question about such things I find that posting in the forums about the single power (say "Acid Mortar") rather than ask for a whole guide works pretty well. Plus whenever people posts builds I glance over them to see what they're up to.

All you've got to do is commit crazy acts of insanity and survive them. A teammate will do the same. They'll die. Then you get Vengeance
This made me laugh because I just took Vengeance on my AR/Kin! You've made up my mind for me what I'll be taking.

I've been told those two sets, while awesome icing on a corrupter cake apart, do not synergise well. I haven't tried them myself so I don't know if that's true or not. They are both pretty good sets apart though, so that might be fiction.

I had a Fire/Traps that did really well, all those AoEs were grand.
  23. The Leadership powers will be useful in every battle, the Recall Friend only in the occasional circumstances. I don't see this as being that tough a choice when you think about it like that.
  24. MMs pets are fairly easy to slot. Max out the ACC with three ACCs (if you're using generics) in your tier one pets because later on in life they fight at two levels below you, so you don't want them to miss all the time. Then max them out on damage with three DAMs. Your tier two and three pets will have enough ACC with two, them max our their damage with three DAMs. That leaves you a slot on each for their various effects or needs; for instance, tier two Bots need help with END, so there's the slot right there. Or you might go for enhancing certain effects they have like stuns, holds, heals, whatever.

Now if you frankenslot with IOs, you can max out ACC and DAM in five slots on all three tiers as well as possibly worming in a few extras like the +END needed for bots. There was a really good thread about doing that that I no longer have marked because of the forum swap. I do have some notes though, lucky us!

To do this (if I can read my notes rightly), you need:

    Unquestioning Loyalty 30th level Acc/Dam
    Brilliant Leadership 30th level: Acc/Dam and Acc/Dam/End
    Blood Mandate 30th level: Acc/Dam and Acc/Dam/End

They only need to be level 30 IOs to get the "maxed out" effect, but if you can't find a 30th and say drop in a 34 instead or perhaps a 28th or whatever, no prob. Just keep an eye on the math. The couple of times I've done frankenslotting I haven't really missed the set effects all that much - not that I recall any of the pet damage sets having much to go for in that regard anyway :P - and it's usually cheaper and a bit of fun figuring out the math to make your choices workable.

Other than that, just double slot you equip powers with two END.

That's how I've been doing it on my latest MM and it seems to work out pretty well. Hope this helps out.

    What demon/?

I was thinking TA as well because I haven't tried that one yet. On the other hand I'm not much of a fan of melee pets so I might not make one at all if the demons are predominantly melee.
