  1. My tray 4 is like that junk drawer that's hard to open and tangled with lengths of string, rubberbands and and that extension cord that doesn't work anyways and why the heck haven't we thrown it out already?

I delete Sprint on some toons, but end up tossing up there on others. Various temp powers from completed missions that I probably didn't even use much on said missions sit up there as well, maybe a pet macro or two (usually they displace something else like the GvE jetpack to 4 though). Sometimes my Ouro Portal goes up there, since it's a power I'm in no rush to get to when I want it. Sometimes my Self Destruct goes up there too - not really a good choice I know. I think a couple of toons still have Rocks or Snowballs from events past too.

On one toon I created a FIND macro to search out some hostages on a huge HUGE outdoor map (that's a mish I'll never run again, imagine what sort of ratings the devs would have gotten on that if they had put it in MA), and after that I put it up in his 4th tray.

Yeah, in otherwords I'm that organized about my 4th tray. "Hey honey, do you know where that one metal thing is? You know, with the funny bend and the thing?"

    Last Man Out.

If it's not a problem for you, you just set that last-man-standing guy to not spawn until the other things are done. If that is a problem for you... uhm... I have no clue.
  3. AAIIEEE! I have an arc that's about two-thrids done right now with a custom group of foes I'm pretty proud of - I need to get off my duff and finish it (and them) so I can enter!

(It is actually already published (taking tickets during all those test runs is always fun), but I wouldn't want someone to think I'm advocating they play it before I have it "just so"...

Thanks for giving me a kick in the pants to get working.

It's really pretty easy as long as you keep your eyes open. If this isn't a skill you've mastered yet, this is a good time to learn.

As for making a new character to play with the team, we seem to have overloaded on melee types (although that's changing a bit), so feel free to run something else, if you're so inclined.
  5. People are still using it, but not everyone and their brother are using it to the exclusion of all other content, like they used to. It's pretty helpful to bank up some tickets to buy orange-level salvage for example.

I'm crossing my fingers for the semi-rumored XP fix for custom mobs... the reawrds shouldn't be the way they are right now, I'll agree - I wouldn't go so far as to say they're "bad rewards", they're just less.

To make a metaphore: I might want a glass of water and you ask why I'd drink from a glass only 75% full when I can get one 100% full elsewhere. I like to admire the glass the water comes in as well as get a drink, that can be a reward as well.
  6. Seems like OP already knows "no one" will like this plot. I'd still say go for it - if you enjoy playing it, you've done good. If someone else down the line plays it and the story drags them in to the point where it works for them too (which any story should do, really), even better; if not, big deal.

Oh, as to your your premise - you can make that just one mish of say four, that should leaven the chagrin of some players a bit.

    The Name Thread!

I'd like to contribute but good names tend to find me, trailing their concepts, rather than the other way round.

I come up with names and concepts far more often that I could ever create new toons (much less play them to even 20th :P), but I'm in the habit now of writing them down and saving them for characters in my MA arcs. I've often thought about scouring my note books and just tossing them all off on some thread though...

This was one big reason I chose to stick with CoH than to start playing WoW. No one in America it seems understands subtly in voice acting, they always shoot for the thickly applied cartoonish stereotype.
  9. There's the Cimorean (sp?) Tombs (cave-like) map I think it's called; very catacomb-y be design, if a tad short.

So wait - no matter if it's a fine and healthy number as far as MMOs go, you're still going to think of it as too low? That reminds me of anorexics: "Even though my height/weight ratio is where it should be, I'm still too fat."
  11. Sadly yes, there are only about a few dozen word and letter combinations left, across all servers. A few of them left are listed below:

    Painful Itch
    ItsRainingMan
    Captain Slippery
    Mr. Failure
    I Love Mud
    Gramblesnoot
    Broken Toe
    MarkTwainMan
    Kdkjrsfgwert
    DirtyKnees
    Xuuydy
    iiiiiiiiiiiiir

So go ahead and bite the buillet and learn to revel in your uniquely named character iiiiiiiiiiiiir - it's quite a distinctive name!

I'd say this was a success for the devs, not a problem - people are now free to do what they couldn't before. This is usually a good thing.

Thanks for reminding me why it's a good thing there's not just ONE market, ONE arena, ONE uni, etc. Back when I started playing this game, my rig was pretty old and zoning was

    A) a (relatively) long term time commitment and
    B) a (slight) crash risk

I feel for people playing this game with older puters because of my experience and asking said players to zonezonezonezone to get somewhere is kind of draconian I feel. In some ways I like the idea of "only ONE", but I can't back it with this in mind.
  15. It seemed obvious to me that they wanted a co-op zone AE building so heroes and villains could team without facing ganking in a PvP zone - and it also seems obvious to me that such would have been more fitting in Pocket D, so I wouldn't mind that change.

I think I would mind re-gating RWZ though. I like how we don't have to worry about levels much anymore for certain zones, I can't tell you how often I've teamed and run into the "Let's all go to zone x! Oh wait, so-n-so's only level 25, not high enough" type of situations. Sure sure, we can and have adapted and found something else to do, but it feels nice to have the choice. But taking your level 4 toon into such a place is sort of silly.

You almost beat me to my joke:
"Why is the male walk so feminine? "
    "Because we're all FABULOUS!"

I have to admit the female one looks a touch provocative. Then again, so far I've only really checked it out on female toons, especially my "full figured" panda stalker...

From time to time I still manage to knock-back a foe into some non-Euclidean/Lovecraftian fold in space, leaving only his feet visible, rending him unattackable except by AoEs. Every time that happens, I recall about this "I wish to be able to construct my own maps" thing, and think "no you don't."

    slooow MA

Opening up the MA stirkes me like opening up the Black Market, it's always a slow starter. For me though, once the screen finally loads up, it moves along pretty quickly, I've never had the problems you described.

Might be a good idea to try moving to an under-populated zone and doing your MA work there (assuming you're in a currently populated zone when you have this problem).
  20. I'd like to thank Doc Aeon for doing this. I gather this game's devs are already "closer to the community" than just about any other MMO and things like this thread just add to that.

Next time I'll bring the marshmallows!
  21. Assuming I have time tomorrow when I get home from work - and this thread isn't swarming with a billion replies - I'll see what I can come up with.
  22. Quick update:

After getting side tracked with the Halloween event and waiting for the Player Awards to end, I've updated DayJob Hell, based on all the great feedback I got from the voters in said awards (which it only placed fourth in, but I was still very glad to be in it at all - just look at the number of plays my just-published arc got).

There will probably be a tad bit more tinkering here and there, but just small things like a word here and there in the text (unless a very particular map shows up finally :P) - so what are you waiting for? Give it a spin and have fun!
  23. What's in the works regarding XP in the MA?

First after redname - second today, must be my lucky day here.
