    Fixed that for you.

And fortunately not all players think like you do.
  2. I do on occasion, depending on the tank's style. My current FF/DP 'fender is doing it at the very beginning, as the tank is often targeting someone quite nearby his agro-pile - perfect time to let loose with the AoEs. After that, I'll start targeting the higher-con foes to keep them slowed with cryo ammo for instance. Or I might just decide to keep that ranged foe who's standing off to the side slowed.

So it's kind of a situational, "depends on what's happening" sort of thing for me.

    Traps/DP halp

Check in the corruptor forums for some Traps guides, altho the post above me lays out some good stuff.
  4. I'm currently working up an FF/DPistols and have had something of the same role on teams. I've found the cryo or chem rounds to be pretty useful when I drop my AoEs. FF is just an all-round good sent for Defenders from what I've seen, if you know what you're doing.

    AoE lawnmowers

Fire/X Corrs seem to get mentioned in this thread a lot, and for good reason. My Fire/Traps was pretty good with his Fire AoEs. I imagine pairing him with anyone else who has decent AoEs (and maybe more debuffs) would make a for a killer combo.

Plus it's pure energy (iirc) and that tends to not be so heavily resisted.

It's Un-Fun to the point where I boycotted arcs with custom mobs for quite some time.

For minions, a simple mix of straight attacks seems best, with LT's a special trick or two.
I was just going to say that about Dark powers. Yeah, in numbers they really hurt. The rule about minions and Lts. seems to work pretty well in my experience too.

  9. No.

    (never regret it either)
  10. Well, as usual, I'm easily suggestible by threads on these forums so I made a WM/Electric brute. Then again, I tend to spawn alts like a cat spawns fur; not all of them ever get followed through on so we'll see what happens here. My latest alts have all had the problem of being pretty team-based which is sort of rough when you tend to play at 2 AM so I was thinking this would be a good solo toon.

After creating my toon I took him for a quick spin round the areas of Mercy near the base and did find him to be working out pretty well already. Tonight I expect I'll get a chance to get in some quality bashing time.

I'm not sure if I should thank you guys for giving me the excuse to make another alt or not...
  11. /Nin is always the best secondary a stalker can have. Altho this story my weigh your attitude towards stalkers being single targeters....

I was duoing with a friend, an MM of some sort, with my DB/Nin stalker. We were running his missions and hit the one where you take down that Crey lady... I'm foggy on the details of the mish, but anyways, we went into the room, she's an EB or something, conning red to me...

And my friend dies, told me he'd stupidly forgotten his toggles or something like that.

So there I am, here comes the Crey lady and maybe half a dozen other Crey baddies. Caltrops kept most of them from teaming up on me all at once (and by that level my toon could get two active patches out at a time), I used Placate+AS and the /Nin heal whenever available, whatever the /Nin set calls it MoG (I can never remember that), etc. Basically I used my secondary for everything it was worth while I cutcutcut at anyone foolish enough to let me get close to them. My friend just laid there on the floor all through it, expecting me to be toast at any second. It took a few intense minutes of playing and most of my Insp's (it seemed like Crey lady was never going to die, I swear...), but I was able to take them all down without dying. It was one of the more fun scarpperlock moments I've had in this game.

AV soloers and their ilk out there probably sneer at this story, but you have to understand this comes from a player who doesn't play thier way; I also don't use Mids to squeeze out every last fraction of a percent (I'm old enough to be out of school, no more homework for me dammit). My toon had some IOs, but not tons and certainly not the horribly expensive ones (and certainly not the "well planned sets" version of "having IOs" either).

So - "stalkers, can they scrap?" Yup.

Thank goodness! A forum once bit my sister...

3 Do you have any suggestions as to how I can make the City of Heroes experience feel more social, friendly, and more like an M.M.O.R.P.G rather than a mental abuse machine?
Numbers added to help keep this clear.

1 - I find different things to focus on for awhile. I get into writing AE arcs, then I go stir-crazy because I'm not playing any toons so I quit writing and go do that. I play the markets for a bit then get tired of that because I'm not actually playing any toons and I go do that instead. Also, I'm still having great fun designing new toons' costumes and playing power sets I haven't before.

2 - Skipping the usual low level arcs and going for AE is a splendid idea (please, check out my sig! ). Also, maybe joining an SG that can SK you to their level wouldn't be a bad idea.

3 - SGs can be good for that. If you're not already, try playing on a busier server such as Freedom or Virtue. Other than that, try and actually meet folk, find the talkers and the good players and try to see them again, I guess. I kind of have a problem with this aspect myself, due to my erratic schedule.

    Hope this helps.

Wow but this system does need some reworking, that's a pretty shocking figure.
  15. No screenshots on hand, but my stalker (a female) still has her 'baggy jeans-style pants' on her first costume slot. I'd really like to see those come back.

And that shoulder fur option looked great too, although I understand it created too many clipping issues or something???
  16. Clave_Dark_5

    I found it!

No matter what, that's still not going to keep people from trying it out for themselves.

And thanks be to my seven lucky stars for that!

You did a wonderful job on this Soul Storm, I really appreciate the time and effort that went into it, especially after you asked me what I wanted and I just sort of shrugged and said "I'uhknow..." I apologize for that and I'm more than pleased with what you came up with, big thanks again.

If anyone cares to examine the poster in it's natural habit - my thread for this arc - feel free to check it out here:

  18. Hello again, just dropping a note that Soul Storm has come up with a great poster for my arc, as you can now see at the top of the thread. And it only cost me a billion inf! (just kidding, the magnificent fellow did it for FREE) You can find a thread about his poster offerings right here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=181570 Drop by and take a look, they're great stuff.

The only bad bit of news about it that I have is that I haven't had the chance to get this arc's custom enemies rebalanced for the new XP system, my time for the game has been pretty short of late. Fear not, that's my next project the second I can sign in again for more than five minutes, which means probably this weekend. But if the XP doesn't bother you, please give it a try before then and enjoy the customs.

I second the idea that an unfinished Clave Dark 5 arc is still better than 52,000 other arcs!

    Eco.
You might think differently if you played my current published WiP. :P It's playable, but possibly not worth it.

If made right under the new guidance, you can still aim high and have an Arc that is very much able to be completed by anyone.
Pretty much this for me, "as close to 100% as I can get without stupid powers" like BU. I haven't retro-fitted all my arcs yet, but I'm working on it.
  21. I've found hitting the PvP zones on any server at 5 AM protects me pretty well.
  22. Sounds like that toon is a real phlegm-thrower.

The Clave Dark 5s of the world probably don't want you playing their arc yet anyway (I wouldn't, if it was my arc that wasn't done yet) and the other 52,000 arcs are mostly stuff you probably don't want to play.
Indeed, I always put something in the arc description like "NOT FINISHED! (but if you really feel you have to try it out, please drop me some feedback)."

...not to mention that some people (such as myself) like to publish an arc once we get the basic mechanics hammered out so that we can earn tickets while play-testing it and adjusting the text.

Based on my experience, probably the reverse. I normally play redside but I've lately been working up a defender and every time I walk into the market I end up with an "OMG I can sell this for that much?!" face. And I mean on everything, dud recipes aside.

    Edit: I forgot! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOM!
