  1. You might try not using it on a build that already has it and see if it makes a real difference or not.

I tend to take it on just about every toon though, for the reasons you mentioned, especially in this new wondrous age of inherent fitness.

That should say something about how hard it is to write incarnate level powered beings in a story, let alone translating that into MMORPG mechanics.
Jack Kirby would like a word with you about The FF and Thor, The New Gods, etc. etc. etc. which ran for numerous issues if not years. Just because few today can write at that level doesn't mean it can't be done.

I saw that not so much as a 'why not exploit it too?' option but as a 'having to struggle against the system' choice we got 'forced' into. The fact that it's made little difference is telling.
  4. I've never heard the idea of 'redside is harder' before this thread.

Back in the day I made my first toon, he was blaster that got abandoned at about level 12 because I had made the very unfortunate choice to check out the Hollows (this was pre-revamp). Sure, I was inexperienced and so on, but man I hated that. My next few toons were other heroes that never got off the ground, then I made a stalker redside (also before stalker-buffs) and sailed away.

    So I would say no.

This is seriously a cool thing to have in the game but it needs more support, especially regarding the things mentioned after that first sentence. I kind of think they're afraid to touch it much due to the possibility of spawning another round of meow/monkey madness, but... it'd be worth it and everyone could profit from it (see number 2, following).

    2) BUGS BUGS BUGS and I don't mean the bunny. I know these are hard to track down and can take a lot of time, but they'd mean so much to each niche of players affected by them - which may be why they seem to get put-off, "they don't affect the whole game".

    3) Zone revamps ala the Hollows as well as ditching FedEx missions and some rewriting for existing missions (including spell check - I feel badly when I drop misspellings in my arcs, don't they cringe over them too?).

    4) Finish proliferation.

    5) Finish power customization, I still really want to be able to banish the Hasten effect. It's not a huge deal, but still.

Really, the only ones I really want to see NAOW are the first two. The rest of them can be drip-fed over time.

I want to take the escort to a collection/computer. I don't want to be able to use the computer myself, it's just a place to take the escort. I'm not sure how to do that. My first try out of the box ended up using the computer both as something I had to click and as a place to take the escort. Any attempt to change the setting of the collection to be related to the escort led to a circular reference error. What am I doing wrong?
You don't have to set up the object escorted-to in any way special, but it does have to be something to 'collect' or 'destroy' as I recall (you might even be able to escort to a boss encounter, but I haven't tried that and It's been a while since I looked at the menu of choices). Anything you've already placed on the map (computer to collect, pod to blow up, etc.) should work.

I might suggest trying to reset the escort after you've made changes to the escort-to object; the system seems to hold on to the last version of things and if you change it (like the name or something), it might be trying to direct to the "old version" of it.

I haven't had too much experience with it, but it buggy and sometimes you have to work around it instead, which is a PITA.
  10. Every one of my toons is so epic they don't need no stinkin' transport - they can fly or leap, run faster than the eye can see, etc. Batcopters and SpiderCars and what have you are toys for lesser heroes and villains.

    Why Not?

Rather than allow us to choose single powers on a mix'n'match plan, the devs chose to limit us to full power sets to try and keep us from creating egregious "farm-me" push-over NPCs, I would think. Think about how bad the farming has been already, and then imagine how much worse it could have been - NPCs with Boxing and Swift or something.

That considered, we still have the options to tell any sort of story we wish to, as long as we remain within the bounds of good taste. I don't see that as a limitation but a great freedom.
  12. If the journey was dull, I'd have stopped playing.

  14. I saw it once on Sharkhead while in a PUG and the leader told me he'd seen it before as well.
  15. Gloating means never having to say you're sorry.

It's much like "Deal With It ".
  16. More options are always good.

  18. A small warning: right now there's tons of activity at the end of the game, at level 50 as the devs are currently adding in a ton of new material there. When you start your new toons, whether that be in Praetoria or Atlas or even Mercy, you might not see too many players around to team with.

Don't let that get you down, just hunker down, go, and play solo if you have to, it's best to relearn the game from the bottom up after all.

I'm not up 100% on every detail, but I seem to recall people tried that for lulz and found it was just too much to keep up with - too many other players doing their own thing, too many pieces of salvage showing up too quickly, etc. I think???
  20. I rarely end up playing a toon all the way to 50 and pretty much never after that (at least in the old days... maybe I'll get a taste of the new end-game stuff and change later) so slotting with 50 level IOs is probably out for me right now, not to mention the cost in time/inf of getting LotG +rech. Still, that's a good point Daemodand, I've been wondering about that stuff as of late. I'll definitely be keeping it mind for this toon as well as an SR stalker I have - thanks for the info.
  21. I never played the game but I liked the film a whole bunch. I'm hoping they can repeat the wonderful creepiness the first one had.
  22. When I look at them still at level 4 and they haven't been played in something like 265 days, then I think it might be time. Not that I've done it yet though.

Usually I end up doing it when I need a character slot to make another altoholic-fix, who will also end up sitting there at level 4, etc.

Out of the group of say 10 new toons I made in the wake of GR, I've only really played three.
  23. I like the idea of more slots, but after reading the thread and thinking about it, I have to agree: even my most-beloved toons only seem to have four good costumes in them. Most of them have five open (or will when they level up high enough) but I always get stuck on the last one, if not the third or fourth. One of my two fifties has had her final slot changed like four times now and I'm still not happy with it.

Still, if it brought in easy money, I think it would be a good thing for the game.
  24. I rarely take that risk, but it has bitten me once. I managed to hop-hop away from the combat somehow without getting whacked and had to endure the laughs of my teammates as they finished up the group we were pounding.

Turning into a monkey is never epic.

That's my take. I'm currently working on my first MA scrapper who happens to be SR and it feels right. I know the DB set well too, and that would feel right as well.

I'd also like to pat myself on the back for guessing correctly what this thread was about from the title alone - go me!
