    The Boot Myth

    Another "not healer" story:

My bots/dark got invited to a team and I could tell right quick there was going to be trouble based on the way the guy was recruiting and what he said he was looking for. When he saw I "wasn't a healer" he was disappointed and seemed about ready to kick me. I told him I had a heal and Heal Other but that didn't phase him. After some minutes of him searching and not finding what he wanted (I can't recall but I'd guess a /kin), he quit the group of four he'd built up.

I can't say I shed too many tears over that.
  2. Down about a third of the way on this page you can find some good advice:

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Mission_...t_Custom_Units

I've been following these rules ever since I found them and so far so good. I really should go back over my first two arcs with these in mind (not that they were big failures or anything).

EDIT: oh yeah, and about halfway down are some tips on ones to avoid. It's a pretty good thing to read in its entirety, really.
  3. In that case, I'll drop my arc Against The WickerWork Khan!.

Fairly short 3-mission arc, easy to solo (I did so with a level 25 stalker) and chock full of fun-looking customs. It's probably my most accessible arc to date as I made it mainly to be a showcase for those customs.
  4. For me, it's usually the last one I just made. As a whole though, I'd have to say the WickerWork enemy group (see sig), although I wish I could have had more costume options/body sliders when I designed the Khan himself. I also ended up liking the look of the Princess from that arc so much I used her for a stalker and will probably make a DP of her too.

That's one thing I really like about the AE system is making customs. I get so many ideas for toons that I'll never get to play them all (seriously - I keep lists...), but I can use them in arcs so that they see the light of day.
  5. I love you Detroit!!

    What, this is Duluth?!

This write-up does look pretty balanced, yah. Seems I keep following links to other ones (can't all recall where) and they're either over obsessing about the age of the game or overlooking obvious strengths, such as us wonderful forumites. u.u

Seconding this. I was going to run it with a low level 'troller I have until I realized he didn't even have an attack yet, other than vet rewards! I don't fault this arc for that, it's just the way low levels work for some of the hero ATs (and why I used a stalker instead). Anyone who'd take a squishie like my troller in and then complain is being sorta silly, imho.

EDIT: wow, thanks for all the noms. That's so nice.
We're supposed to find out who wins tomorrow or so. As for all the nominations you got,
    1) I think people tend to only remember things "off the top of their head" they played a week or so ago when this sort of thing pops up.

    2) It is however the best single mish arc I have played.

Now our lead dev is War Witch who isn't even in the image!

This is obviously symbolism meant to imply the fading interest in the game and the loss of interest by the devs. This is a message by the devs themselves that they no longer care about the game! The game will be shut down within the year, and this is PROOF! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Improper use of DOOOOOM, you're not basing said claim upon a clearly personal or ignorant opinion. Not that this "fact" should be considered to carry any weight of course, but it is a "fact".

That brings up my concern: I'd like to nom MCM's arc "Storming Citadel", but I don't feel right in doing so yet since that contest isn't over yet.

Consider this my nom (nom nom nom) once that is announced however, assuming MCM's arc doesn't win.
  12. Storming Citadel (ID#379488) by @MrCaptainMan is brand new, created for Doctor A's latest challenge and is wonderfully simple: one ma, ten minute timer, heroes levels 5-10. Any new heroes I run will be going through this at the proper levels as I've seen most of the lower level content enough and it's so dang quick, no long term commitment to some huge arc here.
  13. No harm no foul dude.

I played it with a stalker because right now he's the only toon I have that I felt like running who's low level. I think I have only two heroes at that level - one a controller with no solid attacks yet other that vet rewards and the other just didn't strike me a toon I want to play; it's a year old and still at like 8 I think so that should tell you something. Still, I like your arcs and you've been kind to mine so I'll be happy to comply with your wish on this in the future.

If it's any consolation, it's stalker I'm planning to take blueside come GR.

Oh and that was just a couple of vodkas?! I'd hate to see you really drunk!
  14. I'm so glad I played this arc.

Nice pun on the challenge idea and a cute, well executed idea overall.

The best part is how it's so short - that alone should net you a ton of plays; I know I'm putting it on my list for every new toon to play so I can avoid repeating the low level content for the nth time. I was able to finish it without too much watching the clock and sweating. Of course, using a stalker might have been cheating just a little.

    Great stuff overall as usual.

Spear - Ranged, Minor Damage (Lethal)
Call Velociraptor - Summon 1-3 Velociraptors
Poison Spear - Ranged Minor Damage (Lethal) Foe -Dmg, Foe -Rech
Encourage - Ranged Equip Dinosaur Henchman
Rain of Spears - Ranged (Cone) Moderate Damage (Lethal) Foe: Knockdown
Call Allosaurus - Summon 1-2 Allosauruses
Dino Swarm - Summons a swarm of approximately 10 velociraptors.
    Call Tyrannosaur - Summon Tyrannosaur
Empower - Ranged Upgrade Dinosaur Henchman
But what would a 'ranged dinosaur attack' be, spitting poison? Still, kind of a neat idea, right up there with sharks with head-mounted lasers.

    Any ideas?

I got one too, but the number of plays hadn't gone up (two so far). Maybe they have a way of playing without it registering? No idea, really. As for being official-sounding, it was from Doc A himself.

    No. Nothing that grand.

They did it for the lulz.

  22. I just put that same map in my newest arc. I have to admit I didn't watch the nav text as closely as I should have, but I do suspect that map's a touch buggy because the last time I ran through it a collection I had set for 'back' actually showed up within a hundred yards of the entry. :P
  23. Here's the low-down on my arc:

    Heroic
    4 Missions
Description: Your friendship with the mysterious deceased hero known only as Dead 6 lead a villain to go straight after losing his superpowers. When you meet that man later, you and he recount your brief contact with Dead 6, perhaps to honor him in a way. [Ignore the scary orange text down there, trust me]

More info can be found in the thread I just created for it too.

  24. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As of October 3rd, this arc has been updated a little and submitted for the the new Dr. Aeon contest, seeing as how it fits this theme as well. It never got much play to begin with anyways. I've upped the range to 5th to 15th level as well - which is still probably a death sentence in the age of GR, but so be it.

    A Wake For Dead 6
    @Clave Dark 5
    #379160
    Levels 5 through 15
    Solo Friendly, Complex Mechanics, Drama
    Heroic
    Long(ish)
    4 Missions
Council, Spectral Pirates, Security Guards, (a couple of custom bosses, but don't let that scare you)
Description: Your friendship with the mysterious hero known only as Dead 6 lead a villain to go straight after losing his superpowers. Maps are mostly small. The first is a defeat-all, but it's anything but a chore.

I've had the idea of this character floating around for some time, then decided I'd make an arc with him... someday. Then along came this challenge and it fit fairly closely so I altered it a little and here it is. I had some fun framing the story in an unusual fashion, and I'm interested to see what you think.

I've just finished spell-checking it and I hope it all saved (grrr!). Feel free to let me know about any slip-ups anywhere, including the use of past tense; you'll know what I mean when you play it.

Besides, it's always fun bashing DOOMers, because they've never been right yet.

And I'm sure it's fun to be a DOOMer too because if you keep saying it enough, sooner or later it will come true and then you can take comfort in your superior Cassandra-like insight.
