Quote:So wait, we won't get a chance to take down Jack or Eochia (sp?) without having taken down all four banners in a zone? That's kinda bleagh.Paragon Wiki is your friend
I had to look it up too... the nav bar thing is a little confusing, especially once the banners go down... I've not had any luck getting to the GM Aspect by using it. If there are several teams in the zone, it's likely the GM Aspect will go down faster than you can say "boo"... and you have to be in the vicinity in order to get the badge for it. PITA, if you ask me.
I have to admit I'm just not jazzed to do this, the whole thing seems a tad too complex for it's own good. I also have to deal with my hours - chances are I'll be playing some toons when there's maybe five other people in a zone (I've frequently seen zones empty save for myself). I'm also not much of a badge-hound; I have one toon I sort of try badge-out for the sake of it, but I've skipped some content I don't enjoy at all such as the ski-runs. Looks like this may be another one of those times. -
Quote:I have no problem with the write-ups! They do a good job of summing up.I was doing quick tests of a mission, and forgot to open up my Clues between logging on and finishing an arc - so I triggered the "wipe out all of my A.E. souvenirs" bug. This is a very frustrating bug that I wish the developers would actually correct. Why is this important? Well, I use the souvenirs to help jog my memory when posting the "review stories" for this thread. Fortunately, I thought to start taking better notes about two weeks ago, so as to improve the reviews I post here (I hope), but the next three arcs that are up for a review were from before I was taking more detailed notes.
So, my apologies to Clive_Dark_5; these are not really up to par, in my opinion, but I'll do my best!
I have a problem with you getting my name wrong!
Quote:Too Many Bunnygirls! (Arc ID#101165, 5 stars)
Cons: I only remember one - the basic concept of the bunny girls being "all alike" makes sense in the context of the arc, and looks good in principle, but the reality is that it does make fighting the custom group (which factors into all missions in the arc) start to get a little dull (just a little) by the end of the arc. My main recommendation was for more variety in the appearance of the minions in the arc - although I think I remember reading elsewhere that the author had gotten similar comments in other reviews (after I played this arc) and had already made a few changes. But I may be misremembering.
Quote:AE's Premium Quality Mission: "Guaranteed Qualityyyy Loading Error" (Arc ID#143476, 4 stars, 5 stars given in game)
Pros: I do honestly thing the author accomplished what he set out to accomplish in this arc...
Quote:Cons: ...I've already played through a couple of arcs that play up this concept; this arc didn't really add anything fresh to that (although, to be very fair, it didn't really do anything worse than the other arcs did either) - that's not so much the author's fault, but it doesn't change the fact that it keeps this arc from standing out as much as his other two.
Thanks for the kind words and good advice! -
I was wondering about something like that happening. Maybe we should still get together but just ToT or banner-team it until this event's over? Or is that too "impure" for these MA toons we're making? Personally, my playtime's limited and I need to get in as much time on the event as possible. I may still show for the team on Sunday (my one window of time that lines up with yours); for all I know I might be sick of it by then.

Quote:I'll do that, thanks. I don't have a router though, so I doubt that's the problem.Maybe check with your cable company, make sure your video card is update....or like in our case, could be your router or in yours, the modem
Is this game more difficult to download than a streaming film? Because I watch stuff from NetFlix and so on and haven't had probs there. -
I'd like a "random passersby" menu to populate a map - Paragon City street pedestrians (they wave to you heroes, run from villains), RI (back away from you villains) and mayhems (target-able and running around like chickens with their heads cut off), etc.
Even having those ghosty ones from Dark Astoria (I think) would be cool too. -
Not to add fuel to a fire, but haven't the devs said that a large majority of accounts don't even have a 50? I can't imagine they'd create a whole expansion for only a small number of long-termers and then try to sell it in a new box on the shelf to attract new customers. "Don't worry new-comer! After you grind your way to 50, you can play the new material we've added in this box!"

Thanks for the tip! I took my lowbie scrapper in and tried a few that came up under that flag and - surprise! - found mostly boss farms and outright "I never got around to really finishing this" detritus. Then again I might have been hampered by the low level of the toon.

Can anyone suggest some things to check afor this problem?
Lately I've been suffering the dreaded rubberbanding or stuttering of the game. My toon's walking along when suddenly he pops back a couple of paces. If I'm still holding down W he can sometimes seem to take one point five steps back for every step forward. It also drops or lags tray-button clicks so it seems as if the AI is a touch slow on acknowledging everything that's going on.
It doesn't happen all the time or at an even rate. It normally doesn't seem to happen when I first log in, but comes later, say after an hour or more. I'm pretty sure it didn't happen while I was playing a cd on the puter, but it did today, if that might be related.
I said something about it on a team and a player suggested first /sync (which I had been doing and wasn't helping) and then /unloadgfx. That did the trick for a bit but then it came back. Today it would help for maybe all of a few seconds and then the stuttering came right back.
Nothing with my system's been changed or upgraded recently, except for i16 maybe, but this only started say five or six days ago and up until now my system's been handling the settings fine.
I'm wondering if maybe my graphics card is wearing out, getting slower, or if maybe there's a prob with my cable modem or... maybe it's a Nemesis plot, I really have no ideas and I'm not very techy.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. -
Yeah, the first one was not so hot, especially the first map being populated by toons with Storm powers - en masse, that's pretty rough on a team (especially when some of the team are under 20th level!). I didn't get to read much of the text but what I saw of it wasn't totally without merit, but much of the arc needs a lot of work. The kindest thing I can say is "not a total waste of a rough draft" and "not an abandoned boss farm" (althought wasn't that last mission all Lt.s?).
I'm sad I had to leave after that one, I'm really curious to know what a "romance" arc is like now, as we had made jokes about it before we started the first arc. I may have to just get my new toon to the MA again and start checkingl out any arc marked for "romance" (while trying to dodge any LoveBoat jokes). It's going to be slow going trying to level him up on such a low-pop server so I might as well have fun doing it, right? -
I've only taken two toons to 50 so far and they pretty much stopped getting played after that. What usually happens to me is I start a new toon and get all excited by that one and tend to shelve the rest. I recently realized I had nearly two servers full of toons that I loved but had never taken past say 35 on average and I should concentrate on them.
Since that time I have started at least three new toons. :P -

Not very much! :P As usual my weekend was filled with time spent with my GF and her kitty - oh when will the horror end?!
I did start up a new Mind/NRG Dom that looks delightful already at merely 11th level however so all was not wasted. I also did add a couple of levels to my LOLITROLLU Fire/Emp troller with pink powers. She's now about half a level from Fire Imps! Now if I can just keep battling back my "Heroside seems so dull" affliction, I might be able to get them soon. I dunno why, as I have a 50 on blueside and have given heroes an honest shot, but villainside just seems to feel more like home to me.... but I really do want to finish her off as overall it's a fun pairing of powers to play imho. -
This one seems worse on low level toons, but does happen a lot:
No matter what build you're using, the enhancers that drop will be for power types you don't have.
Brutes getting Hold enhancers for example. -
Quote:Although I won't downplay that possibility, I seem to recall reading that one of the devs has a degree in some form of ancient history like Greece or something. I would bet that played into it as well.In fairness Cimerororora has always been a conceptual mess. The only reason it exists is because someone in Paragon Studios got excited about 300.
And I want clunky robot costume parts too! -
My question would be if the graphics engine is getting an update or not.
-
Bah, you heroes have it easy...
I'm facing this issue but on redside. 'Parently there's only the occasional few that spawn on a beach in Grandville (at about 50th level or so) and the Television missions.
I was hoping to get my AR/Kin Corr the unlockable rifle sooner than that...Still, he's at 39 right now so it's not that far off I suppose.

Quote:Ooh, nice one. I have to second this sentiment. You don't.
Best way to find arcs worth playing: Start a thread in the Mission Architect forum.
Second best: Sift through existing threads for recommendations.
Lots of people are genuinely working on arcs that they intend to be entertaining and fun, not disguised PL farms, not disguised complaints about whatever. And while they won't be perfect, constructive feedback is always helpful.
Remember, the SFMA tag is your friend. It stands for "Story Focused Mission Arc" and the few who use it (forum posters all) were trying to turn out a solid story. Fight past your anti-MA urges, use that in your search on MA and you shouldn't be disappointed. If after say five tries you still are, then you're probably a mister cranky-pants that nothing will cheer up and there's no hope for you. Ever. -
I can make it sometimes on Sunday for a few hours so I'll check my server list and see if I have anyone on Triumph that can join.
Triumph's one of those servers outside of Freedom and Virtue that I may have stuck my head into at some point, tossed off a toon or two that got to maybe 3rd level and then never went back to, so this could work out well. Failing that, I'll just make a new one - always room for another alt.
Edit: Turns out I had no one there so I created a new scrapper. I'll hop on on Sunday and hope to run into you guys there! -
Well nuts, I thought we could only submit one arc at all. Of course I find this out after midnight of the last day...
I submitted my TOO MANY BUNNYGIRLS! arc because it's the most refined of the three, being the oldest and most-commented-upon. My second probably could have gone in too, but it would have been in for the same category, non-canon story. My third one's still in the "getting comments and making changes based on them" stage.
I have no idea if I can win or not as I know there are a lot of talented folk out there (and I'm only averaging a four-star rating on all three, no five-stars), but I'm guessing the devs are using this contest as a way to look for some new Dev Choice candidates, so I wanted to get my foot in the door (or my mouth) for that! -
Good point. The last time I tried to use TP was before they gave us the purchasable jetpacks. I still stand by (and underline) my comment about annoying use though (*point, click, repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat* "Yay! Now I've crossed half of Sharkhead!").

Quote:How about if I just say "all of them" and leave it at that?[FONT=Arial]
Please keep try to keep suggestions focused on maps that are currently in the game but not in Architect. A good example of what I'm looking for is Lord Mayhem's write up for the SERAPH lab map. It's also very helpful on my end if you can specify what mission you found it in, as it can help me track it down easier.
And I am (somewhat) serious.
