Quote:Guides were once a solid reference to understand what powers do, some feel and playstyle input, and moderate slotting assistance for SOs.When I began playing CoH guides abounded about each archetype and the varying power sets. Now when I scroll through them many archetype power set guides are non-existant or waaaaaay out of date. Has interest in writing guides just evaporated or is there some othe explanation?
With IOs and Mids now, 'share your build' or 'check my build' posts have simply replaced them. -
Quote:Looked pretty much like they were going for pure 60s/go-go-ish style to me.We talked earlier about Emma Frost, January Jones wasn't so bad in this film. She needs to get more bass in her voice though and drop the mad men housewife/milf vibe. Also, she needs to drop the big hair and look a little younger. They should have put a little more work into her character's presentation.
Quote:In the comics, I remember Emma always wearing pants or long coats/dresses. Emma was always about Business!! In the movie scene where she met the Russian general in the cold, she had a hat on head but she was wearing a short skirt. I laughed out loud when I saw it. Just little things like that just make the character look tacky(She looked like a $lut to me). But we get a view of Emma Frost and we'll see how she develops.
Quote:- Dr. Moira MacTaggert, I love Rose Byrne...but this was her worst film choice ever. I thought Moira was a "trusted" friend of mutants, she seemed like a wildcard to me. That bit at the end just ticked me off. Charles is a fool for letting her around them now.
Quote:- Emma Frost, She was manipulating everyone else but she couldn't manipulate American CIA operatives? This was just odd to me. Why would she just sit in prison will all of her powers?
Quote:- I didn't realize what an idealist Charles Xavier was until I saw the life or death struggle with the missiles. I would not be human-friendly after that if I was a mutant. Mystique made the right move.
Your opinion is noted, and filed under fascinating. -
Also so this at X-Men tonight. Couldn't agree with Father Xmas more on all points:

Anyone else look at the oil strike costume change with steampunk pack and wonder if someone has been working on liquid powers?

Quote:I know, but I thought worth mentioning just to touch on the loophole, particularly if it was new info for anyone.i know, but thats more of an exception due to how zoning and such works
technically they are not supposed to stack from same caster but if you zone it will stack cause the game loses track of who applied the buff when you enter a new zone

Quote:It's perk is control, plus layered mitigation options heavy on soft control.
So from that perspective, when I look at Electric, I see a control set, that doesn't have much else. It can be an effective control set, if you use all the powers effectively, but it's ultimately a low damage set, and the only perk it has is Conductive Aura, and that's just not enough IMO. Course that also tend to apply to Gravity and Ice control, and plenty of people like those.
It is lock down and defeat in complete safety - more so than any other set I've played. -
Quote:Yes, I'd say it is, and I'd plan on it being longer to run accordingly. Not only does it look far more complicated than BAF or even Lambda,
Edit: or perhaps not much different than Lambda time-wise.
On when people want to be idiots... and it'll only take once to weed them out with stars and notes. -
Quote:They will stack from the same caster if you apply, enter mish, and reapply... but that off course only covers the first encounter or two.they cant stack from the same caster, but if you have seperate casters they cant stack currently, so if you had 2 FF on the team, everyone could get 2x shields
if i had to guess they would stay stackable like they are on live (not from same caster type of thing) (disclaimer, this statement is just a guess) -
I am not going to try to add to the technical feedback provided so far, but after trying multiple doms....
elec/ is my favorite dom set.
bar none. -

I'm still scratching my head about what we are really trying to *fix* here.

Quote:Good plan.Well folks I believe in good ole firepower and my Mossburg 500 Persuader with a M4 antishock stock loaded with double ought buck is the way for me.Thats my melee weapon.
For distance I have a SKS 7.62X39 mm with a dragunov fiberforce stock with a Bushnell elite tactical 6-24x50 scope.
Finally for the "oh shizz" they got too close I have a Springfield GI-45 and yes I have all these took me awhile but they are mine.
Grab a crowbar, bat, or something for when you run out of ammo after Z #1,157. -
Quote:Truth!Well, we were speaking specifically about melee weapons in a zombie confrontation, like baseball bats and katanas. Obviously that's not the situation you ever want to be in, however the point stands: if you ARE in melee range, if you need to have something on your person in case zombies get close--again, something you want to avoid at all costs, we agree on this point--then the baseball bat is your best bet for survival in such an instance.
While I agree that when the dead begin to walk I'll be finding myself some projectile wepaons STAT, I still won't go anywhere with a trusty bat - it has limitless ammo, doesn't jam, and I've practiced with it more (though I, concede, not against living dead targets...). -
I never joined as often as I wanted... but did always enjoy it when I did.
I'll certainly miss it.
Thanks for all the past effort to make this work. -
Quote:RL mag runs pretty high... no worriesJust an update: I'm doing some contract historical research, and angling for some steady work from a major auction house, and I heard from Goblin Queen, who is busy on job interviews as well.
Sorry for us both being away from the game recently, but you gotta pay bills! I'll try to get in tonight to "show the flag" and perhaps get an AS group going!
(I've pretty much parked my little lowbie waiting for the pack that I'm drooling over anyway. When it comes out, you can bet I'll hunt one of you down with some energy.) -
Quote:Yes it was.I loved Ryan and Esposito's interaction after the bar scene. Very well done!
Quote:I could see the thing with Capt. Montgomery coming from a mile away. They still played it out very nicely. The sense of betrayal amongst the detectives was very real and intense.
Quote:I honestly didnt care for the cliff hanger. Not that the episode wasnt good, it was, and i enjoyed it alot, but i think if they wanted to cliff hang it the better spot would have been right when the merc showed up at montgomery's house. And then having the Capt call the girl to say to meet him at the hanger. -
Quote:I know, that's what made his other recent statement kiboshing proliferation so odd. Wish I could find it, but my search fu, it is weak.Ah, you got me on that, I stand corrected. Fire isn't available as Primary and Secondary for every AT. But, every *class* of Powerset has it. There is Fire in Melee, Defense, Summon (Demon), Control, Blast, Buff (Thermal), Assault, and Support.
So, there *could* be Fire/Fire for every AT.
Yeah, that's not the case.
1. Posi was the lead proponent of proliferation, even over Castle's objections.
2. Posi, if he's against it now, is no longer lead designer.
3. Proliferation generates player interest and pre-sold lots of GR. So, you know Production is pushing for it.
4. In the latest Ustream, they said proliferation is not dead, but maybe just not in I21, but maybe yes.

Given Posi's recent hint that proliferation is pretty much finished (
),
I doubt it much matters.
*hunts for the link, fails to find it*
edit: Aha! I wasn't dreaming it.

I participated in some Atlas Park action on Justice last night.
Zoned into AP, joined a league (though typing this, I wonder what lag would be like for those participating in a normal team versus a league).
First encounteres were slooooowwww. Long wait for first few powers to fire. Then suddenly fine, fighting almost at a brisk Rikti invasion pace. No problems. Then, I was dead... animations for attacks that killed me appearing after I was laying on the ground.
I hit the hospital, where I was lag frozen in the rez beacon for several seconds.
Rejoined the fight, hit one aoe hold, the icon didn't cycle, no animation.... a rain of missiles, I die, then I see the power must have triggered in the instance and got me aggro as I stood around waiting for the lag.
I hit the hospital, where I was lag frozen in the rez beacon for several seconds.
Lag killed again.
Logged off, it wasn't worth the aggravation. -
Quote:Alternative Alternative fix."Servers: Added Union, Defiant, Zukunft, Vigilance, Champion, Freedom, Guardian, Infinity, Justice, Liberty, Pinnacle, Protector, Triumph, Victory, and Virtue to the new Global Server List. This change has no secret, nefarious purposes involving the overthrow of any governments or seizure of any multi-national organization or corporation assets. All characters will remain intact on their original server. Due to immigration laws some users may have inadvertently stolen the global names and account names of prior residents. Please be sure your visa and entry documents are in order. All excess inf due to exchange rate modifications has been transferred to @Chyll."

Quote:ticks every 4 seconds I believe, I remember reading it tops out at 80hp for a tick... so call it 1200/minHow fast does it tick? And, would it actually 'help' on a team build, or is it going to be mostly helpful during soloing? If it's best for soloing, I can find other things to do with the power slot, and enhancement slots.
Mostly helpful solo, no doubt about it.
If you have something desirable on your team build, you're probably safe comfortably making that choice, as the aura's range isn't tremendous. -
Finally got happy with the backstory, now tweaking the costume.
(short version) A mad scientist ends up using a naive assistant as an (unwilling) experiment subject. One brain installed in a clockwork body later... scared, angry, confused steampunk psi-bot escapes and begins a life of crime fighting. (beauty of this is I'll probably get around to making the mad scientist for red-side)
Bring on the steampunk pack!
Oh, I also need to finalize my name choice.
Any preference between:
Mechynism
or
Mechanysm
(Traveling for work the next few days, I'll get them loaded to live and seek membership this weekend.)
