My opinion is that my GF doesn't do scary films so I'll be waiting for it on NetFlix. Also that in concept it could be really cool but in execution I'm hearing it just doesn't have the same sort of edge that Alien did. I'm actually more jazzed to see Beyond The Black Rainbow too - I generally prefer something original over a retread.
  2. I haven't played one (yet?) because I know nothing about them. Learning about their unique slotting wand methods of use would be homework. When I have the time to play, I often only have about an hour - why would I want to throw that away on "studying" when I could be "acing another test" with another toon?

Come to think of it, this "time vs. homework" issue often determines which toon I play (and what content - I may never play Incarnate stuff because of it). I have a Kin Corr at something like 43rd level that I never play for fear I've got him slotted so badly that I've gimped him. Then again, long as a team gets SB, they don't often care beyond that.

I think they all sound fine: rotating servers is always good as it means anyone playing will have a chance to bring out there mains no matter where they are. The theme idea, such as "Christmas in July!" was never mean to be hard'n'fast rule, as I understood it, and keeping an updated list is a good idea too - a separate thread I think would work out best.

I'll do my best to try and show up for these things more than I have been in the past, if my day-sleeping schedule can allow it.
  4. Within two weeks or less (memory's a bit hazy) after the copyright-name bug showed up in AE, I was told in an email response to my /bug report that the devs had tried a fix but it hadn't worked so they were looking at something else.

Last time I ever expect the devs to do something obviously necessary in a timely manner. Arc was indeed set up to lose...
  5. Having released arcs myself just when a big new ish was hitting, I'll tell you that your arc will be overshadowed by it. My advice to you is to keep bumping your thread here with any lame excuse you can think of.

  7. I think I may still have mine (not sure when I last dove into all those long whites I keep like a millstone). I read it from issue 1 up until... Hm, not sure, but I bought a lot of 'em.

Maybe Lee did and Rob just told him "Shut up Jim you're just mad my guys have bigger chest muscle things".
Story time (sans exact details I've forgotten): A friend in the comics shop I worked at years ago got a page of original art RL had done for a Hawk&Dove back-up at DC, before he became famous. Said pencil work had been inked by someone famous, but who's name I've forgotten; any nerd worth his backboards would recognize it.

Now, when you erase the pencil lines "enough" so they don't show up on the printed page (this was before scanning, natch), they often still showed enough on the original art itself to make them out just fine. My friend pointed out that the inker had taken the trouble to draw in all the wrists and ankles that RL... flubbed. Faked. Ignored. Pretended he could get away with.

My guess is he'll be drawing this way till the day he dies.

Word-of-mouth I keep hearing is "well it didn't suck in any way, so that's good." I'm curious to see what happenes next week with those numbers too - funny, because normally I don't give a fig for the usual horse racing.
  11. You name it, I probably haven't played it.

I think the last time I ran anything was Johnny Sonota's arc redside, and the next to the last mission left a really bad taste in this solo-player's mouth (huge map, find and lead four hostages, etc.).

The other reason is that I've grown pretty bored of solo playing and almost always PUG, as I alt around too much for an SG. PUGs very very rarely in my expoerience ever do anything other than trials, radios and tips (I'm sure some of you will pop up here and tell me otherwise and good for you, just that my milage has varied).

Bolded part is a sweeping over-generalization, many of us are still having fun with it, problems or no. It does work perfectly fine for what you might consider 'more limited' applications. I'm 90% there with you on "wasted potential" though.

As for HeroCon, the devs not being pelted with questions and nerdrage would probably be a good indication how few players care about the system and why the devs feel they can put this thing behind them... sadly.

  15. I'd like a straw boater, nothing says 'snazzy' better than a straw boater.
  16. So, a bit of time has passed on this and I was wondering: did anyone /bug this and what response did you get from our dev overlords?
  17. The very first comic I know was mine was an issue of Magnus Robot Fighter from the early 70s where some rogue bots take over the weather control system for North Am. I loved it. Still have it too.

Some of the very first comics I ever read though? Heh heh heh... down in my grandmother's dark basement was an old dark brown bureau that contained my father's childhood stash of EC comics, an equal mix of the sci-fi and horror titles. To my young self, this was like stumbling across the Necronomicon, yellowed pages of frightening implications, tales of weird worlds and alien creatures... Today I own a ton of them in reprints and they still hold up well (esp. the art, oh man...); Magnus not so much, but I do own a bunch of them anyways.

Agreed, once you've read this you're going to be sorely disappointed by other superhero comics, for the most part. You never want to start with top quality!!

    Yes, that is sarcasm.

Those are really the only ways short of betrayal that I can see the ally meeting his/her unfortunate fate.
FYI, the system's pretty buggy so they often tend to stand right back up. Best you can do is use one of the above techinques and be sure to spell out in your mission text that the NPC is dead (did this myself in one of my arcs).

Theoretically, any office map could pass, seems to me to. Not every floor of a police station needs a yellow dotted line on the floor, a roped queue and a room of weird blue generator-looking thingies.
