Quote:hypothetical fire escape? it was a perfectly reasonable suggestion, no more or less valid than your power leaper concept.Well we've already talked about a hypothetical fire escape but I didn't think about the possibility of the "mystery helicopter" picking him up. That would put a fun spin on things.
Quote:I'm actually toying around with the idea that the entire Zombie Apocalypse thing is a dream Rick's having while he's in his coma.
That would actually explain pretty much all the plot holes and logical inconsistencies this show ever generates. -
Jolting Chain is still part of my bread and butter in the 40s. It remains my favorite lead with aoe immob and sleep in place afterwards before the targets get up.
And I don't find the gremlins mess the sleep enough to worry about, they usually draw aggro to themselves anyway, and the extra DPS is appreciated.
I took Thunderstrike on principle (melee attacks for a dom - yes, please) but haven't given it slotting attention yet. The KB is annoying, so I have used it situationally - with walls to mitigate the kb, "get it away from me!", or to just finish someone off without messing up an attack chain for the next victim. -
Quote:That is more logical planning and thought than I am prepared to provide zombies - no matter how much additional thinking they have shown so far beyond the genre stereotype. The zombies had the run of the entire building except the roof. I am well aware that fire escapes don't typically allow for ground access to go up for security reasons. But they could have reasonably gone half-way up the building inside then get on the hypothetical fire escape to get to the top.
Quote:Still given that the show already went as far as to have Merle cut his own hand off I don't think it'd be too "fantastic" for them to have him jump to a slightly lower adjacent roof-top.
I do not accept cutting the hand off as 'fantastic', however. There are sufficient real life examples to convince me it is more than believable under the circumstances. -
Quote:As I understand it, most fire escapes do not reach all the way to the ground - for security. You lower them the last distance from the escape itself. So the zombies couldn't have used it.The real problem I have is that apparently Merle found another way to get off the roof that the zombies didn't find to get up to him. If there was a "fire escape" why didn't the zombies use it to get to him?
The jumping option may have merit as an option, though. I did not notice how close any other structures were. -
Quote:That bugged me at first too, and then I figured there was probably access to a fire escape.Zombies at the door, panic sets in, you saw off what's fastest. But how did he get off the roof of a multistory building with one hand and not be street pizza for zombies?
Quote:As for the stereotypical redneck in a wife beater, again the more removed from the rest of civilization you are, the less likely you would have likely been overrun. I'm guessing that they really didn't have a lot of neighbors nearby before the ZA so he could get away with his archaic attitudes. I'm betting these are the first women his wife has been able to socialize with in a very long time.
Quote:Of course Shane going off on him was a bit much. Authority good, tyranny bad.
Quote:My question is this.....since when are zombies intelligent enough to pick something up and (ie a chuck of concrete) and bash against a glass door until it shatters???
Quote:Having warched the previous episode where the hell did the guy that was handcuffed on the roof??? The zombies would have tried in vain to get that door open to get to him and I am sure that they still would have been there when the rescue group showed up.....How did he get down from the roof?? Why didnt he hacksaw through the small metal rod that he was handcuffed to?? Sure the zombies were trying to get at him, however it would have made more sense to saw at the metal before hacking your hand off......
And he had zero expectation that there would be a rescue group, so no motivation to wait. As I mentioned before I bet there is a fire escape, or access to a fire escape someplace. Avoiding the walkers on the ground leaking blood-smell is going to be hard though. -
I always wanted a KHTF style count badge for the number of times I defeated Frostfire, back when The Hollows was 'the thing'.

Fidel Castro Admits the Cuban Economic Model is a Failure
Add to that the former Soviet Union. In both cases the black market for basic foodstuffs, includes staples, was as (or more) active than the approved distribution network.
edit: and I see all_hell actually put a specific historical note in related to the USSR. nice. -

Quote:There is still a cap on recharge benefit - Arcanatime still rules.I knew it.... I was worried (a little hopeful to be honest) that the incarnate slots were going to affect our build plans. Attack powers no longer need to be slotted for max damage.... with the ability to exceed ED recharge we can do attack chains that were impossible before (maybe.. there's not to many good options there actually). Interesting stuff. I do think everyone who's studying this out will be opting for damage or recharge.
If the core build gets where you need for recharge than there may be better mileage on: damage, accuracy, defense, end, resistance, etc.
Gonna be fun to experiment, I know that. -
Quote:Really, that is the crux of it - tight target knots. How you arrange those most effectively?Keep in mind that when the tank herds all of the mobs into a tight knot, you're going to get all of them into the range of your AoE attacks making them much more effective.
A good steam-roll essentially does the same thing in that regard as a deliberate herd. It is a big part of why I, as the tank, try to leave for the next spawn earlier than the team - to buy some cluster time before they start laying the beat down. It is most fun when it shocks someone on a PuG enough to make a comment comparing it to 'herding'.
Quote:As in most things, it's the people that make the difference.
Quote:If you're finding that just rushing in is quicker, then you can probably afford to turn up the difficulty (or your one of those people who thinks spending 40 minutes out of every hour running back from the hospital is good gaming).
Though, I'll take +2 completed faster over +3 completed slower. Faster XP (for those concerned with such things). -
Quote:No doubt. I am surprised anyone still believes this.Herding has to be one of the more slow ways to clear a map. If you can just roll it, why go through the elaborate dance of:
"WAIT HERE, PULLING"
<everyone stands around as the tank goes to get a mob that they could all just walk up to and annihilate>
"OK ATTACK NOW!"
Nice solution to try and and quantify it. I applaud the effort, and wish I wasnt' busy with other things that'll keep me from being about to manage a session for it.
(Note: there used to be more than one discussion thread on the herd/steam-roll topic around here that had data and timings...)
Quote:Just as a side note, I don't really consider "herding" and "concentrating a spawn" (as you described it, jumping into the middle, getting their attention) to be the same thing. I am, as I'm reading, assuming they're doing the second spawn-by-spawn.
<<some snip>>
Me jumping into a spawn, essentially nailing them in place as I eat the alpha isn't the same thing - I'm just getting that spawn's attention and keeping it on me so the team can unload. -
There is an announcement around here somewhere that the maintenance time today was on a different schedule than normal...
edit: yep, there it is. -
Quote:Repeating Accelerating your siblings and friends doesn't guarantee mutating them into super heroes either. Does get you a lot of glares when you try to visit them in the hospital, though.I wish I'd known before I rolled my ill/rad that Accelerate Metabolism 1) makes you sterile, and 2) does NOT help you shed unwanted pounds.
On second thought, I'd also wished I'd known that EM Pulse would stop my watch. Yes, even the hardened version that cost ten grand. -
Quote:True, now that you slow me down to think more, at least on the def side other than what APP or Patron pick you choose. Regardless, the example was one incarnate tree for one AT/situation which seemed somewhat limiting. It won't affect set bonuses so unless you are using a powerset that naturally gives a lot of defence before sets then don't bother.
In fact even if it does give a lot of defence before sets, it's still 3-4% so to me that's "don't bother".
edit: oh and I kinda failed to mention [Combat Jumping], [Hover], [Maneuvers], [Weave] -
Quote:My ice/ice IO'd for range defense would beg to differ, but yeah in general the hold doesn't seem logical for blasters for that choice. lots of other though. So if I understand...
For instance, if I want my blaster to be super accurate id select the "nerve" alpha slot. If I wanted to further enhance down that tree id either have to choose +acc and hold dur or +acc and defense.
Neither of those 2 options particularly help a blaster much. Generally they don't have holds or defense. -
Quote:That makes sense, and there would easily have been time for that. There was information about the refugee center in Atlanta, afterall... and that would have been in context of the larger crisis.Well even if someone would just say "when I woke up zombies were killing people all over the place" and then someone else would say "I saw on CNN/Fox News/ABC/NBC/CBS that it was happening all over the world at once". That would be enough for me.
I mean they would have to talk about this to the new guy around the campfire just as normal human curiosity and behavior I would think. Even if they know nothing they ought to be speculating about it just as they discuss the known zombie behaviors. -
My dark armor characters are already begging to be played with the endred/resist...

Quote:Thanks, I had skimmed over that in the revealed data. You can say that at this point. If you follow the OP's link, each level of enhancement can vary in how much it can go beyond the ED cap. At the highest levels, 2/3 of the buff can go beyond ED. At the start, it's about 1/6. That means Blasters can benefit from going for more damage, even though their attacks are probably already at the ED cap. If that benefit is worth it is up to the player.
Yeah, endurance, damage, are things I'm really going to look at. For defence softcapped builds, I am not sure what I'll gain beyond debuff insurance... though I could rework core builds to boost other things (regen, rech, etc) and count on def buffs from Incarnate slotting... Ugh, its gonna take me forever to figure all my various plans. -
The way I've been told it worked in GR Beta was, that it would add a bonus of 20% (in this case defense) to any, and all, powers you had that was slottable for defense. And depending on the level (common, uncommon, etc.) it ignored a portion of ED diminishing returns in those powers, so it would push beyond current limits. I cannot say if that has changed at this point.

Quote:Conclusion leaping is fun.Looks like components for crafting Alpha slot enhancements will only come from task forces.
I don't think I'd doubt our devs that much.
It says right on the preview sight that the basic Incarnate Shards can be crafted into "any". And the Gr'ai Matter listed as unknown has been mentioned many times as being craftable out of Vanguard merits.
Still plenty of room for further definition, but hardly "only come from task forces". -
OK, that was my favorite episode of the season.
I like the dynamic that is building within the family. Will be interesting to see where this heads.
An interesting twist with the daughter's role partially being revealed, too.
