Quote:Ah, but if the new guy survives, then he's good to go!Nothing is wrong with Freedom, per se.
I think the advice is meant along the lines of, "Okay, it's your first visit to America. Let's drop you in the middle of Times Square during rush hour and see how it goes."
Personally I started on a fairly slow server (espcially during the night hours) and was so glad when I got to Freedom to find people about at 3 AM, but by then I did have some good idea about what I was doing. I'd think too though that hopping into the maelstrom of Freedom wold be a good "quick tutorial", plus he may find a good helpful player to show him the ropes. -

Quote:And I got my wish!Hey, I've found something to ask for!
I'd really like to have the map of the Mercy sewer works plant. If memory serves, it's in the Dr. Creed arc. It's a nice, sizable map, it unique and yet we only see it once (which I suppose might explain why it's unique, eh?). It would be perfect for my third arc (see sig) and I was disappointed to see it wasn't available.
This must change!
I've been meaning to send a thank you to the devs for this... -
Quote:I think you were about to volunteer to set up one of those small sites with "editors" to weed out the crap and to push the "editor-chosen arcs" that are good, to let us all know what to play and like. There were huge FTP sites full of crap, sure, but there were far fewer, and far more interesting, small sites full of tested and quality-controlled project.
Where was I going with this? -
Wow but some of you guys eat or drink stuff I'd never touch...
Coffee, black, for me. -

Quote:"Oh sure, you can hide behind your computer screen and rag on StiltMan all you want, but in person he's really really scary... being all tall and stuff..."No more uber powerful sidekicks or instances of the game's versions of Toad or Stilt Man taking on big groups of seasoned level 50 heroes.
I do support the idea, but at this point it aint gonna happen, everything's already set up and done (unless the new 'endgame content' somehow magically changes things). When I first started this game I had to readjust my ideas of what a superhero story would be too, can't recall it ever being about going around and beating up tons of nameless foes. -
Could be an epic pool for villains too. I kind of like the idea...

I believe that if you give a foe flight, their standard pose is still to be standing on the ground. From my own experiences, I think that ambushes are more likely to fly in than just run, but I could be wrong; that was awhile back so you might want to check into that to see if my memory's correct or not.
As for your allies question? "Not that I know of", sorry. :/ -

Thanks for the play and review.
I've been going over my old arcs and making some changes what with the new XP stuff, and this one's had a bit of work done. Your comments will help direct me where I can make more improvements, thank you!
Oh, by the way, the best way I've found you can skip the allies by doing something like running away far and fast enough until you get the "Hey, where'd you go?" comment; ninja run is great for that. -
I seem to recall we had a thread about that already, but not much came of it. :/
I'll second your suggestion while I'm at it, too. -
Well, I'm hard-put to designate mine as I have two I'm rather proud of (well, three, but anyways).
The one I'd choose as being the best story would be DayJob Hell (see sig). Unfortunately it's for lowbie villains; taking your Corr or Brute through it might be a PITA as you feel the weight of lost powers and Stamina. On the other hand, it probably is my best as it was nominated in a couple of the player-run contests (never won though).
So, if the level-loss doesn't faze you, there it is, thanks for considering it. -
Quote:Seconded. Heck, I keep finding uses for stuff I don't think I'll need, maybe a fish head could be useful!Posting in an Epic Thread.
If it makes people feel any better none of my characters really need a Fish Head, and I don't have a concept in mind to use it.
My point is More Choice Is Better and I'd like to see us keep parity with Champions Online as far as non-human heads go. -

I can't really think of any toon I have who needs another slot, but I'll vote for this anyways. So many people wanting it, so many open wallets... it's just too good to pass up.

1) How often do you PuG instead of grouping within your SG or friends?
Almost always. I only have two friends (from RL) in the game and I don't run into them too often, maybe once out of five times playing.
2) How often do you group with friends and fill the rest of the group with PuGs?
Don't think we ever have. A small group is be fine too.
3) How often do your PuG members do what you feel needs to be done without being told to do so?
Pretty much always, it's been awhile since I ended up playing with a fool or two.
4) How often do you find yourself telling PuG members what you feel they should be doing (for the good of the current team/session)?
I'm generally restricted to saying something like "yikes! I think we need to pull here" and that's about it and not that often either.
5) How often do you find yourself adding PuG members to your friends/global friends, and if those lists are full, using other methods of remembering them?
Altitis keeps me from bothering.
6) How often do you group with complete jerks in a PuG?
Once in a blue moon, I rarely run into jerks. -
Quote:I'm on my first Shields toon ever and I wanted to take it just so I can someday go back to Atlas and pop gray-cons unto the horizon. Then I found out how useful it is solo, so I would second these suggestions. You should consider the benefits of Repulsion Field. I swear by it on my solo builds. It's just too useful to have enemies on their back more than half the time without you having to do ANYTHING but turn on a toggle. Example.

Quote:I'm working on my first-ever defender to get past level 5, who's a DP/Shields and have yet to get the dreaded "y u not healz us?" stuff (but I'm only at 21st so far). The best PUG I've been on I just played today, some guy there had a something-sonic, me with my shields, we stood up to just about anything the game could throw at us and not one jot was said about healing that day.More often than not I actually get more invites and positive receptions playing shielders/buffers than a "healer" powerset. I think the world of IO's and softcapping opened a lot of players eyes.
I honestly can't remember that last time I was frowned at for blasting if ever at all.
That said, it is quite embarrassing to admit that when I saw a player's health-bar shrink into the red I felt some kind of... urge to heal them.I blame that on having so many other toons that have some sort of heal such as my MMs, an Empathy troller I have, etc.

My first impulse would have been magic, but reading the thread, I think I lean towards natural now.

One guy in this thread felt that even the "minor graphics" ruined some screen shots he was taking. I'm not in that camp, myself, but I can see why some people might be bothered by things like that.
