  1. Welcome back! Don't forget about Paragonwiki:

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

If you can think of a question about something, it's probably addressed there.
  2. I may be wrong, but I think that when you try and type in a "The" at the first of your name it auto erases because of the (useless) option to choose a "the".
  3. Seeing as how I have maybe three decent hero toons, not all that much. My current toon is a FF/DP defender, an alien cop who's come to Earth; turns out she has a food allergy that makes her turn evil sometimes though... she even has an evil costume ready!
  4. I play the game. If I think of it, I'll pop in a cd and play that while PUGing.

At one time I used to spend a lot of time playing the markets to the extent that I often was only logging in for that. Later I got bored of it and got back into playing to beat up the bad (or good) guys.

When AE was new I spent a lot of time creating and testing missions, then it became too much like homework so for the time being I'm letting that sit and going back to beating up my foes.

I imagine when I get tired of that I'll go back to the AE because I still have ideas yet unused and a few missions to update for the new settings.

    Hope this helps.
  5. I'm trying to clear slots of low level alts I never ended up playing, even though they'd probably be awesome, like an Ice/Dark Corr who's still only at level 7, about six alts ago. If they can't pick up steam by now, they're probably going to need to be cut, sadly. Then comes the hard part of cutting some that are up to at least 30 but whom I just don't ever play anymore... that's going to hurt I bet.

But then! FREE SLOTS! And yet... I'm currently sort of working on two toons, and really don't want to lose them to altitis too, so I may hold off creating anyone new.

But who am I kidding? I know I have one stalker I want to run through the new material and take blueside, a blaster to do the same with and then take red... I think I'll try and stop with that. :P
  6. Didn't this map suffer from "It's in! Oops, never mind, we had to take it out. It's in! Oops, never mind, we had to take it out again" vacillation?
  7. Grats! I hope it stays there too!
  8. Everyone's so helpful, as always, thanks for the advice! Next chance I get to log on, I'm keeping this thread in the background. Now if I can just remember how to get to Crey's Folly...

I do still wish to repeat it was a buzzkill for me though, to keep the thread on track.
  9. Woo, I just found a new one - go CoH. :/

I rarely play blueside and I just had my defender hit 30 a couple of days ago. "Hey, I should go do the missions for the auras and new costume slot."

So I go see the City Council lady in Atlas, who sends me to the scientist who says "go take down some Freakshow!" and I'm all like "... ok, where?" Seems I'm penalized for not having memorized blueside now and knowing where to find foes where; it didn't help that ParagonWiki was down, too. I ended up looking for those random=spawn single Freaks in groups of Family in IP, which took a long time.

"Now go take down some Rikti!" Time for this face --->

Redside, they at least suggest a map ("go beat up some Family on Sharkhead!"). I decided it might be time for bed anyways.

Really, why would anyone want to go to blueside from red come GR when you have to deal with stuff like this?

but that's me. I like clicking buttons, not getting lost on my keyboard and risking hitting R accidentally.
  11. When I was leveling up my Bots/Dark MM, I had just gotten a few Bird and the Bee CD's. If you've heard them, you might be able to see how they could fit a darkity-dark evil teenage girl and her army of bots...

But that was months ago. These days? Depends on if I want to bother popping in a CD or not. If I do, it's whatever I bought recently(ish) and feel like listening to, moreso than "what's right for the game or this here toon".

This is about my current list:

High Places (anything of theirs as I seem to have it all now)
Kid Koala (I only have one right now, "Some Of My Best Friends Are DJs")
St. Vincent "Actor" (goes well with Bird and the Bee and Regina Spektor, whom I was listening to right after I moved on from my MM)

I've never thought to compare the two number-wise, but Nerva must be much less "long" than Indy Port. I can't recall once going into IP without grimacing while traversing it (one of the things that put me off TP for good, btw), yet I have never minded the Nerva north hops.

Perfect example of what makes redside so much better (in my opinion, yes) than blue.
  13. I'm not moving any of my redside toons that I can think of, I barely play blue as it is. I'm currently working on an FF/DP defender though and I'll probably take her redside for a bit just for the fun of it. I have been thinking about making a stalker in GR and making him blue though - once again, just for the fun of it.

I prefer red to blue a lot because I do think it feels "plasticy", not to mention all the low level "go to that map, now come back! Now go over there, now come back!" grates.
  14. The slow play of a lowbie toon, especially if it's something of a support class AT. I play at oddball hours and sometimes I end up playing on lower population servers. This morning I was on a nice new DP/Dark Corr on Pinnacle at about 10 AM my time. I had just hopped over to Port Oaks and tried a /search - there was one other player in the zone. That toon can solo fine, but a solo "semi-support" toon low levels tends to make for the slowest playing CoH has to offer. Some days that's just too slow for me.

Because it doesn't have any, right?
  16. I'd totally forgotten about player notes even until I saw them mentioned here. If I PUG with some bad players today, whoops, cat's on fire, gotta run. When I PUG tomorrow, my chances of meeting them again are about nil, far as I can tell. If it's someone broadcasting idiocy, nine times out of ten I find someone else shoots them down publicly before I can even type in a response; I think I've all of once put someone like that on ignore.

Life's too short to worry about the idiots.

'cause they each fill very different roles that satisfy whatever I'm feeling like playing at a particular moment (which changes now and again, mind you).
That was pretty much behind my previous post in this thread. If I really really had to go back and make that choose just one... I think I'd die. If this game had a clear choice for me, I think I'd have stopped playing by now.

What happened to Martial Arts was that the three were all rolled into one smooth action, with the pose flowing into the attack by skipping the pause altogether. Look at things like Crane Kick and Cobra Strike and you can still catch the pose-hold-strike structure that they used to have.

I don't envision losing the Assassin's Strike animations at all. I envision losing the dead air pauses and possibly speeding up the posing stages somewhat. You can shave half the duration off those powers without losing almost anything, and that's just by cutting the pre-hit and after-hit pauses. At the very least Assassin's Blade has what feels like a full second of dead air after the attack while the character ever so slowly reassumes combat stance.

What's more, I feel like elaborate yet fast and smooth attack used more often in battle would add much more to the aesthetics of the sets that have than the current more deliberate versions do, because you see them so very rarely, at least as compared to most other powers.
This is exactly what I was thinking as well, you put it very well.
  19. I have two 50s. One's my Kat/Regen scrapper, the other is my DB/Nin stalker. I leveled up the stalker before the stalker-buffs were introduced, so that should tell you something about how much fun I had playing that toon. I still drag them out from time to time to test arcs, maybe grind for kewl l00t on occasion, but I can't really say I "play them" anymore.

Obviously I favor the run-into-the-crowd-and-chop-away sort of playing, but I've also greatly enjoyed my Bots/Dark too, sadly claimed by altitis at the tender age of 47th level. (Hm, maybe it's time I dig out that DB/WP brute and get him past 31st too)

I also really enjoy playing support on a large team too, I feel a tad less pressure to hang back, buff/debuff and fire from a distance; the current example is my FF/DP defender.

Since I can't really pick just one (it seems), this may tell you while I'm still here playing this game.

    So... Stalkers.

I think the idea of making AS near-instant (and adding the time to recharge) is a great idea! Stalkers rarely get to use it on teams when they start to roll along, so it would help teaming a great deal. Doing the same to Placate's not a bad idea either.

    So... Stalkers.

I just had a thought regarding the "chance for dropping back into stealth based on chance after an attack": any time that happens, you KNOW it will be when you already had Placate lined up (you know, how you click on a power while another is activating so it will go off immediately after). That would be annoying.

I find this is the main problem with my name-sake, who's currently (still) a stalker at 35. I have like, what now, 6, 7 attacks? including vets rewards and I end up standing there... standing there... ok, there's one back now...

    I know they upped the recharge times for a reason and all, but I think they made bad choices and made it the least fun to play of any I've tried. And I like my stalker! ;_;

I like this idea. I also like the idea of pumping up the ST effects/damage - that gets right to the heart of what Stalkers were meant to be from the get-go. There are a lot of good ideas in this thread. You guys are making me want to make another stalker, as if I need more alts...
