  1. I never understand the [Soothing Aura] hate for Corrs. It isn't a high number, but it ticks fast enough that solo it can be a life saver, and it sure doesn't hurt anything on a team build either - particularly if you haven't skipped anything important to get it.

I'd echo the [Hasten] comment, keeping the buffs/debuffs up fast is nice with pain.

Very entertaining read this. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

(there is a conversation between a couple of characters about 250 pages in that had me rolling on the floor - essentially it was the classic "do h34l0rz blast or just rock the aura?")
  3. Cute idea.

    oh, and:

(Which is arguably nothing with patrol xp now.)

I agree, though, I'd leave it alone.
  5. If I were making a new DA/ tank a few months back, I'd lean toward /EM - for the stun stacking with OG (done mace a bit much or that would be great too).

But with /KM now, it also would offer some stun synergy, and the animations coming out of the dark auras could be cool with the right customization.
  6. This is the first I've been able to get to the forums in close to 48 hours.
  7. I haven't been able to get back into the forums in a few days (gggrrr) to thank you for the feedback.

I like the idea of the wrench or shovel wielding brute.

Great point on AR/ blaster offering a suitable mez hole, though.

No decision yet, but leaning towards the blaster.
  8. I just grabbed "Slack Jawed Fool" (even though it violates my personal naming convention), because it was too cool to pass up.

    However,...

    what goes with it?
    My gut reaction was brute.

    Any help?

It doesn't help that BioWare has redefined how you move through games with a feeling of complete freedom, even though you still know it is functioning within defined bounds.

    ice/ice leveling

(Caveat: been forever, well years anyway, since my signature ice/ice hero passed through that range.)

My tried and true tactic is always to freeze (and keep frozen) the highest in the spawn, and clear the minions. Then finish off the leader.

At 20, you probably do not have enough stacking holds for that, though.

Dropping ice and pulling them into it (as Ryo_Takenoko mentioned) is handy mitigation.

Ice Storm is also good mitigation, they will stop attacking to exit the area of the storm. You can peg them with blasts or freezes during that run around phase with more freedom.

And I've always found that my blaster eat inspirations like candy.

Again, you continually ignore the actual point of the complaints.

In CoV we were forced to serve an evil dictator without choice and shoe horned into a storyline that made little sense.

In GR we are given a choice to serve an evil dictator and then told that choice makes no difference and you will fight the evil dictator in a storyline that makes little sense.

Not all characters must follow the same path. That's all anyone is saying, or has ever said.

In character opinions are fine. But, the larger game play issues related to the story and player choices still stand.

in an awesome 'choices' mode of play that... oh wait doesn't matter and to heck with those that actually enjoyed playing the choices that are no longer supported.

(Frankly, one of the worst game play decisions I think the Devs have made.)

It still doesn't mean we cannot express an opinion that we don't think it should be that way.

And for the record, I think it is wrong for the primal villains too. Let the rogues and the vigilantes run with the heroes if they want. I have a couple that stick to villain merits for a reason and if they don't want to save States and the Fool Crew, they shouldn't have to.

everyone[/U] - kinda like we all fight the Rikti, no matter what alignment we have.
If Tyrant had made an alliance with Recluse - by planning to use him to open up a second front against Paragon City, and then destroy him later, while Recluse would be hoping to use Tyrant to defeat the Heroes of Paragon City, and then defeat the Praetorians himself - then that would be a big clue that the devs were intending to add some evil Incarnate Trials in the future.
And all the lore and other info we've gotten from I20 has just reinforced the idea that Tyrant is the bad guy that we all need to defeat to be able to face even greater threats in the future.
yes, yes, yes. We know! But that doesn't make it any less annoying.

That doesn't mean we have to like it and "rah! rah!" about it.

Possible that this is a bug. But as of Monday night, stacked holds didn't prevent a damn thing.
I am sorry to hear of your experience, but I'd have to think it was a bug or something. Or our run was bug - one troller and one dom. He was held, never ported, never airstruck, and died.

Huzzah for CoX's 7th! It is a great milestone. I would expect some nice AV and GM summoning fun as they've done for past events on Live. Hopefully not limited to Praetorian (had plenty of that lately with the trials, but I'd also understand if they did). I will not bother to make the PD events, but they sound fun too.
  20. FYI, the new Mercedes Lackey superhero novel (inspired by her CoH play) includes an excellent discussion between two characters about whether support/healers should be available for combat or just rock the aura.

    I was very amused.

  23. Skipped or not, the story is there. And some players gain satisfaction and enjoyment from it. Others don't, which is also fine, or like to just focus on one element of the offered story over others.

I think the recent noise, is that lately the story is hanging together even more poorly than normal and seems to be getting short changed.

In short, I think the point is - if the game is going to have it than use it and stick to it consistently as some of the players like it to make sense.

She probably benefits from having a 'deeper' ear due to that level of fandom. I was only a limited fan (though I may still have a couple of tapes around somewhere - in additiona to a couple cds...). Agreed, ZM. Derivative and influenced, which is in no way wrong, but the defensive nature of the Gaga camp is almost comical (though to be fair that is probably more due to the plagiarism claims.)
