  1. There are already some great arcs posted here, as well as suggestions you look into the long lists of good arcs other players have posted in the past and at past Player Choice winners, but I'd like to suggest two arcs that I didn't see get singled out:

    #379488 "Storming Citadel" by @MrCaptainMan
MCM has sadly apparently left us due to the broken AE foofaraw, but this is a great arc and if he does come back and find he's got a DC, that would be great.

#25295 "The Extadine Lab" by @Vanden
I played this on the AE team and thought it was very fun.

I know both of these are 'short' (one mish) and might be seen as being less-than-epic because of that, but who says every DC has to be an epically told epic story of epic proportions?

I'll second this. Global channels (the method usualy tossed out) can help a great deal but they aren't obvious. Anyone new to the game won't know about them and as I alt a great deal they can be tough to keep up with (they die, people move to another one, etc.). Personally I think they just add to the problem in some ways - we're told "it's not easy to see people because this is a game with instances in it" and yet I feel they just add more instances. We need something more universal and direct.
  3. Here's another player who's sort of stuck like you, but it's changed for me. After bouncing around a few toons, I made a scrapper and took him to 50. Not much later it was a stalker, same thing. Now I get bored playing those guys and tend to play support of some sort, even got a Def up to something like 38th, although I still don't love them. Up until GR I didn't like tanks at all but now I have one at about 35th, although I've not played her in a bit.

I have altitis and can't stay focused too long on just one or even three toons it seems, but the longer I play the better I get at finding the happy in just about anything.
  4. Very sorry to hear about these RL trials, I sincerely hope everything works out ok in the end, WN, you rock.

And a big thanks to the devs for doing what they could here to help as well, you guys rock too.

Welcome to my world. I've been playing on Freedom and Virtue for years and these days I'm lucky to find people to team with due to me crazy, crazy antipathy to playing either of my two 50s*, because my normal play-time window is anywhere in a 3 AM up to about 10 AM window. Playing on Pinn or someplace? I could recite dirty limericks over broadcast and no one would ever know.

But I wish you luck with your crazy game! Maybe I'll get a chance to team with you, that would rock.

And yeah, what about leveling pacts?

    * Who could have predicted that playing the same character for about a hundred hours could lead to boredom???

    Two AE questions

I've heard that the arcane phrase "Ticket Farm" is also common.

As for your arc, start a separate thread about it: tell us something about what the plot is, what levels it's set up for, and then something to make us think "wow cool, I gotta try that one!"

    Coming Storm?

    Coming Storm = Space
    New Zone soon
Paper gives mysterious warning of Meteors
Paper + knowledge of Coming Storm + Knowledge of New Zone = high probability of new Zone being in Space or pertaining to space.

You could also mention how 'Galaxy City' is littered with astrological terminology.

    This is me being happy:

This was pretty much my thought process as well, including the song. Then I stopped and thought "oh right, 'always new stuff for 50s to do', so I can guess this will be for 50s too" and my song changed into a sigh.

    I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.
  8. Ah, ok, I get it now, thanks - and welcome to the new member!

Now all I have to do is see about getting a chance to show for the meet-ups more often...
  9. Does anyone know of any channels to help find teams on redside? How about teams on redside NOT running 50 content or doing strikeforce reruns? No one seems to bother setting flags any more or to pay attention to broadcast.
  10. I know I haven't been able to join you guys regularly in forever, but what's the 'storyteam'? I feel like I missed something.

Fits for a quote about any topic!
  13. I'll go with the rendition of a standard by a band who's name itself could be a CoH character's name (or perhaps an SG's):

Which is what I was mainly addressing with my comment. Who says that interesting historical figures should be treated like a limited resource and only used "when you're really sure THIS is the best time/way to"? (And did they just ruin Stevie Wonder in that way too? ) One might guess that Moffat did think this was the best way, perhaps he's just not very interested in Jack (he is pretty cliche these days).

Adding to my first comment about historical period: by letting us know she'd taken out Jack, he's also telling us just what this lizard lady does with herself and her time in London ("crime fighter!, rescuer of humans!"), all in one quick run of dailogue. I call that pretty good writing.

All that aside, this isn't the first time the show's stepped on it's own toes continuity-wise; I seem to recall hearing it's had like three different versions of Atlantis, for instance.

First come, first served and finders keepers, imho.

Also - I wonder if TVTropes has ever addressed this?* - I think Jack was tossed in to help establish the historical period, not "make her look cool quickly" - sort of like how anyone time traveling always has to meet the most famous people of the day like Mark Twain, Cleopatra, or... Jack The Ripper. It's a common enough crutch.

*and no I'm not asking seriously so don't bother to give me a link if they did.

    Bronies

Mmm, dunno about all this. I've caught the hoopla from afar online so when I stumbled across a link to an ep I watched it. Tried to give it a fair shake but it didn't float my boat.

To be fair though, it wasn't profoundly insulting like most popular things seem to be, so I guess it has that going for it.

I heard it in Cap, standing near the arbiter not far from the didn't-exist-then AE building. I was running my stalker, who is my only 50 redside. I don't think she was 50 at the time but darn close; she'd probably recently run a paper mish or something with the Nemesis army would be my guess.

That's because it takes some skill to tell a story; most farms tend to be cookie-cutter reuse of the same power sets. Also, you may be grading hard.

  20. Often it's writing an AE arc, for me. That takes all sorts of pondering-time, writing and editing-time and then playtesting-time. Dunno what I'll do when I run out of arcs though... start deleting old ones I guess.

Bah to your clever Canadian hypnotism techniques!
Must be your nearness to the border, I live in Colorado and I wasn't affected - I still don't like hockey.
  22. Back when I was badging, I was using a stalker - great for getting into dangerous areas without being seen. Then I spent the time to get the Toy Collector badge (had to do it SOLO) and just got burned out on badging all together; that was like three years ago.
  23. I so wish we could, but we can't. I'd also like to get rid of the under-lighting they get from standing on the glowing disk, but we can't do that either. :/
