Quote:/macro TN target_enemy_nearSomething I often yell at the monitor:
"How 'bout you target the guy RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!" (as Tab targets a mob on the other side of the room instead of the Syndicate Sword Master turning my character into a shish kebab)

This is why I gave up trying t fit his narrow definition of "fun arc" and just did what I wanted to with mine. Still haven't finished it yet though, it needs some revision in the writing. :P

My 31-or-so FF/DP defender. This may be related to being DP but wow, what an anemic character!
Personally, I'm guessing it's the Defender class (she's my first to get past 10th) and the fact I normally only play redside where everyone has damage potential.
If GR hadn't come along, I might have been able to stick to her and keep leveling, but I now have a stable of like 5 new toons (dom, scrapper, stalker, tank&brute-also a first for me), all of whom are much more exciting to me to play. -
It's probably a waste of a slot, but I've had fun with the Energy Manipulator: chance to stun proc slotted in mine. Very cheap and easily obtained at even the lowest of levels.

Agreed.
Back when the RWZ mothership raid was introduced, I could walk into the zone and get invited to do it, do it, then immediately get invited to another team for it. These days people actually have to schedule a time to get others to show up for it - insanity!! Does that make Rikti Mothership raids dead? No.
Plus right now everyone's all over Praetoria starting up a ton of new toons. New toons and AE don't mix quite as well as custom foes tend to be tougher.
The issue with "the same ol arcs at the top" is something we've complained to the devs about a number of times, in regards to ratings-griefing and the lack of Hall-Of_fame achievement due to the same. We can only hope those complaints haven't fallen on deaf ears... -
Quote:Fixed for truth.- Brick on a Stick Melee has been proliferated to Stalkers. The tier 4 AoE power has been replaced with Assassin's Brick On A Stick and the mezz effects tier 5 power has been replaced by Placate. The other AoE power, at tier 6, has been replaced by Build Up.
Very funny stuff! -

Playing a petless MM and a non-perma Dom are two very different things; one is inherently gimped as it goes against the grain of it's most basic design, the Dom is not.
That said, I'd agree that it doesn't have to be expensive to play a Dom.I'd also say it doesn't have to be perma nor even 50 to be effective and fun (I almost never play my 50s, for one thing).
The opinions you hear on these forums and in the game are often at the extreme outer edges of how things really work, such as "Stalkers are useless" or "Dom have to be perma and 50", so quoting them isn't really forwarding your argument too much for me; granted, they do exist, but so do people who think the moon landing was faked.
Still, I liked everything above the "Now you've been told" part.Doms are a blast at any level and any reasonable build, perma or not.

I'm working on a new scrapper, MA/SR and I need some advice about the Fighting power pool. I'll phrase this in the form of questions to make it easier:
1) I see people mostly taking Boxing in their builds instead of the Kick - why is this? With my scrapper being MA, I was thinking the Kick would be more thematically fitting. I also thought I heard some time ago that it's not the rottenly useless power it used to be. The silliness of the animation is not an issue to me.
2)Tough and Weave - what kind of slotting works for them? "As much as you can fit" or just the beginning slot? I think I've only taken them on one toon before this one so I really know very little about them.
Any other thoughts on these would be cool too. -
Quote:This was my first thought.I think the biggest thing for me is -----> I HAVE A FREE POWER POOL TO SELECT<-----
Only on a few toons have I ever not taken 4 power pools and many times I'm torn between 2.
My second thought is how some toons don't start to feel fleshed out powers-wise until about 25th level because I had to "interrupt" their power-gaining path to take Swift/Hurdle, then Health and then Stamina in the late teens and early twenties. So glad that'll be out of the way. -
How awesome is it? So awesome that I only take travel powers for "concept" these days.
I personally go with Hurdle most of the time on a new toon, but I did just choose Swift on my new tank because I hate slow moving melee types and I don't like them all hopping from place to place. -
Quote:I get that all the time using vet powers, drives me nuts when I miss with Sands like ten uses in a row.The thing I've found myself yelling at my screen the most recently has been along the lines of "Stop ****** missing!!!" and "Hit! Hit! Hit! Hit or you're dead!" For some reason, the game is adamant about giving me 96 and 97 to-hit rolls. Only not when I actually have proof of it. The moment I fired up HeroStats, I suddenly stopped missing altogether. Then when I turned it off, within a day I was back to seemingly intentionally missing my biggest attacks and forcing streakbreaker after streakbreaker.

Things You Have Screamed At Your Monitor...
"Oh no, it's another Steelclaw list!" -
GR has only exacerbated my altitis, I think I've only touched one pre-GR toon since it hit and I've made like 5 new ones (and yet only actually played 3 of them
).
GR aside, I usually have my "current toon of the moment" that I'm working to level up, which rarely ever hits 50 because I get an itch to roll a new one when I get a good concept I like. They're doing good to get past 35, really; some get left behind in the middle forties, but it's usually about 32 (I know, I know, bad place to do so). On the other hand, if I get an itch, I can play a troller at 32 at the drop of a hat, no need to level him up first. Also, if a friend pops onto a certain few servers, I'll already have a decent toon there ready to go.
I know I should play the Day Job Musical Chairs with them while they collect dust, but... I never bother too, that takes too much planning. To tell you the truth, other than the AE building, Pocket D, ferry docks in redside and, what, the hospitals?, I have no idea where the day job locations are, just never bothered to learn the list. If they do anything, it's sit on low-ball bids on the markets. -
Quote:I love that one! The comment from the civilian really helps the picture too.As far as concepts go, my friend mousedroid has a character called Mr. Piddles and Kelly.
It's also making me wonder just how many people have made a 'controlled by the kitten on her shoulder' toon...I haven't made mine yet, but she's always in the back of my mind, and I know I've heard the idea expressed by others here on the fourms.
-
Quote:That was me! Still kind of playing her... sometimes... She's one toon I intend to take to 50 (currently 47) and incarnate out, maybe.Watership Doom - bots MM on Freedom. Bunny Girl costume, of course.
I recall I once was on a team lead by a toon named something like "Gym Coach" - looked like a scrawny middle-aged guy in a gym outfit and he had probably a tray full of macros for really funny lines like "Ok ladies, time to hit the showers!" when we finished a mission. Really, he had tons of good stereotypical lines like that for all occasions, that really brought the character to life, so to speak.
A good friend of mine made up a lizardy-looking toon named "Black Light Basilisk" and had carefully chosen the colors (background of black with pinks, greens and pale blues) to suggest the usual color scheme of a black light poster. He did a really wonderful job with that and I've, uhm, borrowed the color scheme if not the name once or twice since.
Just today I teamed with a toon named "aww cute bot" in Praetoria, which as you might guess had a robot-like costume and was as short as you can make 'em. Not 100% amazingly great, but still quite fun!
I know I've seen tons of great ones, but nothing else is coming to mind right now. I know the next time I log on I'll probably see at least one new one as well, which is one thing I love about this game. -
Man I wish I had that sort of time. I'm still not getting loads of playtime (more tho) and what I get I wan to use beating up bad-guys, so I've been off the AE for a bit.
-
Quote:I'm glad to hear that as I have a stalker I want to go heroside once he's out of Praetoria.I have noticed no one discriminates against stalkers on blue side either. There has been at least 1 on ever team I have been on the past few days. Good Stuff.
(I also have a tanker to go redside and I'm wondering if all the brutes won't just laugh at me in broadcast. -.-; ) -
I think it's just a fun power to use to see my foes flopping around like fish out of water while I beat them down. Not everyone chooses for or against a power out of sheer number-crunching.

Quote:Oh, THAT one! Yeah, I saw it and laughed too, much like with this pic:I've been hoping to link this since I saw it on Friday.
That's why I mention timing...perfect doom link and no doomers.
-
I'd go with Port Oakes for redside. Mr. Bokor would suddenly be 10Xawesomer, for starters.
Blueside? Maybe some place like Galaxy City - no one goes there and the lower levels need help already anyways.
Really, when I start to think about seeing this sort of cool new tech used in the old zones, I think they'd all be so much more fun.
