Hard to say, for me.
My latest MA arc has turned into a real headache vis:rewrites and fine tuning of text, but I'm getting so close to finishing it I can taste it (and it tatses soooo good). So I'll have to battle down that demon to actually get some playing in this weekend.
If I win that battle, I have a bunch of new toons I made for GR that still sit in Praetoria (thanks to my AE demons, yes) that I'll probably rush out the door to their respective red/blue sides. I love having a ton of toons sitting somewhere in the mid-twenties and up because that gives me any number of choices to play when I do play and they're all awesome enough to not feel like they still have their training wheels on. -
Quote:Indeed. Even better is playing on a team that understands that without having to be told. I had this experience fighting some Sky Raiders the other day - Confuse on the Shield Gens and almost as if by magic, the PUG members stopped wailing away on them until there was nothing left. Also, Confuse is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. On any sort of buffing/debuffing enemy, like a Shield Gen, Sorceror, or as Dirges mentioned, a Sapper is amazingly good fun. DRINK THEIR MILKSHAKES!
My troller cried manly tears, I tell you. -
I'm working on an arc with an escort to lead the players to something, but the map indicator and placement of the "X marks the spot" vs. where the object really is isn't working.
What happens is I get the escort to follow me and I go where the map indicates the target is and... it's not actually there. It is usually close enough to see, but.
The escort was originally set to betray once the player arrived, so I changed it back to just a follower in case that was part of the problem but that didn't help (the escort never betrayed at the misdirected map target anyway).
Is this a failure of the map perhaps, maybe some maps don't handle it well or something? If it helps, I'm using Croatoa 02.
This is my first time playing around with setting an escort so maybe there's something I'm missing??? -
Quote:Yeah, don't give this opinion as much weight as it gives itself. The devs aren't knocking themselves out over AE (that we know of), but they certainly haven't abandoned it by any means. The developers have abandoned developement on Mission Architect. The developers that are left will spend all their time on the incarnate stuff and booster packs.
So yeah... Guess they think there aren't enough interested in AE to devote dev time. Sorry to seem so negative. It's just the way it is... -
Quote:Funny how this part of my post was ignored by those who would point out 'how screwed up the market is.' More good news for you: another KC triple at level 30 came up and I again got it for about 45 mill, not "the crazy going rate".Edit: had to add this too. Last week I put down some low bids on the Kinetic Combat triple, level 30, for my stalker. All previous sales were at something like 110,000,000 and there were currently none available. I got one for about 45 mill yesterday.
You should try bid creep sometimes too. -
-
How come Alchemical Silver costs me 100 mill these days?!
-
I've only rolled twice so far and the only solid thing I've gotten was the Numina "everyone's gotta have it" thingy; my second roll was a lot of junk.
Still not sure what to do with the Numina as I rarely play at such high levels on the market or in toon-slotting. -
If I wasn't such a lazy marketeer and had the billions that the Crazy 88s burn, I think I'd catch the "you guys are ruining the market!" posters and offer them 100 mill and a link to a good coupla guides if they'd promise to go away and make use of the inf and knowledge I just pointed them to.
I had originally thought I'd offer a billion, but that might encourage them to not bother.
Maybe anther SG could start up under that theme.
Edit: had to add this too. Last week I put down some low bids on the Kinetic Combat triple, level 30, for my stalker. All previous sales were at something like 110,000,000 and there were currently none available. I got one for about 45 mill yesterday. -
Quote:Don't let all this scare you though, Crazy, */Dark MMs are still hell on wheels. In general, Defenders have the strongest ability with Buff/Debuff powers, as they are in their Primary. Corruptors and Controllers have the second strongest, with their buff/debuffs on average about 80% of Defenders. One important point to note is that control powers in a Controller's Secondary will be just as strong as his Primary control powers, so they will actually be STRONGER than the same power for a Defender or Corruptor. But for the powers that are the defining abilities of the Buff/Debuff Set, that's the order.
Masterminds come in last, with about 60-75% of the strength of a Defender's buffs and debuffs. This is because they are intended, in part, to tank for the team by letting their henchmen absorb damage. This greater resiliance they bring to the team is countered by having their buffs to the team be somewhat less.
The short version is, no, an MM with Dark Miasma will not be as good as buffing or debuffing as a Corruptor with Dark Miasma.
If you're actually interested in knowing the specifics, it gets complicated:
When it comes to debuffs, tohit, damage, or defense, Controllers and Corruptors have 80% of the strength of a Defender. MMs have only 66.7%
Buffs or debuffs to damage resistance, Controllers, Corruptors and MMs are all the same at 75% of a Defender.
It is also 75% for buffs to Defense.
Damage and to hit buffs follow the same pattern as debuffs, 80% for Controllers and Corruptors, 66.7% for MMs.
Healing, a Controller or Corruptor is 88% of a Defender, an MM is 80%.
Thus, a set like Dark Miasma, with all its debuffs, is definately weaker for an MM. Tar Patch will be about the same, though. Force Field and Sonic, though, since they center around Defense and Damage Resistance buffs, they are about equal for MMs and Corruptors. They don't currently both share both sets, though, but Sonic for a Corruptor and FF for a Mastermind are about the same relative to each other that they would be for the same Defender. (Sonic tends to be a bit weaker in terms of protection, but then grants more damage in the form of -Res)
In some cases, as well, the Mastermind version of a power is just nerfed, so MMs won't be TOO powerful. Dark Miasma is actually hit twice, Twilight Grasp has a much smaller heal radius, as well as healing less, as noted above. And Dark Servant is on a much longer recharge timer. It takes work to make it perma, while the Corruptor version is perma "out of the box".
You might also be interested to know that Masterminds get better PERSONAL defense than Corruptors. They can't defend others as well, but Tough or Weave will be stronger for them. Their Epic Pool shields, as well. -
Check out St. Martial's casinos at night, oooh so pretty....
Editing this alrady :P That said, just look around at all the "boring stuff" too. I personally love the architecture on just about every island more than blueside. -
Quote:I have villain toon who're nicer than that. O_OPeople forget how badass some Golden Age heroes were. The Angel from Marvel Comics precursor Timely Comics for example.
Imagine Batman, in baby blue tights and red cape. lol, amirite?
Now imagine that instead of traveling the world to gain his skills, he was raised as a child in prison and learned them from thugs, thieves and murderers. He fights crime not because his parents were murdered, but because he's bored and it's a sport to him. Now imagine that he's so badass he doesn't bother wearing a mask or hide his identity as a well-known billionaire, because if anyone comes after him, he caves their head in.
If you're a crook and he wants information from you, he'll hide in the back seat of your car, put you in a choke hold and when you tell him what he wants, he'll snap your neck for good measure. If you come at him with a knife, he'll shoot you in the face with a Colt 45 before you can blink. Oh, and he's got magic cape that lets him fly, but he rarely uses it because he doesn't need it.

Quote:You've forgotten the numerous players who keep thinking up new concepts for toons who can't wait to get to the costume creator and create them and then play them.On a different level COH has great missions and stories. But there is little to no carrot. I'm rolling in influence, shards, have a multi billion influence base and really have nothing left to do except reroll and do it all over again. Repetition without rewards is dreadful...
...Most want to keep improving their character forever- but when they hit a dead end with no rewards. They get bored and cancel accounts...
...The COH experience is pretty much leveling up to max and the only thing left is rerolling or replaying missions without any inscentive. Just look at GR. Sure the 50's were thrown a bone with the ability to change to her/villain/rogue. But the vast majority of the content is leveled at gaining new players with a superior 1-20 experience.
Rewards are very important. People play MMORPG's for many different reasons. Social or whatever. But without rewards it's just a glorified chat room.
Rerolling is not the dull pointlessness you think it is, to some of us - seeing our ideas created is the reward. -

I've only ever once messed about with them, when someone in an SG I was in wanted help getting the badges. Tell you the truth, I didn't even think of it "a system" within the game, just something sort of tossed in at random.
The fact it's tied in to PVP is probably the biggest hindrance it has, imho. PVP chases people off with the "everything you know is wrong" method of powers. -

Well, I am vaguely reassured.
Every issue and expansion they've come up with so far always seems to have at least one thing I can get happy over (although sometimes I have had to work at it) and it sounds like that track record's not going to end anytime soon.

Quote:I've been following LM's guide with my latest and was going to say an Ill/Rad too. I often get invites and tells out of the blue to join up on some TF or something (I've done maybe five so far after 3 years, but this will probably change....An Illusion Controller in general, and an Illusion/Rad, Illusion/Cold, Illusion/Storm or Illusion/TA in particular (I have all 4 at level 50). Take a look at my Ill/Rad guide, linked in my sig. My guide explains in detail how flexible an Ill/Rad can be.
Illusion/Rad is one of the most flexible characters in the game. Teams love the Rad debuffs, heals and the great buff from AM. Plus, you can be a fill-in tank with Phantom Army (PA), and nobody is better at taking the alpha strike than PA. You can add damage and control to a team, keeping the team safer and helping take down foes faster. Ill/Rad is also well known as one of the best AV soloers. You can handle anything . . . the one weakness is that it is not a great character for farming, as it is more focused on single target damage.), so it does appear they are sought after for teams. Mine's about level 37 and has near-perma PA and solos quite well.

Quote:Pretty much this; I think I was at something like level 15 when I tried my first one. Sure, sure, I can do them these days (I am a better player and all by now), but they still feel forced on me, like a nasty chore I have to deal with.I assume he meant i6 when Mayhems came out, and Stalkers were completely different back then. They had a pretty bad damage mod, no criticals, no fear on their Assasin Strike (though not that it mattered since the ambushes zero in on them). Before level 22 or so when Stalkers had 2 attacks besides AS, it was pretty bad.
On the other hand, when I'm playing an MM, they're often great fun. -
I was running a stalker when Mayhems first came out and still rather avoid them. The accolade is nice I'm sure, but never having gotten it and still somehow managing to play and survive, I don't think they're all that important to have. I wouldn't mind if they made them available in Ouro, but I probably still wouldn't bother.

Seconding this, I've had no problems with the 20 or so I've run with my 30-something once-Praetorian troller - I'm not even sure he's ever died on any of them.

Quote:I was reading this thread and was about to mention auras but you beat me to it.on my DM/nin stalker, wraith of smoke, he just took one of the auras (the one with the rising bubbles?) and colored it white (maybe slightly gray). constantly puffs out smoke from his body and makes an outline of him while he's hidden and trails when he moves. so there is always that option. and that was before power customization. now all of his powers are colored too!

There can be no avoiding wife agro - you can slow it's arrival, maybe put it off for a few days, but sooner or later, you're going to be laying there face down wishing you had a wakie.
When wife agro is obviously incoming, do like I do - drop 'trops and run!
