Just the other day I was slotting a newish toon and was putting in some "named" DOs, like Benedict Tech Adv. Targeting Eye or something and it seemed a bit silly to me when I thought about it. "Just how many eyes do I freakin' have?!"

Just in time for the thread to die off, perfect!

Actually there is one semi-pertinent bit of info that I can think of to stick in this thread: my fourth-place-earning entry DayJob Hell (see my sig) has been updated to reflect all the great feedback I got by having it nominated - thanks everyone!
  3. Wait, I'm lost here...

So "customs [by customs do you mean fully-custom-created or customized-standard foes Like Hera's Council?] are not giving out less XP", but what is this about Freaks giving out 261, customs 274 (more? really?) and Freaks "giving out 5% less and the higher the level the greater the reduction"???

Er, what? Did I miss a detail here that would link all this info together somehow that would make it make sense? Maybe I read this thread too quickly and missed something...

Are... catgirls involved? Please tell me yes.

Serious (if lame) responses: if you're not going to worry about the XP issue, then foes with that one attack that Poison has where you form a big ball above your head and lob it at your target perhaps; I don't know what it's called as I've never run a Posion. I think the animation is used in another power set too.

Or how about a stone mallet colored in pastels, a "pillow mallet"? I'd find it funny to suffer knock-back in a pillow fight.
  5. Quick question - am I hallucinating having read somewhere that the 'burning forest' map was put back in? I'd like to use it in a new arc I'm working on but can't find it... or maybe I'm hallucinating not being able to find it...

Any help with my mental problems real or imagined always greatly appreciated, especially imagined help.
  6. And... can we choose to add fog/smoke to maps please?

That's one thing I was thinking might happen if the mission has a lot of objectives. Still, it's worth looking into I think for the replay value.

While I like that you seemed to be trying to make the missions short and to the point, Mission 2 could stand to have more in it. Possibly have a named boss the player has to fight for the "password" and have the computer deactivated until then.

While I think I'm forgetting something, I don't remember any typos and I liked the contact. However, you might want to say you are paying for each mission rather than at the end since these are villains.
I'll pretty much second this - no problems of real note but it didn't seem to really start to cook and then go out with a bang, so to speak. Still, that puts it above say 7/10s of most of the clutter out there on MA, right?

One interesting thing I think I caught: we started playing this on an 8-man team, then a ninth showed up after we'd played the first mish out so we split into two teams. Team one kept going (I'm assuming) with mish two, but the second team, which I was on, played it from mish one again - and the map was different. That means that the map was just set for "random".

I find this interesting because actually, I'm not sure I've seen anyone do that yet - that I know of anyways. It actually made the experience feel different, at least sort of, even though it was "just another 'small' 'underground lab' map. I'm going to have to seriously look into doing this with my own future MA arcs, because that should prevent the endless salt mine of testing, re-editing and replaying from being quite so monotonous. Maybe I'm wrong and people are doing this all over the place, I dunno, but it seems to be worth mentioning here.

I'll second that. I had no idea it was in there until after I had put the power on a toon and was dashing over to a tailor to change her outfit, so it came as a sweet surprise to me.

I spent some time with a couple of PUGs doing those in St. M, they worked out pretty well; probably the best place to ToT as it keeps the werewolves from running off only to reappear once their sensitive noses smell that you're low on HP.
  12. I haven't checked out all the costume pieces but some are ok, some sort of blobby/bubbly looking to me - meaning sort of silly, but they might find good use elsewhere, like spacesuit gloves or something. Still, considering I happen to be working on a "generically Asian" MA arc right now, the timing couldn't have been better. I'll be going back in and rethinking my custom foes.

But the Ninja Sprint - woo! It's 100% silly and that's part of what makes it cool. Just for chuckles I went and made a second DB/Nin stalker, just because.

My scrapper's only like 14th right now and they've been letting him play since I created him so yes, no worries on level.

I wish I could have made it last Sunday but the group starts up about an hour before I have to hit the hay and Sunday I was just so wiped out by my usual get-up-way-early-to-see-the-GF schedule that all I was good for was some MST3K. :/ I have been itching to play this week though but what time I have online has been thrown away on starting another MA submission (two actually); so come Sunday I should be all rarin' ta go!

So we'd just be voting on their name, or would this be a costume contest as well, power set and design etc. or what? "Best dressed" catagory?

Has there been any news on this? And did you mean republish as in "just edit it again and republish with your global toon", or as in "take it down and put it back up"?

My latest arc has one of my toon's name, not my global, on it but has reached about 25 plays - I'd hate to lose those...

....There was a large amount of arcs for possible voters to play through in a limited amount of time. It's hard to pin down a correct amount of time for something like this, but I ended up with a lot of votes in all the categories, many people who voted in all the categories, and many who voted in most.
Taking a look at those two problems, off hand I'd suggest just making a long voting period. Let people to play and vote on everything to start with, then average those out and have a run off between the highest vote-getters. By that point, a number of people may have played most of them and will be able to look at what's in the run off and will be able to choose without having to run through them again.
  18. Grats to all the winners! Grats to Bubba for taking the time to do it all too! Next time I'm sitting in front of the MA terminal wondering what to play, now I know what to look for.

I rather liked that arc, it was creepy.

Anyways, OP might enjoy my third arc DAYJOB HELL (see sig), expressly designed for lowbie villains who'd like to avoid snakes. It was written for a soloer, but the text is all formatted so that teams should be able to read it all (although it's written as if you're soloing too, really). I've been getting good feedback about it in the Player Awards - I doubt it'll win (it needs a few touch-ups), but good feedback never the less. =)

    Only 75% of the time?

Maybe I wasn't being random enough... I once spent some time looking through for arcs that had been tagged "Romance" out of curiosity and found that 1) there were very few of them and 2) none of them were really finished or any good at all.

Pretty much I never play in the MA unless I've heard good things about an arc while I'm here on the forums.

I think that's called ragdoll physics, which I think should be required for a parkour set - imagine how funny it would be to get mezzed while trying to run off.

Personally I've taken a few toons with combos of Hurdle+Jump and found them fun to play. They may travel a tad slower due to having to work at dodging purple foes, making sure they land on that rooftop correctly and so on, but isn't that what parkour is all about?

As for runing up walls, wall-clinging etc., I gather that's a very tough proposition and didn't even make it into CO - but I gave up on CO long before beta came along so I might be wrong on that.

This was my guess too, but I recall that he's quite fond of that site so I was trying to figure out if he thought the detail of where the villain's office/home was (at the back of the map past a clickable door) was itself somewhat silly or what. It's kind of hard to believe he'd make an attempt to speak the cant and get it wrong.

Anyways - good point for us all to remember - if you use that map, be sure and drop a hint to the players to click doors!

Meaning I should have made some snarky comment at my own material's expense because of the submap???

Not that I'm above snark at my own stuff, but... color me confused.

I've never heard the term "lampshading" but I'm assuming you're referring to not telling players to go and click on the door back there, right? Just want to make sure I understand you correctly.
