Quote:This is why you look to the forums to find arcs worth playing - like down there in my sig is a good low level arc (DayJob Hell)for villains who'd like to avoid some of the snake missions; it's guaranteed to be snake free....because the real missions are buried among the farms and the ones loaded to the brim with AVs & Elite Bosses with custom power sets for the 'challenge'. :/
Personally I prefer redside because of the 'old world charm' of the architecture. -
Quote:Indeed, I'm pretty sure they even stated it was just a temporary thing until they could code up their 'real solution', but few people seem to remember that. Can't let stuff get in the way of a good complaining, after all.The i17 announcement includes mention to AE improvements, so hopefully they're addressing this situation. They're well aware that the current method of granting XP isn't making anyone happy.
I propose that anyone complaining about MA XP before the new improvements are announced and laid out for us - what's what, solid numbers, etc. - gets poked with the troll stick. -

Quote:She obviously doesn't read these forums, huh? Finally! I've been waiting months to reroll an existing character and get those costume parts!
Oh, and to express my love for my wife.
Myself, I'm not all that jazzed to do it again. I don't really need the costume parts and what with my time being limited to pay ('that darn GF!' excuse here), a heck of a lot of my time is just spent working on my MA arcs. Maybe I'll get to run one or two of the missions at some point, but if not, I can't think I'd miss it. Of all the events, it's my least fave, really. -
It's never happened to me, but I hear they give you a 'token' for a free renaming.

There is no image macro or emoticon for what I am feeling at the release of this news.

Quote:I was thinking of making a Dual Pistols Defender come GR - my character concept says she's a cop so she'd have to be a bluesider, right? - but I think you just talked me out of it. I've enjoyed every Corr I've made so far, I'm starting to wonder why I should switch to a Def now...I would still disagree though that heroes are better for teaming. Specifically because they specialize in things that have a virtual cap, where there's no point in having more of it. Defenders and Tankers (which are two of my least favorite ATs) specialize in things that cap quickly: team support and tanking. Consider a situation where your redside team has enough of both of those things, which is pretty easy to do, speaking from experience. Now what would you gain from replacing a Brute with a Tanker? If he's already staying alive and holding aggro just fine, nothing. In fact, you'd lose a significant amount of damage. Same goes for replacing a support toon who can already keep his team alive with a support toon who does less damage.
Or, as I like to say, redside has gotten along just fine without ever needing higher buff or tank numbers, and we have the hardest content around. So why would we suddenly start needing Defenders and Tankers?
I prefer redside ATs because they're all damage-centric, while really only two of the blueside ATs care about damage. So no matter who I invite to a redside team, they're dealing damage. All the redside ATs do their other jobs well enough that there's no point in any of them specializing in things if that specialization means they lose in other departments (damage being the most common thing to lose).
I think villains make fine teams. In fact, nearly all of my most powerful teams have been run with villains, because Brutes and Corruptors are just that awesome. Doms these days are pretty snazzy too. Though honestly, I'm waiting for GR so I can make teams of Brutes, Scrappers, Doms, Blasters, Corruptors, and Controllers.
That's just one person's opinion though. -
Does anyone have anything to say about an FF/AR defender?
I know we can't make solid guesses here yet, but I'm thinking to make an FF/Dual Pistols Def when GR hits because I've never run a Def past about 10th and I've never run anything FF.
Assuming that DP isn't too outlandishly different from DP (I know about the ammo-switch power and all though), I was thinking that might give me some ground to start pondering this choice from. However I didn't see a guide for FF/AR listed...
So, any thoughts? -

i17: Ponies That Sneeze Kittens and Cookies

I've found a few good insp's and chance-for-knockdown to be a life safer on more than one squishy stalker. Probably a good plan for any squishy.
Anymore, I try to make sure my Insp tray is full with a good selection before I hop into any MA mish, "just in case". I'm really glad they put that vendor on the floor up there. -
Quote:Seconded, I love the community this game has. It's clear to me that VidiotMaps.com and Badge-Hunter.com are two of the most used and most respected sites in the CoX community. The fact that you come in here quickly and personally to assure everyone of the sites' well-being speaks volumes and characterizes the well-placed faith people have in the sites.
Thanks for doing what you do so well. -
Off the top of my head, there are a few maps of the offices with holes in the floor that lead into some caves and sewers. Most maps are not a mix'n'match though. I'd like to see more of those too.

Didn't I read a couple of years back that the devs were never ("never") going to do any more redside-only content? Something was said about any new content was always going to be content both sides could use, because (I presume) they didn't want there to be content that skipped half the player base (not that it's evenly split, really).

I had thought about it. I was thinking of some kind of comedy arc where he loses his powers and tried making a living at more mundane work like driving an ice cream truck, but every job keeps going bad and he finally comes to the player and begs them to help him get his powers back or something.
Maybe a part clown, the chance to dress him up in silly outfits and assaulted by kids would have been interesting.
But... I already had an arc in the planning stages that could easily fit this theme so I'm going with that idea instead. If anyone wants to use my Statesman idea, they're welcome to it. -
This has been driving me nuts. Denver this year was off to a nice cold and snowy start but then about Jan 10th or so it all stopped. Our last snow fell just before Christmas and the time of year (Jan 10th) when we normally experience our coldest temperatures, we were in the 50s and dry as a bone. And this effectivly has yet to change as well.
So I cast a bolded bah humbug! on this thread as I love winter weather! GIVE IT BAAAAAACK!!! -

I have no less than 4 toons I'm thinking of creating when Going Rogue hits (for some reason, I'm really stoked for dual pistols).
I'm always coming up with names for "my next toon", only about a fifth of which I ever use.
I have only 2 fifties, four forties, 6 or so thirties, same number of twenties, teens and single digit-level toons.
I play across them all depending on what mood I'm in (altho I rarely ever touch my fifties).
No need to worry about "too many vets". -
Quote:Oh you son of a leech, now I do have to try for it!Just to clarify, it has to be written that the character is a known hero or villain. Meaning that you could use Recluse, Mako, Statesman, etc. or you can use a character of your own creation, so long as their background is that they're a known hero or villain.
(I'm kind of curious why the word "known" was used in the first place now, but no biggie.)
I also wonder though if there are any caveats to this theme, like how last time some arcs were disqualified for "giving the player the choice to do the evil or not". Like, oh, I dunno, "the loss of superpowers has to be permanent" or something.
Regardless, I'm now taking a look at my nebulous notes for my possible entry and seeing if I can shape it to fit. -
-
Quote:Assuming so, that kills my possible entry. I have one I've been plotting for months now (slow worker here, yah...) that would have actually fit this theme, in a round about way. Oh well, I probably wouldn't have been able to finish the darn thing by that date anyways.By "known" hero or villain you are talking about established NPC characters ingame, correct?
